  • Understanding that the other is really the self, is going to lead to new strategies and approaches we haven't considered. The despair comes from the same place the crisis comes from.

I am such a fan! I have followed your work for years now... what I hear is a seeking... a way forward that is uniting rather than dividing. An acknowledgment of the thing that so easily happens when people get caught up in their cause. And the possibility for a path forward that is not self sabotaging, both as individuals and as groups. That is a big thing... and so desperately needed at this time in history.
I am from Asheville, I left the political/ activist scene about the time you moved in. I hope one day we get the opportunity to meet and share thoughts. The world is made better by conscious, self examining, deep thinkers such as yourself. My name is Diana Kruk... I know we have some acquaintances in common... I don’t know if you are still around, but maybe when the universe needs it to happen, we will meet.

Once upon a time, there was a wise man who used to go to the ocean to do his writing. He had a habit of walking on the beach before he began his work.
One day, as he was walking along the shore, he looked down the beach and saw a human figure moving like a dancer. He smiled to himself at the thought of someone who would dance to the day, and so, he walked faster to catch up.
As he got closer, he noticed that the figure was that of a young man, and that what he was doing was not dancing at all. The young man was reaching down to the shore, picking up small objects, and throwing them into the ocean.
He came closer still and called out "Good morning! May I ask what it is that you are doing?"
The young man paused, looked up, and replied "Throwing starfish into the ocean."
"I must ask, then, why are you throwing starfish into the ocean?" asked the somewhat startled wise man.
To this, the young man replied, "The sun is up and the tide is going out. If I don't throw them in, they'll die."
Upon hearing this, the wise man commented, "But, young man, do you not realize that there are miles and miles of beach and there are starfish all along every mile? You can't possibly make a difference!"
At this, the young man bent down, picked up yet another starfish, and threw it into the ocean. As it met the water, he said,
"It made a difference for that one.”

Good story, but I doesn't quite fit the context. Recycling a few cans of soda isn't going to tip the scales, no amount of saving and reusing from one person is enough for that. I think that is what Charles was talking about. If you were, say recycling soda cans for the sake of giving the soda cans a longer and better life then it would fit.

The ultimate truth my friend is Oneness! We live in a holographic Universe where the whole of life is contained in every atom. What effects the atom effects the whole Universe on some level. By throwing a single starfish back into the sea he effects the entire Universe on some level. We are only pretending to be separate. All of life is one!
To have an idea, a thought
      To know exists Universe
      A grand machine is life
To know this world and you
Are but a small part of this machine
A machine that many call God
To realize that all of life
Is One, Is God, Is Love
      Love is all there is!

I am not all that I can be, but I can be more than I am.
