I was in sikkim for a week, all I can say is every shop, every cab, every hotel, every travel agency are standing with a naked knife to cut your throat when they know you are a tourist. Sky high prices for everything and when you look for budget, they give you crap. North sikkim tour operators are scam. 10 people in a bolero. Lunch and dinner in package is no less than animal feed. Room they give you for night stay is like a slum. 2 km taxi ride from vajra bus stand to hotel costed me 300 rs. Sikkim is scam and I'll never recommend anyone to visit this place. Period

Major problem in Sikkim is unlike other Himalayan states, they don't have proper public transport to North Sikkim, which leaves tourists to be dependent on tour agencies alone....needs to change though! Sorry to hear about your experiences

Was planning a Sikkim trip, but after watching your video, I am having second thoughts. These scamsters don't realise that just for a few rupees, they are killing the goose that lays golden eggs. I am sure many people are being put-off by seeing such hardships. Authorities should take stern steps, otherwise these people will kill Sikkim tourism.

Hello....am from West Bengal......what u experienced in sikkim is so unfortunate....but I would like to share my thought here....I have been to sikkim numerous times...it is such a lovely place and lovely and trustworthy people also....who r always ready to serve u better...I went North Sikkim both by sharing car (10 people) and also hired cab from gangtok (7 people). Yes , it's true if u take share car with 10people onboard it's a bit tough....perticularly for North Sikkim .....but u r making ur assumption a bit early I think..there r good and bad people everywhere....doesn't mean all r cheaters....plss dnt say like that....for gangtok from deorali to mg Marg or vajra to mg Marg fixed small car rate is approx 200 per car...but there r plenty of local tour operators in gangtok mg Marg who can give u a real good experiance in sikkim....if u have any doubt u can call me also in 8697285116....I am not a tour operator...I just like to travel and share my experience...parveez bhai aap pls 1bar aao sikkim....it's wonderful....and u will not feel cheated....
@@sayan6385 Thanks. What you are saying is correct. There are good and bad people everywhere, but many people here are complaining about North Sikkim operators. The trick is to find the good operators. Another thing is that being from Bengal, you are almost a local there, so it's harder to cheat you, but people from far-off places are easier for them to exploit.

