I have loved the S6 for quiet some time now. The day I am able to make the purchase from my local Audi dealership, I wont hesitate. The combination of a luxury & performance sedan that can be enjoyed all day round ticks all the boxes for me. Thank you for the honest review
There are certainly a few great sections - though there are many hidden gems a bit further away from Sydney. Very jealous of your E39 - would love to potentially tee up a new M5 vs E39 M5 video at some point. Let me know if you would be interested.
Absolutely beautiful colour here! Loved the video and all the recent Audi coverage Tom! I’m counting down the days until I see you in the new RS3 (I’ll even settle for the RSQ3 haha)
Thank you! Very cool to see a car ordered from the Exclusive colour palette - I’ll admit I wasn’t even aware of that option, and it’s almost reasonably priced at $4,300, given the very low probability that a similar example would come into Australia.
Love it great spec albeit Avant version would be ace - excellent executive express and looks less frumpy that former A6 sedans and glad it’s a petrol - excellent review Tom
Thanks! I take heart in the fact that at least we'll be getting the RS6 wagon, though it'll be another $100k - OMG. Perhaps the Allroad will be an interesting alternative.
Just found your channel and became a subscriber. This is good as you are reviewing cars that are for Australia and not overseas models found on other channels and therefore not relevant to us. The only thing I would like you to do is mention the spare wheel or lack thereof when you do the boot inspection.
I have the previous generation S6 with the 4.0L TTV8. It is the perfect blend of luxury & sport. Fairly relaxed normally but it can get angry enough when required. Highway overtaking at 100km/h + is a strength. Love the V8, but not quite sure if I'd 'upgrade' to the 2.9L TTV6? The V8 can achieve fuel consumption in the low 8.0L per 100km on a country trip.
Hi, I think that this is your best car review until now. From above, from below, by side, beautiful landscape, beautiful car and fer comment. Thank you very much and good luck from EU.
I did not drive the new S6, but driving an A6 50 TDI wagon rental in Switzerland, I found the hard plastic on dashboard (you were referring to on the video) to be cheap, hollow and rather intrusive when passengers climb in and out of the car.
Yep, hence why the extended leather that is standard on the Australian spec S6 should be standard on every A6. These are high end vehicles - the dash and doors need upholstering. Other than that, how was the 50 TDI wagon?
Sweet looking ride, I’d go for the same spec only I’d change the rims and leave the leather black or perhaps go for the red we have the option of here as long as it’s a deep red and not a bright red.
We get three NCO 21" wheel options here, so there should be a style for everybody. Usually the lack of a downsized option would concern me but the ride on the air suspension is fine.
Chasing Cars yes I find sedan boot lids restrict loading items to much over hatch’s and wagons, I still have nightmares over trying to get my lawnmower into the boot of a Sp25 sedan( 2015 model ) even though once in it fitted easily, since than a Golf Alltrack and then a Tiguan have made that an easy task.
Touchscreen climate controls will always be a no-go for me! Even prefer rotary controller for infotainment system. If Mazda made a Hybrid with the internal design language of the 3/CX-30, then that would have been by new car.
Any of them will offer this sort of blend between strong performance and a supple ride - a test drive of each will indicate which one suits you. For me, I'd probably go for the M550i because it is the only one of this trio that still offers a V8 engine, but both the Benz and Audi are superb sedans.
Hey tom glad u making reviews in aus roads especially like sydney. Im stuck of a choice between s5 rs5 and obviously the s6 all 4doors of course and i just duuno how long is a audi gonna last for me and since this pandemic cbb go to a dealer anyway plz help me out with a solution
Thanks for your support! I'd go an RS5 Sportback for this sort of money -- the suspension is still very supple and liveable. As for the pandemic … it's stuffed a lot of plans up, but one good thing is that for the next month or two Audi are offering a complimentary five year warranty / five years' free servicing / on road costs. So if you have the means, now is actually a good time to buy.
Yeah, a bit of common sense with hard controls is a good thing - hopefully we see Audi pull it back a bit at facelift time. OK - not counting the wagon factor - I'd go the RS4 (even if it were a sedan) simply because a smaller, lighter car with the same engine is generally going to be more fun to drive. The RS4 is still beautifully solid and supple - a lovely car. A great compromise between the RS4 and S6 would be the RS5 Sportback, which is my current pick of the RS4/5/C63/M3/GS F segment.
Its a shame Audi Aus left the diesel off the agenda for here at this stage, because its an absolute ripper. Though when we pushed them on the possibility of it being included in the local lineup, they neither confirmed nor denied it . A slight possibly that we could get it as a limited edition vehicle. 100-200 units a yr or so isn't out of the question.
I'm not sure who started that trend of making literally everything a screen, but it's definitely not my preference. So far I think the MBUX system hits the spot, you get buttons, knobs and the screens are there when needed.
Quite concerned by these spy shots of the new S-Class which appears to show MBUX abandoning hard / rotary controls. I think the BMW mix of touch + rotary knob works best.
What a nice car. Fantastic colour. A real thinking man's luxury 4 door sedan.
Love this colour, Sepang Blue.
@Brenton L You reckon he would have bought an ugly Lexus instead? :)

Thanks for watching!
The Old Pacific Hwy. Great road, I drive it all the time in my E39 M5.
This new S6 is a really great offering from Audi, I’d happily own one.

