Restarted?? It just started with her! Phillipines wasnt considered a powerhouse like Venezuela or USA or Puerto rico! It was a strong country but up until 2010-2019 when all the contestants started making the cut did it become one of the best if not the best powerhouse of this decade! Same thing is now happening with thailand!! They are doing it!!! Hopefully vietnam continues the trend along with Indonesia!!

I rather do it like the 2015 version: talking about their life without Steve Harvey interviewing them for 30 seconds.

Eliazar Avanceña Nope, it was either Nicaragua, Costa Rica or Ecuador. These countries rarely placed but did well that year.

This edition marked the birth of the Filipino Wave in Miss Universe. Ten consecutive placements with two iconic and memorable wins. It has been a joy following Miss Universe during the 2010s with the Philippines being represented by such a high calibre of women. I am so looking forward to the next decade of Filipina Misses especially under the new leadership of Shamcey Supsup.
I thank the Philippines Department of Foreign Affairs for bringing up the Jus Saniguinis principle that forced Madame Stella Marquez de Araneta and Binibining Pilipinas to reinstate Venus Raj as MUPH 2010.
Because had Nicolette Henson, her replacement at that time, was unplaced in MU 2010, you would've seen a lot of Filipina turned their backs on Binibining Pilipinas and join other organizations like Miss Earth Philippines.

As, a proud black man may I ask you a question? judging by your photo your ethnicity appears to be black or at least half. If i'm wrong I apologize, Just out of curiosity. Do find black women attractive? There have only been 6 black MU's I think there should be more and I'm sure there will. I think the Philippines is the most obnoxious & racist country regarding MU. They behave as if they have a monopoply on the brand. They do not. Really sad to see a black man, exault women of another ethnicity over their own. There are some really beautiful black women in the world. Too bad you don't see it or refuse to recogonize it. I understand why the IMG/FOX era want to do the five-five-five-five era so that a region like Europe have a shot to compete for the Miss Universe title, but are some nations trying to win? Probably not.
You're still going to have the Africa and Asia-Pacific region and Latinas hog up most of the Top 20 semifinal spots.
Regional is much better because all the country epecially Asian countries will have a chance to atleast get a placements in that Miss U competition not just the latin and european country that always reign for the past decade.

2010 and also 2011 has the most interesting semi-finalists. Most of the girls are not from a country that are known to be competitive. Philippines before 2010 hasn’t made yet to the semi-finals since 1999, USA didn’t make it to the semi-finals, which is very rare and most of the girls are from Europe, that are not well-known to be powerful (I think Spain and France are known there to be the bests in Europe). 2011 has the most interesting Top 5 Finalists (Angola, Ukraine, Brazil, Philippines, China)

The cheers for the Philippines said it all. It also feels poetic knowing that after the Philippines failed to make the semis in the 2000s decade, Venus Raj would then beat U.S.A. and Venezuela (the 2 winningest countries in Miss Universe history) for the last spot in that year's Top 15 and go on to spark her country's ongoing semifinal streak in the competition and their best decade ever in global pageants.
But how Venus Raj got to Las Vegas to compete in Miss Universe 2010 despite all the hoopla surrounding here is still a story in itself.

I think it's a good thing if you notice all the top 15 are mostly Latina's ... with the regions cut it's all fair for all the countries for each region .. although I have to agree that it takes too long for them to announce them all wish they remove the interview part and just call them all, one by one by region

It’s so frustrating bc it seems so rushed and all. AND CAN WE ALSO PLEASE GET SOMEONE ELSE TO HOST MU. I’m getting tired of the whole 2015 mistake joke. They’re unnecessarily dragging it on too much! I think Venus Raj achievement is the greatest to filipinos since she broke the 11 year drought the elation of filipinos seeing Venus Raj in The Top 15 is probably greater than our elation when Pia or Catriona won Miss Universe in 2015 and 2018.
Venus Raj did set the tone for the Philippines' resurgence and renaissance in not only Miss Universe, but also Philippine pageantry as a whole.
The last spot announcement for the Philippines became iconic. They shocked the universe when they chaotically cheered Venus Raj. All girls were nervous when they heard the loud cheers for the Philippines.
From being crowned Miss Universe Philippines 2010 to their organization, Binibining Pilipinas, dethroning her because of alleged birth certificate issues to the Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs unleashing the Jus Saniguinis principle that forced Binibining Pilipinas to reinstate her as Miss Universe Philippines 2010 to finishing fourth runner-up that ended the Philippines' Miss Universe placing drought and being the catalyst for the Philippines' best decade in pageantry ever.

Miss Universe is just an ordinary typical international pageant for us Filipinos, it has been 10years of unplacement for Philippines in Miss Universe until Maria Venus Raj surprised us all out of nowhere she rose up.. i wonder what could have happened if Venus got dethroned from her National title.. BPCI had there karma here, Venus' placement slapped them like literally. this was the start of glorious Philippines placement in Miss Universe, 10 glorious years of Miss Universe placements with two wins.
Well, the Venus Raj saga could've been the last straw that broke the camel's back for Madame Stella Marquez de Araneta and Binibining Pilipinas.
Had Venus Raj been dethroned and their replacement Nicolette Henson was unplaced, a lot of Filipinas would've turned their backs on Binibining Pilipinas forever and join other organizations like Miss Earth Philippines because of their shady dealings.
The Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs was the main factor in forcing BPCI to reinstate Venus as MUPH 2010 because of the Jus Saniguinis principle in the Philippine nationality law.

This edition has so many surprises:
- Philippines' first placement in the 21st century after 1999
- Philippines being the only Asian who went in the Top 15
- USA being the host country went unplaced
- It is impossible for Venezuela now to go into the three-win streak of the Miss Universe crown as they were also unplaced
- Guatemala's last and most recent placement. They were snubbed big time in Miss Universe.

1999- The last time that Philippines enter the Top 10 and USA missed it.
After 10 years. In 2010 Philippines made a comeback in Top 15 and USA missed to enter the semifinals again.
Also, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Jamaica and South Africa made the semifinals in 1999 just like in 2010.

In addition to that, Mexico was in the top 3 that year as well.

I dont know why because of this year (2010) was my first to watched Miss Universe. And i dont know that there's a pageant like this and I was amazed by this year's amazing format,opening dance and crowning moment.
This also the reason why I admire Xemina Navarrete(Miss Mexico) even up to this present. 😊