Heena, I totally agree regarding the traveling hassle in Sikkim using shared Boleros/jeep as a solo traveler. Even i do frequent solo trips within india. been doing so since 2018. I recently did solo trip to Gangtok and Pelling. absolutely relatable situation. jab tak 10 people nhi hoga taxi stand se taxi jaega nahi.. and agar aap ek solo traveler hai woh aap ko ek taxi se dusre taxi mai shift karenge depending on various factors. I suggest ke taxi stand mai booking travel ke ek din pehle karna chaiye but don't book any tour room package with them. In my suggestion and experience as a solo traveler, instead of going for tour package with these taxi stands or drivers, book superhost rated homestay in your destination via Airbnb in advance. only use the shared cab for commuting to the destination. Take homestay in a place that is nearby to all sightseeing places. then either you may hike around on foot, or take bike or scooty on rent depending upon availability. Works well for solo travel scenario. Even in Pelling, i stayed in a good homestay and hiked all through the Pelling in one day by foot and did most sightseeing. it went quite good. I hiked around 23 kms on foot and did Pelling Skywalk, chen rezig statue, Sanga tcholing monastery, Pemayangste monastery, rabdanste ruins, etc. because taxi package was 5500 for 4 persons to sightseeing. and i was a solo traveler. no practical way to spend that much on a few hours sightseeing for 1 person. my host in Pelling homestay explained me the route map for hiking on foot. Most sightseeing place were nearby to my Homestay. i started at 8:30 in the morning and by 4:30 pm i was back to homestay completing the sightseeing including having lunch outside and taking ample rest through the hike and photographing the terrain. Interestingly, i was not the only one to do hiking by foot.. i mostly met other tourists especially foreigners who were hiking by foot. usually solo or duo travelers. i have experience in hiking, and I'm used to walking longer distances so i had no issues doing the 23 km hike. But this is not possible if you are not used to walking or jogging or going with family. Like Heena said booking a complete cab if you are with family but i suggest avoid booking rooms through these taxi drivers.. they will end you fixing bad hotels and bad eateries. The booking mismanagement is nothing new.. they are all hands in glove in the process.. they just need the booking money then YOU the customer has to adjust because the weather gets extremely cold after evening. Sar pe chhat chaiye toh adjust karna padega jese v ho.. Hence, my suggestion is to book a homestay in advance via Airbnb. Regarding what i have observed the locals are usually easy going and they do know whatever may come tourist are going to come to Sikkim.. if any tourist talks a bit high tone, I'm not saying about angry. Just talking showing frustration these erstwhile cool Sikkimese locals will lose their minds.. and can get very rude. And the taxi people will leave no chance to squeeze money out of you if you are in some urgency. even the cab i booked in advance for local sightseeing in Gangtok took 800 as advance almost a week before my trip.. total payable was 1600 but after reaching gangtok he never picked my call until the last moment on sightseeing day and sent one of his friend.. it seems it is common for them. his attitude was very casual.. his friend driver was punctual and well behaved though. Also, while booking taxis at taxi stand, they still take cash and wont have change. Means if you are to pay 350 YOU have to pay change of 350.. You cannot pay two denominations of inr 200 and expect them to return a 50/ INR even if you politely ask "sir change nhi hoga" they will not even look at your face and rudely say "change nhi hone se booking nhi hoga" If you are solo traveling within Sikkim make sure have sufficient and sufficient change money in cash especially for shared cab booking or amy other things like eating in any diner.. majority dont offer online payment due to unstable network. If you're a family, i suggest booking via proper tour operator... atleast you will get decent hotels. but there is hassle in this as well... during sightseeing, the cab driver will constantly nag you to quickly complete the sightseeing.. i have seen it happen in my own eyes to other travelers who were traveling in package tour. The driver will heckle them to quickly wrap up one place to make way to another one. I guess at the end, the only good thing that makes all these travel struggle worth is the beautiful landscape, winding roads, himalyaan ranges, starlit nights and snowcapped mountain ranges in Sikkim.
Same experience in gangtok to nathula trip.. We were 5 people hired a cab which was told to be max or sumo but after waiting 2 hours late from scheduled departure we were given such a car which don't hv even glasses in the window but curtains. From changu to nathula we were asked for 5 more persons to be acomodated as clubbing which we allowed.. But the boarded 10 more passengers resulting a total of 15 heads in a car which have a max capacity of 10 heads to seat tightly. Moreover at the gangtok depot from where we should get that cab seeing the car we refused to board in such kind of cab, as it is very hectic to travel a area having -3°c in such a car hving curtains & we have paid for a normal car & the assured us about that they abused us severely & we refused to take the trip. Now below the belt they started to threaten us to harass us legally on behalf of the govt pass prepared for travel to nathula. They even threatened us that they would not let us return from sikkim if we dnt take the trip that time Or pay them in full. As the payment was done before at the hotel they ceased the money in full & compelled us to take the trip in that adverse situation. I am much astonished why the govt is not taking actions against such mischief becoz i m not the only to face this but there were several others. As of me I would never visit sikkim again neither would recommend any of my relatives to do so.. May be the govt is much relaxed to lose a few travellers like us but they should remember that crowd is consist of people itself & there economy is fully dependent on tourism. I was planning to visit Sikkim but after watching & reading the experiences people have shared, I must admit that it discouraged me to even think about going there. I really wish the authorities look into it otherwise I am afraid no one would want to visit north Sikkim because no one wants to face these horrible experiences. I feel people should come back happy and take good memories with them but incidents like these ruin such beautiful places.
You are a true traveller. Hat's off to your patience. Sikkim don't use technology for travel bookings. They have a big syndicate for this. That's why it's pathetic. They give miserable headache while traveling and spoiled the entire trip. I have similar kind of experience while booking in the last hours. So particular in Sikkim I book atleast 3-4 days earlier. Also, we have to be wary of their verbal contracts and double check everything before commiting payment. My suggestion is that plz send ur version to sikkim tourism board, just to check their response without any keeping any hope of redressal.
Experience life in all possible ways -- good-bad, bitter-sweet. Experience all the dualities . Your helplessness, disappointment, difficulty, pain, anxiety could be felt in the vlog, it's quiet natural but be thankful that will make you more strong and mature.. There are some days when nothing goes well. It was such a day. Bad days has a best story, lesson to be learnt and a great experience. The tour agents should be more professional and organised in organising such a tour. You will not find Jio network in the route of chungthang-lachen-Gurudongmar lake. Ive also heard similar tales about the North Sikkim Taxi Union and the way they conduct the tour.... But I was lucky to have experienced a better service in April this year 😊

Now the difference would be the organizer and which cab driver he is going to allot For me, I was thankful to get the services booked from Snoopy Tours and Treks in MG Marg.... Of course, I got a recommendation from a friend, who availed their tie-up services in the past...... In my time, they charged 3.5k per head per person...

