- It was dark, cold, and wet. It was drizzling all day, but it actually started raining halfway through this stint. So much for 0% chance of rain.
I was really happy with my rain driving here. I didn't spin at all (except a little baby spin at 21:56 trying to avoid #36). I made a few mistakes, but I think I learned from them.
There were some spots in the back that were so dark, and combined with the fog on my visor I just had to hope someone wasn't lurking in a shadow. I kept opening and closing the visor to balance visibility with not getting hit with rain pellets, or having a rock or something kick up.
I remember hearing a crash behind me after #16 spun out around 4:40, which is I'm assuming what led to the red flag and the guy from #27 laying on the ground at 5:31 (hope he's ok. I didn't see an ambulance, so I assume as much).
I was a bit annoyed that everyone kept moving on the red flag, and I had to fight for some of those positions back, but my teammate and I agreed to be casual up front so I let it go. It wasn't until after we learned that this race has a $1,080 purse 😅. We would have done some things differently.
It was raining by the time I hit some traffic around 15:13, and conditions degrade for the rest of the race. I manage to miss #36 around 21:56, and not quite so the next time he spun at 23:19.
Great time here, hope to be back soon.
I left Stint 1 at the 60fps it was recorded in, and rendered this one in 24fps for comparison. Honestly, I prefer the look of this 24.

I feel like you could carry full throttle into the kink before 1. You do a little throttle reduction which seems early to me, then get back on. It was wet though so maybe necessary. It's been a while but I seem to recall carrying full throttle through there always, wet or dry, then braking.
Yeah I have a few laps where I'm gunning it through there, but the rain kept making it harder. Any time I could gain would be eroded by a single spin, so I played it safe since we were doing so well. And even I was pushing it a little more than most as I caught a lot of people there.
I do think there was more room to push it there though, even with the wet, before it started really raining. Was just playing it safe
@@nikspeeds did you know that 6.2% are searching g for AMSR Blackhead Removal videos according to analytics? Wtf is wrong with us? They should go karting in the rain instead.
@@dominiquecallan148 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 wtf!
Yeah so I just checked the laps and every team lost 3+ seconds/lap in the second half of the race, creeping up to 5+ by the end in the rain.
@@nikspeeds yeah it seemed it got really wet as the night progressed. Hopefully we get dry for the 6hrs
