  • Here is a one video overview of the roof replacement process on this 2004 Minnie Winnie. The water damage was very extensive and although I have seen other re-roofing processes on a Winnebago, I have no idea how those methods would have worked.

Peace. I sought James out after viewing his previous videos. His attention to detail and high level craftsmanship sold me. Alot of "RV roof repair" shops didn't even want to touch this, they wanted to slob on a rubber roof over it, some didn't even return my calls when I mentioned Filon 1 piece. James also fixed other items and did everything perfect. Atomic Jimmy is a cool cat and you can absolutely trust him to work on your RV. Not only have I gained an expert rv tech, I've also gained a friend. As of 10/30/18, 2,000 miles on roof and it looks perfect, I even got compliments on how nice the 15 year old rv looked on a recent trip to Sutter Creek. Lol. Thanks James! Mike in San Diego CA

I don't think I have ever received such high praise in my life. Thank you very much! Long ago I learned not to ask how things were going with a repair....because then I would then find out...lol! I am so happy to hear it is going so well.

Smart decision on owner to have a new roof put on, found all the mistakes from manufacturer missing screws, improper adhesion caused at least 5 year shorter life.

We have a 2004 mini Winnie with a delaminated roof, love your videos but have lots of questions or need help. How can we contact you? We live in Tempe.

I'm going to reseal the edges on my 2012 adventurer. Do you have a part number for the sealant you use.

How do you get the front cap off? Just the 4 screws on the outside?

Thanks for your very informative videos! I have a 2001 Winnebago Minnie Class C 31ft that has no roof issues and the entire RV is in very good condition. The roof on mine looks like a fiberglass cap vs what this RV looks like. Do you know if Winnebago changed the design after 2001? Just wondering what the chances are of my RV having similar issues. Also, if you don't mind me asking, what is a ballpark figure on roof replacement for the RV in the video?

Yes, I believe after 2002 Winnebago changed the roof design to the rounded radius and fiberglass molded front and rear caps. 2002 and earlier should have a sheet filon wrapped front with square corner roof edges under an aluminum molding. That roof design really should never have this problem as, of course, the roof is screwed down at the edge. Winnebago would call the newer design better as the rounded roof radius makes the roof seamless and much less likely to hold water on the roof like the older design. So you should inspect the actual roof and componet seals annually, paying special attention to the front and rear cap seams. I would say on average a new fiberglass roof should run $200-280 a foot. A sprayed on roof should run about the same or a little but more but a very good product assuming the substrate is good and they replace all the vents with new ones, a roll on roof coating is about the same or less but it is also a waste of money. Thanks for watching!

When you remove the ceiling post, will/did the ceiling sag again?
Why don't they build them with more roof joists?
What would be the estimated cost for labor and materials for this job? Edit. I read $200-250 per foot in comments.
    Thanks.

after removing the support it did not sag. It's Winnebago's design, I skipped college mostly.

I got a 1998 Minnie Winnie. And the roof in bed condition, I would replace it. And I am from Seattle and asked a few shops to replace the roof. And they afraid to do it. And I would mind to do it by myself. Would you mind if I will ask some advice? Do you have your contact information I can contact with you?
    Thank you.

Are you sure it is a fiberglass roof, Winnebago had so metal roofs around then too. I have the shop email on the channel page. Thanks!

I am about to be a first-time Class A owner, and I'm going to be at least more forearmed with the information about water intrusion, wood damage, etc. that I've learned from you. Many many thanks and great appreciation. Would you consider starting a Patreon account? If so, I would certainly pay to watch.