Sad to hear that but if ur travelling alone you need to ask the hotelier or best visited the tourism help desk in gangtok or rangpo .. but my suggestion is to book ur travel from a guinune agency.. will cost you Lil more that what you payed to the taxi driver plus the agency will be responsible for ur safe travel..

So many tourists have faced this in Sikkim. Most of the tour operators are fraud and provide worst services. I went to north sikkim with my family in November 1st week. I was lucky enough that i got a very good guide who made our trip really memorable. He is a very good driver and we have booked the package directly from him and homestays were good too. But for solo travellers booking entire vehicle is costly so shared Package is a good option but finding a genuine one is really difficult.

This is the reality of Sikkim. Being a sikkimes I know how bad some travel agent n some drivers behave with the tourist. Normal days the 2 ngt 3 days vhcl charge is 10500 to 12000 for sumo or bolero n 15000 to 18000 for Innova n xlyo. But during season the vhcl price hike upto 28000 for sumo n bolero. N upto 40000 for luxury vhcl. Vry pathetic.

We faced worst situation in East Sikkim. 1st driver came late 1.5 hours. 2nd started taking very short breaks within few distance and goes out of the car without any proper communication. 3rd didn't complete the tour till the decided point according to him roads were blocked, but other vehicles were going when I told him, he replied they will get stuck. 4th after returning to the homestay he started quarrelling by accusing that I had broken the seat, when I countered by saying how can I break the seat I was seating just beside you & you allowed me to break the seat & didn't uttered a single word. According to him as I am tall I broke the seat. Things escalated to hand to hand fighting. But negotiations took place he demanded to replace complete seats later 200 was paid. It completely destroyed our experience. Later when we inquired about it we got to know that many of the drivers use drugs tablets & our travel agency was also involved in all these.
This is not the first time I have heard this .These cab drivers and tour operators of sikim are cheater. They only depend on tourist from Bengal still they do all these things.Time is coming that we should boycott visiting sikim
Sikkim is a place only to go in off season. I have personal experience when i went during durga puja and the cab i paid for local sight seen is 2700 instead of 1600. On top of that cab was supposed to be with us for 8 hours, but he denied and kind of kicked us out in just 3 hours. He was so rude that we were bound to leave that cab and came back to hotel.
really saddened to hear about your experience Heena, I'm sure it was a case of wrong people at the wrong time. The agency is the one who scammed y'all and I'm quite sure they aren't even the locals in the first place so they're just defaming Sikkim for some thousands. And the thing about drivers is that most of the them here aren't even from Sikkim, so us even as locals, we get charged a lotttt, so yeah! that is definitely the harsh reality of Sikkim. For people planning to not visit after watching this video, please see for other people's experiences too, there are a lot of good agencies (**always check if it's genuine**) and also govt tourism operators to help you out, and in any case you feel like you're being rigged, there is always a police on patrol in the vicinity for your help, so do not hesitate. We always want to treat our guests well, but unfortunately there are always people who have other ideas.
If you had caught on your video - all of your experience - bargaining, argument, disappointment, bitter feelings etc - and shared them all ( you showed some) with your audience that would have made your vlog much more interesting . My Sikkim experience was truly pathetic and forget about budget travelling. I would have easily done an international trip in that budget. The private taxis charge 50 Rs per kilometre.

