NOTIFICATION SQUAD: I hope you’ve all had a pleasant Christmas! Amidst the excitement of the Christmas season I caught up with my good friend Natsuki in Tokyo, to play the world’s smallest arcade game. I bought both games as Christmas presents to myself, as Father Christmas frequently lets me down, so I’m forced to take matters into my own hands. We put the $45 Retro Arcade Pacman up against its tiny $20 cousin to see which is best and Natsuki and I both end up with our favourites. But which one would you rather own? And should Natsuki and I unbox more stuff? Let us know below!
Abroad Perspective Ah go the mini mini arcade one, got my uncle one for Xmas except it has over 200 games on it and isn’t pacman specific - more unboxing videos I reckon! Just don’t spend too much before your bank account starts hurting... nonetheless, love this and hope you had an amazing Chris-tmas!
"Computer games don't affect kids; I mean if Pac-Man affected us as kids, we'd all be running around in darkened rooms, munching magic pills and listening to repetitive electronic music." - Marcus Brigstocke (1989)
Did you know that the original name for Pac-Man was Puck-Man? You'd think it was because he looks like a hockey puck but it actually comes from the Japanese phrase 'Paku-Paku,' which means to flap one's mouth open and closed.
But if it was derived from Paku-Paku, Pac-Man or Pac-Pac makes more sense than Puck-Man. There was an interview on some PS2 game where I heard the Puck-Man thing, couldn't remember the reason though. I think somebody from Namco (or possibly Midway) said they changed it from Puck-Man because it was too close to Fuck-Man.
Man, I am digging these abroad perspective videos! Like stepping back in a time machine to your earlier videos (that made me subscribe in the first place)!
These are awesome ! Ive seen in stores the other Arcade Classics in smaller version, Centipede, Donkey Kong, Quebert, Frogger, Asteroids, Joust and others. But Pac-Man is the best!!! Have a Happy New Year Chris!! Since watching all your videos I have been wanting to tour Japan. I cant wait!
Happy New Year to you and your cohorts, especially Natsuki! Always eagerly anticipate your new videos. My wife and I love Japan (her first trip last October; I've been coming infrequently on military or business trips since 1973!). We're coming back next fall for what I call "The Daiso Tour." My wife Maria discovered these 100-Yen stores and loves them (I make sure I have some good reading on my cellphone Kindle app!). Forget temples and shrines! We'll be hopping the Shinkansen for Sapporo and shop our way back to Tokyo.
I really enjoyed this video, Chris. I remember having a table top Pac-Man and a few others when I was around 10 or 11 back in the 1980s when these games came out.

Chris you should checkout New Wave toys. They make Replicades of all kinds of old arcade cabinets. I have Tempest and it's like someone shot the arcade machine with a shrink ray, very awesome.
Very cool. In my My Arcade collection, my favorite is Mappy. The Pacman and Mrs. Pacman (yep, saw one at Walmart a while back) ones are the ones I have not gotten yet.
Chris: "Christmas present!" Natsuki: " Owww ^_^ " Chris: "Christmas present to myself." Chris, you're a monster! Bytheway, happy new year :) Wish you and Natsuki all best :)
My farther always tells me how he had an original pong console in his barracks whilst deployed in Germany, forever jealous i may turn up at his house with something similar. I think i'd prefer the bigger one but also like the lit up panel at the top of the small one. Hope you had a great Christmas Chris, much love from back in the U.K.
I'm kinda curious what Natsuki thinks "Justice" actually means and wished that Chris would try to ask him so he could explain. Because there were something about this time that made it clearer that it's probably differing quite alot from the normal definition. My guess would be that he has only seen the word in shonen manga and anime for heroes and stuff without enough context so maybe he thinks it's an elevated way to say how good something or someone are. Since he said that it's "justice pacman" and the other time "justice delicious" it fits alot better if he truly believes it means "really good" or something similar.
Definitely would love more unboxing videos as they're simple and we can still see and hear Natsuki's opinions. Hopefully they don't become too expensive either; don't want you breaking the bank, especially as TH-cam is being finicky with monetization.
I remember years ago there was a sort of exhibition here in Dublin called Game On I think, where they got together a load of old arcade machines and consoles with games together, and you could go around and play them. It was really fun, even though i was a kid and couldnt appreciate it as much as I didnt know a whole lot about old games I found it really fun and cool. I had a lot of fun playing pac man :)
Chris, at the rate you're uploading these awesome and fun videos (particularly with Natsuki in tow), this channel might end up getting more views than your main Aboard in Japan channel. Lol
The Micro reminded me of my friends bringing Donkey Kong Arcade a little bigger than it to school back in the early 90's and we were impressed by it. But gotta say I love the Tiny keychain version better though.
And today I learned all my notifications for Abroad Perspective AND Abroad in Japan were switched to "personalized" for some reason. Guess my Sunday will be spent catching up.
As an overgrown child/man, I buy a lot of S.H.Figuarts and Figma from Japan. They're about 1/12 scale, somewhere between the two in size. One of japans many companies released a heap of 'classic' games machines and they weren't even active. Just a detailed case with a decal on the screens. And they cost about the same as the small unit. That is one helluva good buy Mr Broad.

Definitely more even though I haven't seen the video
You should find some random things from Pokemon or nintendo, some of that merch in Japan can be pretty questionable
I was gonna say when did you change the channel name all confused 😂 you must post here often. 😜 Love ya man
