      And this is a key reason for why I see Day-Lewis as the actor who most follows in the lineage of De Niro. You can add Brando into that group as a key progenitor, but there are issues w/ Brando as a human being for me. He had some serious issues personally that keep me from easily ignoring those, even though De Niro personally was very much inspired by Brando.

    • @Tusc9969
      @Tusc9969 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well said! That wouldn't surprise me since Day-Lewis once said the reason he became an actor was because of De Niro.
      I've heard some things about Brando's personal life but I choose not to go there because quite frankly I really don't care.
      Plus, it would be hypocritical of me since I get annoyed when certain ppl try to somehow discredit and hate on De Niro because of his political views, so i'm not going to do that with any other actor as long as they're not harming anyone.
      My only gripe with Day-Lewis is that he chose to retire so early.

I do appreciate watching him act, but almost All of his characters are variations of the same person. No. Being different in every role first of all it's literally impossible. Not even Gary Oldman,the ultimate chameleon can do it. Being different in some roles has ONLY to do with the character you play. You cannot being different every time,and every actor has his own style. The actors you mentioned are natural actors ( De Niro, Pacino, Nicholson). Day Lewis is a transformational actor, but he can do it all the time. And Tom hardy ? Lol. He's exactly the same in every movie. But that doesn't matter. He is good. Not even close great,and i like him a lot.

The same goes for his performance in Lincoln,in the name of the father, Gangs of New York, phantom thread.