You got the wrong approch....vehicle charge alone will not cost 30k....u got very wrong information....charges depends on types of vcl luxury and normal.....normal vcl will cost maximum 4000 per day...so lachen lachung yumthng will altogether....3 days vcl hire...so it will go total....12000 minimum.....in peak season it will go upto 19000 k...,this is only for vcl charge...so if u include food and lodge...then it will go to above 20k....that again depends on pax....north sikkim vchicke charge depend on days ur taking....
Its really sad to know all these things about Sikkim coz it's a heavenly beautiful place with beautiful people.. But what u faced it was really unfortunate.. Pro Tip: Never ever go Sikkim or Darjeeling in Durga Puja or Diwali.. This is the peak season for Sikkim, And you got the costliest package.. it would have better if you booked personal cab.. Coz its cost 4500-5500 only.. and if you had taken the package for your vacation then you have contacted the tour operators they are more loyal even if they are charging you commission.. faida v kya hua apko tour operators se contact na krk.. apne ek sath do drivers ko bhada v de dya or uska commission v vo le lya.. I've visited sikkim 4/5 times, Most unorganised, there is no fare reliability, people always tries to charge more, in peak season time you are not a human being, to them you are only business. But the local people are very nice, even the actual hotel owners are very nice and sobar. And one more thing, most of the drivers(not all, I have met a few good driver) always remains drunk through out the tour.

I have seen comments from people of West Bengal and many of them comment "Boycott Sikkim". I faced so many times racist incidents and comments from locals in Kolkata but still for some low cultured people I can't say "Boycott Kolkata" or "Don't go to Kolkata". Just the way Sikkim needs income from tourists similarly tourists need cheap and nearest vacation. It's kind of give and take scenario. I have seen some tourists ordering drivers in Sikkim as if drivers are their "servants" which goes against the culture of Sikkim and Darjeeling hills because here we treat all levels of people equally and call each other respectfully(which may not be same case in other places of India where servants and drivers are treated very low). I even encountered a senior fellow from Kolkata who ordered the driver as if he was a servant. Immediately the driver got crazy and landed in heated arguments. I even found some West Bengal tourists called the driver "dalaal" when he parked the vehicle in the hotel where he didn't get "free food". The driver was cool and calm otherwise no one would be tolerant when he is labelled as "dalaal" in front of his face even if he is not. My point is for a few incidents, let's not generalise the entire thing. Everywhere it's mutual respect that works and if you have an arrogant/dominating mindset, you're gonna suffer everywhere you go. If the driver is harassing tourists unnecessarily and charging an unnecessary amount , the Sikkim government allows tourists to lodge the complain. I wish the vlogger to have a safe and pleasant experience in her next trips. 🙏.

Ur lachen room problem is because of tour operator lack of adavance communication with hotel owner.....basically during season this kind of thing happens in sharing..,due to forward Boling cases.....I recommend not to do sharing booking for family travellers....solo can afford
Best thing what we did was, we only took the car from the agency. Rest hotels food we did all by ourselves own. In this way, it was a hassle free experience.
We have just returned from Sikim visit on 28 th October having 8days prograam. It is just as Risk and as bad experince from other states tour. Since Pangong Airport the airport Nearest to Gangtok is not running on time. But the Airlines have been booking tickets from Kolkatta. In which we had booked on and off journey. Aviation Department is not taking any Action. We have to pay more money and less time. Every body has one intention just to loot from tourists. 2nd the all agencies are United to misbehave, Misguide, and taking so much extra money from tourists. There is no such extraordinary thing which is the Beauty of Great HIMAALAY (KANCHAN JANGHA) which one can Explore this in entire North and North-East at the cost of one's Life. One has to pay minimum 1 lakh for this. When in asked on our return journey the Driver told that this tourist State will be closed very soon. Since he is from WB.

I think u made a mistake of not going to a travel agent in gangtok and booking a budget package rather than doing it from Vajra stand directly I can see u went to a travel agent in Leh also so I don't understand why you choose to do it urself from the taxi stand in gangtok which i would not recommend...I'm from gangtok and even I feel it's not feasible for u to do it directly I definitely feel u should have gone to a tours and travels in MG Marg or talked to ur hotel who would have arranged a trouble-free tour that too in ur budget Huge mistake of going to the stand directly and booking

I was in sikkim for a week, all I can say is every shop, every cab, every hotel, every travel agency are standing with a naked knife to cut your throat when they know you are a tourist. Sky high prices for everything and when you look for budget, they give you crap. North sikkim tour operators are scam. 10 people in a bolero. Lunch and dinner in package is no less than animal feed. Room they give you for night stay is like a slum. 2 km taxi ride from vajra bus stand to hotel costed me 300 rs. Sikkim is scam and I'll never recommend anyone to visit this place. Period

Major problem in Sikkim is unlike other Himalayan states, they don't have proper public transport to North Sikkim, which leaves tourists to be dependent on tour agencies alone....needs to change though! Sorry to hear about your experiences

Was planning a Sikkim trip, but after watching your video, I am having second thoughts. These scamsters don't realise that just for a few rupees, they are killing the goose that lays golden eggs. I am sure many people are being put-off by seeing such hardships. Authorities should take stern steps, otherwise these people will kill Sikkim tourism.
I would say there are many other beautiful places in our India with better system!

