NOTIFICATION SQUAD: If I hadn't seen this hot spring water with my own eyes, I'm not sure I'd have believed it was even real. Tsuru no Yu onsen really is on another level.
Amazing to be back in Akita after our ill-fated stint on Journey Across Japan in the area!
At last on this trip we could do the region justice, by rolling in some snow and splashing around in a hot spring. Away we go 🍻

There are so many reasons to go to Akita between yours and Sharla’s channel. I wish I could just live there for a month and experience everything.
Thanks for the video and for sharing all the hidden gems of the North. I’ve never been interested in the city or shopping and what-have-you of Tokyo much (although I know there are beautiful places). I’m mainly in it for the food. So your channel has always appealed to me. I hope you guys never stop showing all North Japan has to offer. There’s nowhere else I’d rather go for my first trip now, and I couldn’t be more excited for when that day finally comes.😊

One of my very favorite things to do in the winter as a child was to sit in the hot tub for a while, then run into the woods and roll around in the snow, then get back in the hot tub. It would make you feel all weird and tingly and was a lot of fun for some reason. Children are strange.

Thank you for showcasing the Tazawako area. I always love hanging around there (especially in the summer time).

Please visit Taenoyu onsen next time! Tsurunoyu is always the Nyutou onsen shown in TH-cam videos, but Taenoyu and the other Nyutou onsen are amazing too! Hands down the actual onsen in Taenoyu are better than Tsurunoyu, imo 😊 the interior of the building is incredible too, lots of dimly lit wooden corridors and the mixed gender "infinity pool" style onsen overlooking the flowing river is amazing 😍 the food is also exceptional and you're treated like royalty by the staff! One of their 7 baths in particular at Taenoyu, is outside and small, pebbles on the bottom and faces an old, moss covered tree, and at the base of the tree's trunk is a little statue that gives super Ghibli vibes when you notice it, like a little spirit watching you as you bathe haha, it took me by surprise at first!
Also the fact you can "onsen hop" with the special pass and the little shuttle bus with the onsen barrel on it's roof are highlights of the Nyutou onsen region!

Glad you went back to Kakunodate after the weather didn't work out for Journey Across Japan. I stayed in the same kura last year and it brought back great memories seeing it again. It felt unreal getting to stay in a place like that

I was actually just in Kakunodate two weeks ago! We went to the Hiburi Kamakura, which was insanely cool, and then saw the town during the day. Everyone in Kakunodate was super nice and welcoming, and it may have been the most genuine experience I've had with locals in Japan to date.

As someone coming from Finland, it's always a joy to my cold, frozen heart to see people around the world discovering the absolutely blissfully euphoric combo of sauna + rolling in the snow. 😌 Whenever there's a chance, next time I double dare you should definitely try ice swimming >>> guaranteed it's 20 times better 気持ち (also possibly worse, depending how you look at it I guess). Looking forward to that nevertheless, cheers! \../

クリスとシャラ私の大好きな鶴の湯と角館を紹介してくれてありがとう東北はunderrated だから嬉しいです🙏I’m from Aomori Japan neighbour to Akita region and I’ve been in Tsurunoyu onsen few times but doesn’t matter how many times I go there, this place is most stunning place in Japan it’s like time travelling back to the Samurai era, nothing fancy but preserved very well with the beautiful nature, second choice I recommend “Tae no yu “ next to Tsurunoyu, cozy and little fancier than Tsurunoyu, perfect place for ladies.

In the kindest possible way, I wanted to let Chris know that the way to say Hearth is "Harth".
P.s. Long time subscriber to Chris and also a slightly shorter time for Sharla but watch her videos a long time back, too. And semi regular visitor to Japan for work and then for holidays, because I love it so much (I'm on my 6th time and want to come back to visit the very north). Japan is literally the place i tell everyone they have to go despite the flight costs there from the UK. It's worth it. So please let me stay, I promise to be a good boy and not interrupt again.
