Here is the story of the Chernin/Barry Family!
Sandra, now a young adult, first noticed symptoms of PANDAS, such as vocal tics, handwriting changes, loss of functioning etc., after having a misdiagnosed case of periorbital strep (strep in the eye) as a child. Several visits to the local children's Hospital ER resulted in many consults to psychiatry instead of neurology. And after experiencing a slew of misdiagnosis at their local children's hospital, it wasn't until they looked outside the hospital, at a local pediatrician that they finally got a diagnosis of PANDAS.