Hello....am from West Bengal......what u experienced in sikkim is so unfortunate....but I would like to share my thought here....I have been to sikkim numerous times...it is such a lovely place and lovely and trustworthy people also....who r always ready to serve u better...I went North Sikkim both by sharing car (10 people) and also hired cab from gangtok (7 people). Yes , it's true if u take share car with 10people onboard it's a bit tough....perticularly for North Sikkim .....but u r making ur assumption a bit early I think..there r good and bad people everywhere....doesn't mean all r cheaters....plss dnt say like that....for gangtok from deorali to mg Marg or vajra to mg Marg fixed small car rate is approx 200 per car...but there r plenty of local tour operators in gangtok mg Marg who can give u a real good experiance in sikkim....if u have any doubt u can call me also in 8697285116....I am not a tour operator...I just like to travel and share my experience...parveez bhai aap pls 1bar aao sikkim....it's wonderful....and u will not feel cheated....

The trick is to find the good operators. Another thing is that being from Bengal, you are almost a local there, so it's harder to cheat you, but people from far-off places are easier for them to exploit.

Heena, I totally agree regarding the traveling hassle in Sikkim using shared Boleros/jeep as a solo traveler.
Even i do frequent solo trips within india. been doing so since 2018.
I recently did solo trip to Gangtok and Pelling. absolutely relatable situation.
jab tak 10 people nhi hoga taxi stand se taxi jaega nahi..
and agar aap ek solo traveler hai woh aap ko ek taxi se dusre taxi mai shift karenge depending on various factors.
I suggest ke taxi stand mai booking travel ke ek din pehle karna chaiye but don't book any tour room package with them.
In my suggestion and experience as a solo traveler, instead of going for tour package with these taxi stands or drivers, book superhost rated homestay in your destination via Airbnb in advance.
only use the shared cab for commuting to the destination.
Take homestay in a place that is nearby to all sightseeing places.
then either you may hike around on foot, or take bike or scooty on rent depending upon availability. Works well for solo travel scenario.
Even in Pelling, i stayed in a good homestay and hiked all through the Pelling in one day by foot and did most sightseeing. it went quite good.
I hiked around 23 kms on foot and did Pelling Skywalk, chen rezig statue, Sanga tcholing monastery, Pemayangste monastery, rabdanste ruins, etc.
because taxi package was 5500 for 4 persons to sightseeing. and i was a solo traveler. no practical way to spend that much on a few hours sightseeing for 1 person.
my host in Pelling homestay explained me the route map for hiking on foot. Most sightseeing place were nearby to my Homestay.
i started at 8:30 in the morning and by 4:30 pm i was back to homestay completing the sightseeing including having lunch outside and taking ample rest through the hike and photographing the terrain.
Interestingly, i was not the only one to do hiking by foot.. i mostly met other tourists especially foreigners who were hiking by foot. usually solo or duo travelers.
i have experience in hiking, and I'm used to walking longer distances so i had no issues doing the 23 km hike.
But this is not possible if you are not used to walking or jogging or going with family.
Like Heena said booking a complete cab if you are with family but i suggest avoid booking rooms through these taxi drivers..
they will end you fixing bad hotels and bad eateries.
The booking mismanagement is nothing new.. they are all hands in glove in the process..
they just need the booking money then YOU the customer has to adjust because the weather gets extremely cold after evening.
Sar pe chhat chaiye toh adjust karna padega jese v ho..
Hence, my suggestion is to book a homestay in advance via Airbnb.
Regarding what i have observed the locals are usually easy going and they do know whatever may come tourist are going to come to Sikkim..
if any tourist talks a bit high tone, I'm not saying about angry.
Just talking showing frustration these erstwhile cool Sikkimese locals will lose their minds.. and can get very rude.
And the taxi people will leave no chance to squeeze money out of you if you are in some urgency.
even the cab i booked in advance for local sightseeing in Gangtok took 800 as advance almost a week before my trip.. total payable was 1600
but after reaching gangtok he never picked my call until the last moment on sightseeing day and sent one of his friend.. it seems it is common for them. his attitude was very casual..
his friend driver was punctual and well behaved though.
Also, while booking taxis at taxi stand, they still take cash and wont have change.
Means if you are to pay 350 YOU have to pay change of 350.. You cannot pay two denominations of inr 200 and expect them to return a 50/ INR
even if you politely ask "sir change nhi hoga" they will not even look at your face and rudely say "change nhi hone se booking nhi hoga"
If you are solo traveling within Sikkim make sure have sufficient and sufficient change money in cash especially for shared cab booking or amy other things like eating in any diner.. majority dont offer online payment due to unstable network.
If you're a family, i suggest booking via proper tour operator... atleast you will get decent hotels.
but there is hassle in this as well... during sightseeing, the cab driver will constantly nag you to quickly complete the sightseeing..
i have seen it happen in my own eyes to other travelers who were traveling in package tour. The driver will heckle them to quickly wrap up one place to make way to another one.
I guess at the end, the only good thing that makes all these travel struggle worth is the beautiful landscape, winding roads, himalyaan ranges, starlit nights and snowcapped mountain ranges in Sikkim.

