The weather and the blue skies and the clean air definitely make a difference to your everyday feeling of being upbeat. I lived in London for a year and I loved it and all of the new experiences I had, but in Winter it was dark when I left for work and was dark when I got home. It was grey throughout the day and at the end of the day when I got off the tube in darkness, ducked into a store to get a frozen meal, caught a bus and finally arrived home, I wasn't interested (and either was anybody else) in anything other than going to bed to start the same day again the next day. I wouldn't change a thing about my time away from Australia, but, it is really hard to beat our lifestyle and weather. I loved being in the snow and experiencing a cold Christmas Day, but it is not something I would prefer to what I have here. Do glad you are loving it. Australia really seems to suit you
I miss the Long summer days though. Sitting in a beer garden by a farmers field at 10pm and its still light is unique to the northern hemisphere of North Europe. It's dark by 8.30pm here in Adelaide in summer.
You're not the only one - my mother moved with me to Australia without knowing a thing about it. Not even a word of English. I think she just liked the sound of the name.
im with you girl... im from salford, moved here 6 years ago with my aussie girl (lucky me) and living in sydney (west sydney to be exact) and i love it here .. would never move back home, all i miss is my family but they can visit me lol
I like how you mentioned travel opportunities! Ive heard a lot of people moan saying you can't travel from Australia... but In the last few years I've travelled to so many places from Sydney..Tassie, QLD, Bali, Korea, Vietnam, Taiwan, Thailand, New Caledonia, Vanuatu (there's probably more).. I feel there is so many cheap flights if your willing to go no frills.. plus we bought a camper van! There's so much to do! x
Very good, so I had a look at a video you made 8 months ago. Hard to believe they are the same person. Most obviously, 2023 Milly had a strong English accent where as 2024 Milly pretty much talks normally. And 2024 Milly looks much happier, healthier and self-confident than last years model. The fresh air has done you good.
Thinking outside the square here. I have driven to NT more times than I have flown. Make a road trip out of it. So much to see and do in between Sydney and Darwin.
Hmm i know lots of brits that have left. Gone home, Europe or Asia. Loads of Aussies live in the uk many very successful from artists to business leaders. Adam hills openly admits he loves living in the uk and had become a citizen. The point is people like places differently to another.
What the actual heck! I also grew up in London, lived in Salford for 5 years and I've been living in Sydney for the past 4 years! I'm not quite as unique as I'd thought 😂
Milly you're lovely. I'm an Aussie and I think you gave a good assessment of what to expect. I've lived in 3 continents and I must say Australia is a gem run by dopes but whatever it's a magic place to live... thanks ❤
Well done. A good approximation on the Lifestyle and the myth about spiders in the big cities. If the animals & spiders were all killers here & everywhere, there would be none of us living successfully and happily here! Again, well done on your video and I hope your life is happy, healthy and prosperous here in Australia.
There are a lots of British families still moving to Australia, and are much happier in Australia than they were in the UK. Acccording to their TH-cam channels, Australia is a paradise.
@Smart_Tamaha Yes, I know, that's why I said I know I'm not the norm. However, there are many that just don't get on there. Look up the phrase 'ping pong pom'. We don't tend to shout about it over social media tho, as whinging videos aren't great content. There are many good things about aus, b7t also many bad. It's not what most people think its like, but ofc it depends on what you're looking for. A few things I didn't like: 1. it's extremely controlled and very much a nanny state and they're so strict with EVERYTHING. 2. The driving speeds are soooo slow and its very easy to get fined just for 3kms over, and double points on public holidays. 3. Most of the main roads have expensive toll charges 4. The police are not friendly, and quite brutal. I quite like UK police. 5. The cost of owning a car is so expensive. You have to pay stamp duty on them and luxury car tax over a certain amount. 6. Politics is an absolute shambles (I know uk is too!) 7. Depending on what state you choose to live in, the weather may not be that good. Milly touched on it in this video, but what she failed to mention is that the houses are FREEZING in the winter as they lack insulation, dbl glazing, and a lot of houses don't have heating at all. So there's no winter cosy feeling, you're literally shivering while sat inside! I lived in Sydney for a bit, but mainly in Melbourne. Melb is the coldest, dullest city ever. Weather is very similar to the UK, and no proper beaches. Obviously Queensland is warm all year and gorgeous beaches, but they have jellyfish half the year so you can't go in the ocean! 8. All the shops close at 5pm so if you work full-time, you can't get anything after work. 9. Ppl are very casually racist and they dispise their indigenous folk I could go on, but I won't. Its not the total paradise that everyone thinks. I have dual citizenship but choose to live in London. Anyway sorry for the long one, that just my two cents
Flies? Hasn’t anyone told you about Aerogard personal spray? For your face spray on your hands and then wipe on your face. Spray on your person, like you would hairspray.
Yes yes yes to all of these points, so relatable… I think I need to get better at saying yes to things. All I’ve been doing recently is saying no. Oops😅
Australia's awesome, so long as you don't entertain any delusions of buying a house and you're prepared for the major cities to be surprisingly not as traditionally "Aussie" as you might’ve been lead to believe, it's a fantastic place to eventually become bored with and move on from.
Your vid popped up in my recommendations ( no idea why) . Watched a bit of it. It's OK but i'm not riveted. A comment (since everyone seems to want them). All the words of your 27 minute video would take an hour and a half for an Australian to say ... Ozzie tip .. Slow down. Use less words to say the same thing. True Australian English is Laconic. Strive for that. Enough said.
From my Eastern European point of view I would have thought u were Indian or some sort of south East Asian hadn’t u said u were from the UK… bar the accent n ur name ofc… what a strange concept of homeland people in the west have …

Great video, good to get update on Sydney rental situation was there a few years ago 🏖️🇦🇺👍
I’m making plans to move to Melbourne. I’m in discords with ppl who live there. I’m learning so much now from them.
Yes completely agree! Love this video 🤍🤍🤍
Well thought out and helpful video for anyone new to Australia. We'll done!
Great info and well delivered. Do some videos of running in the mountains please.
Every British person likes Australia better than UK.
the UK is trash
Australians would never come to the UK, all the English bringing thier bad behaviour with them to Australia 🦘.
Not true! I just spent 8 years in aus and came back last year. Way happier now 😊 I know im not the norm 😅
@@LeighIrvinglol give it a while you'll want to go back. Only reason people come back is family

It's a very common misconception, but in fact the ozone hole does not extend over Australia do your research first
True. It is hotter here bc the sun is closer to the earth than in other countries
Fab advice as always x
Chatswood 1 bed Apartmnet sold $955000
At last, common sense. Many in your position just want to compare with what they grew up with. Don't compare, it's different.
Holy crap, your accent is super blended.
Yes I know 😂 a lot of people I meet assume I’m Australian but I personally don’t hear it!
I live in Australia but it’s really not the bad I guess 😅😅

You’re quite stunning.
I can and NEVER will be accused of walking a smelly, even a non smelly dog.

Sydney is not real Australia for sure. Break out!
What a stupid comment. Of course Sydney is real Australia. It’s as real as Bourke, Brissy, Albury, Townsville, etc.
Digress, please..
Sydeny full of English people running away from the UK.

Yeah, I was thrown.... I thought what a flawless Australian accent. Professional linguistics Professional here.
We have people with Indian ancestry that are born in the UK 😂
