I was very young and that was what I could afford in 2018, a two year old Audi. I've always "melted" whenever an S8 was passing by. I think what I like the most about this car, the 2020 model is the connection is makes to the times I was a teenager and equally, the past, when automobiles were more cars than computers. It's totally unassumptious ( a term people use which doesn't exist in dictionaries). Fast, yet elegant but looking like an oversized Passat. In terms of interior, manufacturers need to stop slamming piano black plastic everywhere. This is the modern corespondent of "chrome galore" in the 2000. Really. That and the touch screens all over the place. I think we are heading to fully voice automated controls. I'm not against technology, but I am against screens angled in a way it reflects the sun....and this car is no exception, especially with the sunroof open.

Though it looks goon on my car in my opinion
10:55 it was very funny watching Doug trying to keep a straight face while repeating “announcement volume”.
I'm gonna buy this in 15 years when it's like ten grand
Good luck with the maintenance costs for a 15yo Audi. Mine was around 10 and was an ongoing investment
@@tmmsplace I'd say it's worth it for a car like this. Although maybe I'll come to regret that when I actually get around to buying one...
Yytt nah in 15 years this could easily be 10-15grand with ~100k miles on the clock
dear lord have fun with that. Electric door handles, 15 different screens, Touchscreens for the climate vents, Mechanical sliding vents, 2 different sunroofs, motion sensors on all the buttons. Ride height that adjusts every time you get in the car that will obviously wear out. And those are just some of the electronics you actually NEED in order to use the car. Let alone all the little mechanical sensors and engine management electronics that will inevitably start to fail.
these cars won't depreciate as quickly as they did 15 years ago. The amount of tech that goes in these bad boys will prevent the cars dropping to 15k when they are 10 years old. If you look at a well maintained 11 year old 750li, they still go for 30 grand
This car is Scotty Kilmer’s true nightmare
Absolutely you’re only safe with Scotty if you buy a Toyota
Scotty Kilmer is a moron.
@@ihteshamkhan4696 a 90s Toyota
Honestly, his advice on what cars are reliable seems to be pretty reasonable.
@@Wrangzilla How's he a moron? From his videos he seems like a competent mechanic who is more prone to enjoying older, simpler technology because there is less complication and therefore less to potentially break.
oof those smudge marks on the center console screens hit hard
Doug the type of dude to give a big family sedan with “great rear leg and head room and a spacious trunk” a 5 out of 10 on practicality
16:36 600 pound feet is roughly 800nm of torque.
Yeah, he converted it the wrong way.
Mistakes happen
It actually has 590 pound feet. That is 800 Newton Meters. Take the number of Nm and multiply it by 0.738 and that is the torque in pound feet.
Came here for that
still a lot
19:35 as Doug Jumps the intersection. ATTA BOY DOUGIE!
10:06 And this is what the touch screens look like even before the car leaves the showroom!
I always make sure ones that leave my dealership are clean!

I see you never get Audi. Its very reliable car if you good maintain it.
@@TheEryk03 reliable compared to what? I work at an insurance company and not only is audi statistically unreliable but you have no idea how many customers with german cars that talks about their problems with the cars, even mercedes that has the least problems out of the bigger German brands. The most reliable cars are lexus-kia-Toyota-mazda. Lexus recently had an incredible 0, i repeat ZERO problems with any new cars coming out.
That’s fine the person buying this new isn’t buying this new, they’re leasing it. Second owner will go CPO and kick it to the curb right before warranty goes. Third owner will get what seems like a deal but will be screwed and kick it after the first major repair to car max etc. it will sell at auction to a buy here pay here lot and then to someone who should have bought a Corolla, but instead got this to look cool. It will end up sitting slammed on the failed air suspension in the parking lot of some section 8 housing. Kind of depressing.
How long until we see Hoovie with one of these agonising over how to fix the lift up feature after a $40,000 quote from the Wizard.

My s3 has the same wheels as the first s8
Mike Cochrane all S models have the same steering wheels
bruh all Audis have the same turn signals
David Russell it’s actually a really good car, way better then the Mercedes and bmw competitors at that price. And because it’s basically an awd golf GTI with a nicer ride, it’s easily tuned to make 330+ hp
16:38 btw doug 443Nm isnt 600 lbft. its actually 813Nm.
you did the conversion the wrong way around
I think he did it in the reverse
Well that's a lotta Torque
I feel like that secondary "writing screen" would be difficult to use for lefties.
Not in the European market 😂
If it makes you feel better righties get screwed in RHD markets like Australia, China Japan, South Africa, India, UK, etc.
Just move to the UK, if you're left handed.

@Victor Makris Thanks for correcting the spelling.
Audi: Let's make lots of light features so Doug doesn't notice the quirks.
how much tech should u milk in the car so it can all break after the warranty??
AUDI: YESSSSSSSSSSSS
If you buy this car, you can also afford the extended warranty. If you buy it later as used car, you have to calculate that the maintenance costs are linear to the MRSP.
10:06 that finger grease though

gross
I'd fry tons of chips with all that oil
I love how almost everytime he looks up a location is some random part of Nantucket
16:38 if you convert from lb ft into Nm you multiply by roughly 1,36 so it's rather 815 nm.
"This" is my unbiased opinion, Doug. Since I met you, I feel I need to make more comments. That being said, I had a 2016 Audi A8.

Michael Majchrowicz does it really?? How on earth do we live in an age where using correct grammar gets you demonitized because current slang is more focused on??
@@scotty932096 Demonized lol. No it just sounded like something a toddler would say... it's funny. Demonizing would be... Doug makes tens of thousands of dollars a month via TH-cam and if he would have spent a little more time reviewing and a little more time in post production a lot less time tracking an arbitrary "Doug score" and less time building and shrilling a car auction site... he would not have obvious grammar errors in the videos he is highly compensated to make.
That is demonizing and a run on sentence!
Bruh I spent the first 9 minutes thinking “that bulb will be difficult to change out”

I went with the ‘21 Audi A8L 60 TFSI, which is the V8 Twin Turbo. It’s not an S, but identical and slashes $30K from the price. Depends if you want 3.3 vs 4.4 in 0-60.