Same experience in gangtok to nathula trip.. We were 5 people hired a cab which was told to be max or sumo but after waiting 2 hours late from scheduled departure we were given such a car which don't hv even glasses in the window but curtains. From changu to nathula we were asked for 5 more persons to be acomodated as clubbing which we allowed.. But the boarded 10 more passengers resulting a total of 15 heads in a car which have a max capacity of 10 heads to seat tightly. Moreover at the gangtok depot from where we should get that cab seeing the car we refused to board in such kind of cab, as it is very hectic to travel a area having -3°c in such a car hving curtains & we have paid for a normal car & the assured us about that they abused us severely & we refused to take the trip. Now below the belt they started to threaten us to harass us legally on behalf of the govt pass prepared for travel to nathula. They even threatened us that they would not let us return from sikkim if we dnt take the trip that time Or pay them in full. As the payment was done before at the hotel they ceased the money in full & compelled us to take the trip in that adverse situation.
I am much astonished why the govt is not taking actions against such mischief becoz i m not the only to face this but there were several others. As of me I would never visit sikkim again neither would recommend any of my relatives to do so.. May be the govt is much relaxed to lose a few travellers like us but they should remember that crowd is consist of people itself & there economy is fully dependent on tourism. Too much adamency may cost them more some days..

I was planning to visit Sikkim but after watching & reading the experiences people have shared, I must admit that it discouraged me to even think about going there. I really wish the authorities look into it otherwise I am afraid no one would want to visit north Sikkim because no one wants to face these horrible experiences. You are a true traveller. Hat's off to your patience. Sikkim don't use technology for travel bookings. They have a big syndicate for this. That's why it's pathetic. They give miserable headache while traveling and spoiled the entire trip. I have similar kind of experience while booking in the last hours. So particular in Sikkim I book atleast 3-4 days earlier. So sorry for ur bad experience. Thanx for explaining it all. I have to rethink on visiting and availing shared taxi in Sikkim. Also, we have to be wary of their verbal contracts and double check everything before commiting payment.
My suggestion is that plz send ur version to sikkim tourism board, just to check their response without any keeping any hope of redressal.
Experience life in all possible ways -- good-bad, bitter-sweet. Experience all the dualities . Your helplessness, disappointment, difficulty, pain, anxiety could be felt in the vlog, it's quiet natural but be thankful that will make you more strong and mature.. There are some days when nothing goes well. It was such a day. Bad days has a best story, lesson to be learnt and a great experience. The tour agents should be more professional and organised in organising such a tour. You will not find Jio network in the route of chungthang-lachen-Gurudongmar lake. Sad to hear that but if ur travelling alone you need to ask the hotelier or best visited the tourism help desk in gangtok or rangpo .. but my suggestion is to book ur travel from a guinune agency.. will cost you Lil more that what you payed to the taxi driver plus the agency will be responsible for ur safe travel..

So many tourists have faced this in Sikkim. Most of the tour operators are fraud and provide worst services. I went to north sikkim with my family in November 1st week. I was lucky enough that i got a very good guide who made our trip really memorable. He is a very good driver and we have booked the package directly from him and homestays were good too. But for solo travellers booking entire vehicle is costly so shared Package is a good option but finding a genuine one is really difficult.

