Great video mate. Stunning sunrise shots - there's something wonderfully calming and magic about waking up in first class to a long beautiful sunrise. You're right about those penthouse prices in Adelaide getting out of hand - us locals fondly remember when you could pick one up for $45 before those cashed up East-Coasters flooded the market!

Wow really oldie but goldie! I just filmed japan airlines business class with fujifilm X-T3 also. From my experience the autofocus is the best among mirrorless camera ( i used 10-24 lens).
Really? My Sony A6500 (and 6300 before that) seemed to have a far better working autofocus.
Nice videos. How long do you shoot in 4K before pausing? Have you shot in 4K for More then 30 min at a time?
Hi mate, I think my camera stops when the files reach 2 gb (which is just a few minutes) but it immediately starts recording again.

A great review with the usual dry humour eg.. "really disproportionally exciting for me!" intermixed with descriptions of culinary delights and impressive sunrise cloud colouration over the United States.. It was good to enjoy the trip as a "co-passenger" with you Paul.

Great review. When I flew, the wifi was fast and good enough to do a Facebook live stream from my phone. Did you get a mini airplane model? I was given one as a gift from the flight attendant. I wasn't sure if this was part of the First Class perks or the flight attendants being generous to me.

Great video as usual Paul on a route that's on my To Do list. Japanese airlines always seem to do well with their service, food and champagne. They have updated the First lounge since I was there a few years ago but the food arrangement looked much the same. Agree that the JAL seat looks like it's ready for a refresh. Keep up the good work. Thanks mate. Yep it's not as wide as QF F. In fact, not many are that wide. I recall being blown away by how big the QF seat is. The photos really don't do it justice.
(JALFirstClass) ("Comment") Terrific video. I was suitably impressed that though aging, first class is still first class. The $700 bottle from which the flight attendant served a glass was ultra impressive, despite it running out. After watching quite a few of Paul's videos, I think I prefer the complete privacy option where there are sliding doors and your TV isn't on display for another passenger!

You chose the soft mattress option, but did you compare or ask to feel the hard option?
Nope. Having spent time in Japan and experienced a hard mattress, I'm sure it would have been a plank of wood. Their idea of a hard mattress is nothing like what we would have in the West (I usually sleep with a 'firm' mattress at home).

Hey mate, I just couldn't find much to watch. Maybe I'm fussy, though? Usually I would watch a few 2 or 3 movies on a 12hr flight.
Paul Stewart yup. 2-3 sounds about right. But I guess with the amount you travel, you’d run out of new content to watch!
JALFirstClass - The flight seems very comfortable! The amenity kit is cute but if you just showed this, I would have thought it came from Indonesia/Garuda Airline or something. Thankfully they start doing the direct flight from Perth to Tokyo which is very convenient for the rest of the country.
Yep is certainly a nice way to fly :)

Just curious why you chose the Fujifilm xt3. Trying to decide on a camera for TH-cam. (JALFirstClass)
Hi mate, cheapest way to get 4K 60fps. My last camera, Sony A6500 which I've now realised had an ammmaaaazzziiinnnggg autofocus could record at 4K, but only 30fps. I find that 30fps is too jerk and really wanted 60fps. The xt3 has a few good things, but if the next Sony A6...something is 4k/60fps, I'll jump back to Sony. I've had huge problems with the Fujifilms autofocus and now use manual focus a lot of the time :(

I spent days researching new cameras! Having had issues with the autofocus at the avalon airshow, I'd love to return to Sony.

A great video Paul. My first o/seas flight was AKL to SYD to SIN by DC6 & Lockheed Constellation when I was 10years old. In those days seats only but first class food & service. TEAL & BOAC, those were the days.(JALFirstClass)

@@PaulStewartAviation Yes it was in 1955, we had an engine problem & had to land in Jakarta for repairs. No flash terminal only a palm thatched building, no aircon & a couple of lazy fans trying to circulate the air. The best bit was the jeeps outside mounting .50 caliber machine guns. I was told not to go out but as a kid hoe could one ignore the urge to explore, came inside very quick.