I’m sad to say being a die hard Mercedes nut, this will likely be my next car.... sad but maybe a little excited.
I think you'll enjoy it.

Thank you, Damijan! Glad you enjoyed some scenes of our beautiful country.
I’d expect an S6 to have 0 rattles on bumpy roads, even a 330i has no rattles!
BMW are at an interior quality high point at the moment.

I have the A6 bi turbo V6 diesel 2018 I was thinking of tuning it or get this one?

The red that is available is called "Tango Red". It's not too "bright" & looks good with the Black Pack.
Agree, wagon will be better, so let’s wait Audi brings RS6 in near future.
If you’ve got an extra 100k to splash that works. Still wish we got the choice of the S6 Avant!
Can’t wait for the RS6 👍
Same! Very excited to drive it.
Great review, I love the blue but I would have to take the A7 hatch with no A6 wagon.
I'll have a review sharing my thoughts on the S7 out soon - similar mechanicals but a nice counterpoint to the S6 in the styling department.
Love your reviews!
Thanks, Neil!
Bring on the S7!
Coming up soon!
Touchscreen climate controls will always be a no-go for me! Even prefer rotary controller for infotainment system. If Mazda made a Hybrid with the internal design language of the 3/CX-30, then that would have been by new car.
Agree, a Mazda set up with the CX-30 grade interior and a hybrid system to rival the RAV4 would be killer.
Which would you say is the best car for daily driving but also have the ability to drive fast between s6, 550i , and e43?
Any of them will offer this sort of blend between strong performance and a supple ride - a test drive of each will indicate which one suits you. For me, I'd probably go for the M550i because it is the only one of this trio that still offers a V8 engine, but both the Benz and Audi are superb sedans.
So happy to be Australian and to not get the tdi engines!

Great review, Tom
Thank you!
Really hate how they went touchscreen with the climate controls. Tom, would you have the RS4 or the S6? (not including wagon as a +)
Yeah, a bit of common sense with hard controls is a good thing - hopefully we see Audi pull it back a bit at facelift time. @@chasingcars yeah looked at the RS5 Sportback anf the S7 is priced very similarly.

Which Germanic rival directly competes with the S6, anyways noticed the gains in your arms!?
Oh, Doug! I'd say the M550i is its main rival on performance grounds (even though the 5 Series uses a V8), but the AMG E53 would also be close.
I thought the s6 came with a circular steering wheel, and plastic paddle shifters?? 🤔
I'm not sure who started that trend of making literally everything a screen, but it's definitely not my preference. So far I think the MBUX system hits the spot, you get buttons, knobs and the screens are there when needed.

where is the location of that rooftop with UTS building on the background? :)
A look around on Google Maps nearby will help you find it :)
Will be this S6 available in Europe???
Not sure. Maybe later. TDI for now in Europe, TFSI in Australia and the USA
Real exhaust pipes?
Real, with quad.
Diesel fake.
It would be a fine thing todo get this petrol S6 in Europe
ONE BIG QUESTION...
Does it have real exhaust
Yes it does, all four pipes, noted at 0:45
Beautiful but I'd prefer the chicer E53 AMG sedan Nice review
Two good cars.
Has it got real exhausts?
0:45
Fake & gay they are, Greg.
At the asking price of the S6, I'd take the BMW M550i.
Another cool sedan. Watch our for our M550i review which will go up soon.
Ps. Always wondered what your daily drive is ???????
Golf VI, but these days it's just an errand car in my household as the vast majority of the time I am evaluating new cars for work.
Great car
Wagon would be sweet in that colour
Agreed. Would be a lovely rig.
Did I miss the price?
In Australia, the S6 is $149,900 plus on road costs.
Chasing Cars lol so they reduced their price from January to match BMW. Keep the pressure up on their ridiculous 3 year warranties.
Thanks
Will do.
I think I prefer s6 over m5. But I like m5 also because it drive faster.
The RS6 is a better match for the M5 - we’ll drive it later this year.
i love the looks of the audi s6 and e-class inside and out, but the M550i have something that the two lacks...
Rs4 no longer special same engine being used in the s6😕
450ps/444hp
It seems RS4/5 have a very similar specification as S6/7, and similar price.
That's about right, Lin. All about whether you prefer a smaller and stiffer car, or a larger, softer cruiser.
You sadly can't get a petrol one in Germany for love nor money nor sexual favours either :/
You are missing out!
👍🚀
Ed take off that hat and give us a look at the follicles
Sorry?
Two radars on the front grill? Audi always going one better...
Certainly makes the systems more accurate, but the blocks are quite visible...
Farty Gearbox - 👍
Idk why so many ppl get hyped about the wagon. To me it completely ruins any car, hideous idc about the extra trunk space whooo cares
Design is subjective, but some people’s need for more practicality than a sedan can offer is objective
Fake exhaust pipes... So fake!