This is the reality of Sikkim. Being a sikkimes I know how bad some travel agent n some drivers behave with the tourist. Normal days the 2 ngt 3 days vhcl charge is 10500 to 12000 for sumo or bolero n 15000 to 18000 for Innova n xlyo. But during season the vhcl price hike upto 28000 for sumo n bolero. N upto 40000 for luxury vhcl. Vry pathetic.

We faced worst situation in East Sikkim. 1st driver came late 1.5 hours.
2nd started taking very short breaks within few distance and goes out of the car without any proper communication.
3rd didn't complete the tour till the decided point according to him roads were blocked, but other vehicles were going when I told him, he replied they will get stuck.
4th after returning to the homestay he started quarrelling by accusing that I had broken the seat, when I countered by saying how can I break the seat I was seating just beside you & you allowed me to break the seat & didn't uttered a single word. According to him as I am tall I broke the seat. Things escalated to hand to hand fighting. But negotiations took place he demanded to replace complete seats later 200 was paid. It completely destroyed our experience. Later when we inquired about it we got to know that many of the drivers use drugs tablets & our travel agency was also involved in all these.
This is not the first time I have heard this .These cab drivers and tour operators of sikim are cheater. They only depend on tourist from Bengal still they do all these things.Time is coming that we should boycott visiting sikim

Sikkim is a place only to go in off season. I have personal experience when i went during durga puja and the cab i paid for local sight seen is 2700 instead of 1600. On top of that cab was supposed to be with us for 8 hours, but he denied and kind of kicked us out in just 3 hours. He was so rude that we were bound to leave that cab and came back to hotel.
really saddened to hear about your experience Heena, I'm sure it was a case of wrong people at the wrong time. The agency is the one who scammed y'all and I'm quite sure they aren't even the locals in the first place so they're just defaming Sikkim for some thousands.
And the thing about drivers is that most of the them here aren't even from Sikkim, so us even as locals, we get charged a lotttt, so yeah! that is definitely the harsh reality of Sikkim.
For people planning to not visit after watching this video, please see for other people's experiences too, there are a lot of good agencies (**always check if it's genuine**) and also govt tourism operators to help you out, and in any case you feel like you're being rigged, there is always a police on patrol in the vicinity for your help, so do not hesitate. We always want to treat our guests well, but unfortunately there are always people who have other ideas.

My Sikkim experience was truly pathetic and forget about budget travelling. I would have easily done an international trip in that budget. The private taxis charge 50 Rs per kilometre.

You got the wrong approch....vehicle charge alone will not cost 30k....u got very wrong information....charges depends on types of vcl luxury and normal.....normal vcl will cost maximum 4000 per day...so lachen lachung yumthng will altogether....3 days vcl hire...so it will go total....12000 minimum.....in peak season it will go upto 19000 k...,this is only for vcl charge...so if u include food and lodge...then it will go to above 20k....that again depends on pax....north sikkim vchicke charge depend on days ur taking....
Its really sad to know all these things about Sikkim coz it's a heavenly beautiful place with beautiful people.. But what u faced it was really unfortunate..
Pro Tip: Never ever go Sikkim or Darjeeling in Durga Puja or Diwali.. This is the peak season for Sikkim, And you got the costliest package.. it would have better if you booked personal cab.. Coz its cost 4500-5500 only.. and if you had taken the package for your vacation then you have contacted the tour operators they are more loyal even if they are charging you commission.. faida v kya hua apko tour operators se contact na krk.. apne ek sath do drivers ko bhada v de dya or uska commission v vo le lya..

I know your experience was bad but that doesn't mean You will post something that make hatred towards the State.. @@HeenaBhatia In 30k i have covered 10 days in Sikkim with flight and 3 star hotel and even every day explored new cafes . Coz i went there in 1st week of March.. So if you contacted drivers for personal car then it may be a scam that happened to you..

