Installing a Fish Finder on a Yamaha Waverunner fishing jet ski

In this video I show you two different jet ski fish finder installations, one on a 2020 Yamaha Waverunner FX SVHO installing a Garmin 7" unit, footwell rod holders and rear seat rod holders with a ride plate mounted transducer, and a older model Yamaha Waverunner with a Garmin 7" unit also with a ride plate mounted transducer, due to the age of this ski I had to retro-fit one of our 2019 onwards FX fish finder mounting brackets to custom fit the dash board of this older model ski. In my opinion a fish finder or sounder is a very important part of a fishing jet ski, sure you may catch fish without one, but the possibilities that open up when having a fish finder installed are endless.

Cant you install the transducer inside the hull instead?
Yes you can buy it's better to purchase the specific transducer for in hull installations, and you also lose some features of the fish finder

Looks awesome, I’m looking to do the same on my brand new 2022 FXHO I wish you were in aus so you could do mine but I’m thinking of having a crack myself. My one question is what is the best way to get the transducer cable back through the hull and keeping it 100% water tight? And do you make any mounts yet to suit a 2022 fxho fish finder
Nice video.. one question though how did you run the cable for the transducer down to the ride plate?
Usually run it through the transom, somewhere that's easy to access from the inside so you can seal the inner and outer surfaces well with a cable entry cover/gland

Mounting the transducer like that. I am assuming you need to be very careful as it might damage quick?
I'm also assuming beaching the ski is out of the question?
The only time you have to be careful is when beaching or launching your ski. I actually designed a spring loaded retractable bracket so you can retract the bracket during beaching the ski
@@GCJetskiFishing that sounds interesting. Is this bracket available for purchase or more information available? I'm installing an echomap UHD and was planning on mounting the transducer in hull as I saw it also works, however not sure how well the clearvu will work.

@@GCJetskiFishing Thank you! I was looking in the wrong spot on the website initially :-) On the footwell rodholders (‘19 Yamaha FX HO), do they come very close to the knees or is there decent clearance?