In your video you said wahn log bohat galat bolte h.. Jab ki humne toh aesa experience kiya hi nhi.. Ek log k karan bakiyon pe mt bolo.. Anyways, You will not get this as i told you.. you didn't researched well for the place, though you were brave enough to continue the journey and you sre safe this is more important.. Aisa experience goa me hua tha after booking a hotel online. When we reached he said rooms available nahi so we were shifted to another hotel
I've visited sikkim 4/5 times,
Most unorganised, there is no fare reliability, people always tries to charge more, in peak season time you are not a human being, to them you are only business.
But the local people are very nice, even the actual hotel owners are very nice and sobar.
And one more thing, most of the drivers(not all, I have met a few good driver) always remains drunk through out the tour.
That’s what I experienced too!

You are still so graceful.
If you are frustrated, then it must be extremely bad.
Remember to Stay safe in such situations.

Koi ni baba.. acche bure phases aate jaate rhte hain.. yeh worst experience thaa toh ab yeh maan lo ki is se bura toh kuch ho hi nhi skta… ab sb accha hi accha hoga aage..u keep your calm and know ki how brave you are that you have faced such situation.

I have seen comments from people of West Bengal and many of them comment "Boycott Sikkim". I faced so many times racist incidents and comments from locals in Kolkata but still for some low cultured people I can't say "Boycott Kolkata" or "Don't go to Kolkata". Just the way Sikkim needs income from tourists similarly tourists need cheap and nearest vacation. It's kind of give and take scenario. I have seen some tourists ordering drivers in Sikkim as if drivers are their "servants" which goes against the culture of Sikkim and Darjeeling hills because here we treat all levels of people equally and call each other respectfully(which may not be same case in other places of India where servants and drivers are treated very low). I even encountered a senior fellow from Kolkata who ordered the driver as if he was a servant. Immediately the driver got crazy and landed in heated arguments. I even found some West Bengal tourists called the driver "dalaal" when he parked the vehicle in the hotel where he didn't get "free food". The driver was cool and calm otherwise no one would be tolerant when he is labelled as "dalaal" in front of his face even if he is not. My point is for a few incidents, let's not generalise the entire thing. Everywhere it's mutual respect that works and if you have an arrogant/dominating mindset, you're gonna suffer everywhere you go. If the driver is harassing tourists unnecessarily and charging an unnecessary amount , the Sikkim government allows tourists to lodge the complain. I wish the vlogger to have a safe and pleasant experience in her next trips. 🙏.

Mujhe lagta hai aap booking Sikkim tourism ka official tour operator se tour book krte to itna bura experience nhi rehta. Khair ja rhe hai April me mummy ko lekar, dar lag gya

Ur lachen room problem is because of tour operator lack of adavance communication with hotel owner.....basically during season this kind of thing happens in sharing..,due to forward Boling cases.....I recommend not to do sharing booking for family travellers....solo can afford
Best thing what we did was, we only took the car from the agency. Rest hotels food we did all by ourselves own. In this way, it was a hassle free experience.

We have just returned from Sikim visit on 28 th October having 8days prograam.
It is just as Risk and as bad experince from other states tour. Since Pangong Airport the airport Nearest to Gangtok is not running on time. But the Airlines have been booking tickets from Kolkatta. In which we had booked on and off journey. Aviation Department is not taking any Action. We have to pay more money and less time.
Every body has one intention just to loot from tourists.
2nd the all agencies are United to misbehave, Misguide, and taking so much extra money from tourists.
There is no such extraordinary thing which is the Beauty of Great HIMAALAY (KANCHAN JANGHA) which one can Explore this in entire North and North-East at the cost of one's Life.
One has to pay minimum 1 lakh for this.
When in asked on our return journey the Driver told that this tourist State will be closed very soon. Since he is from WB.
And that’s sad!

North Sikkim me chapati mil pana mushkil hai qki vo bohot height pe hai yaha chaval daal sabji yhi mil raha hai wahi bht badi baat hai yaha ka scenario kuch spiti jesa hi hai
But Spiti me to daal, chawal, in fact roti bhi easily milta h at their few Dabhas

I think u made a mistake of not going to a travel agent in gangtok and booking a budget package rather than doing it from Vajra stand directly
I can see u went to a travel agent in Leh also so I don't understand why you choose to do it urself from the taxi stand in gangtok which i would not recommend...I'm from gangtok and even I feel it's not feasible for u to do it directly
I definitely feel u should have gone to a tours and travels in MG Marg or talked to ur hotel who would have arranged a trouble-free tour that too in ur budget

Hey bro! My booking was pushed to a travel agent only at the end! So it was a travel agency and my 9 other co passenger were there too who booked their trip from travel agent only
