ANA B777 First Class Tokyo to London + New Pokémon Eevee Jet

- I was invited to the Pokemon Eevee Jet unveil event in Tokyo with a newly painted ANA B777-300/ER featuring Pokemon character Pikachu and Eevee. I was supposedly to fly from Tokyo to London in ANA First Class “The Suite” on the Eevee Jet the next day…
ANA flight from Tokyo Haneda to London use the new Terminal 2 International facility. I visited the new ANA Suite Lounge, it was quiet and spacious but I found it lacked privacy. At the gate, there was some disappointing news, the new Eevee Jet went tech and was substituted by a B777 in ANA regular livery. Nevertheless, passengers still received the Pokemon souvenir during boarding.
The ANA First Class Suite was impressively wide and came with all the usual First Class amenities such as comfort kit, pajamas and even a cardigan on loan to passengers. Flight time to London was over 14 hours with unusual routing flying North via the Bering Sea, Alaska, Arctic Circle, and Greenland. This is to bypass the Russian airspace due to current restrictions.
After takeoff, I went to check out ANA Economy and Premium Economy product offerings. The Japanese airline offers better meals and legroom in Economy. Back to First Class, I enjoyed a five-course dining and went behind the scenes on how the crew prepares Japanese Washoku meal onboard. We flew past some incredible sceneries over the Arctic and Greenland on the way to London. Before landing, I gave my thoughts on the ANA First Class product.

I flew with a premium economy from cgk-hnd and vice versa. It was great, with a fantastic crew and lounge. It is one of my absolute favourite airlines and my favourite cabin crew.

They're courteous, I notice their devotion to service and take their job seriously. +1 for the ANA passengers.
I remember, about 40 years ago, you could not fly such a long distance on a two engine jet. The technology wasn’t there. In fact, a lot of times you had to have a stop over. It’s amazing that, nowadays, you can fly 15+ hours nonstop on a two engine jet such as the 777. Talk about advancement in aviation.
The 777-200 long range in the early 2000s permitted the NY to HK direct route.
Yep probably one of the best advancement in recent years.. The new generation of twin jets setup consumes much lesser fuel too, so it translates to a lot more savings for the airlines.
It was called ETOPS: an acronym for Extended-range Twin-engine Operations Performance Standards (AKA Engines Turn Or Passengers Swim)-a special part of flight rules for one-engine-inoperative flight conditions. Basically, it was "how far can this plane fly on one engine". ETOPS 180 means it can fly 180 minutes with a single engine (first allowed with the B777), means pretty much anywhere except across parts of the Pacific.

I have done contract work for ANA for many years. The employees are polite , respectful and very professional. ANA is the epitome of customer service and attention to details. Along with JAL they are among the best of the Asian airlines. ✈️

Sorry to bring the disappointment. The Poekmon livery actually flew to London the next day, landed on 27L

Treated myself to ANA business class on mid-haul once. It was absolutely fantastic! You can't really go wrong with ANA.
Well Sam, 3 years ago when you flow this same route on the same airline you flown on the business class "the room", and at the end you said Next time you Will be flying first class "the suite". I think you were right...

ANA is my favorite airline, flown them a bunch of times in business class, want to try first class. Thanks Sam for showcasing my favorite airline. There are 2 ANA Dreamliners at PAE hopefully deliver soon.

Another terrific video Sam. ANA is a great airline, I wish they flew to Montreal ! Wow that food looked good and the cabin crew is so friendly. Too bad you didn't get to fly on the new Pokemon 777 ; it looks cool ! Maybe try again; first class is nice on a 14 hour flight but I read and sleep in economy plus so I probably would not pay for the extra.

I love flying ANA - usually in business class (The Room, lately), but I am still nostalgic for the ANA luxury of 15-20 years ago (my wife and I flew ANA First Class NY to Bangkok with a stopover in Tokyo for our first honeymoon trip).
That world class luxury (13 set menus to choose from, and a wine cellar worth a couple of Michelin stars on its own) has unfortunately been dialed down somewhat (on all counts).
I still rank ANA Business class products as my favorite and top 3-4 (with Air China, Etihad and Emirates) in the world (yes, Air China is outstanding, even though no one talks about them), but I do miss the old super luxurious First Class product and service. Oh well...

ANA my favorite airline. I flown them many times. I love their business class “the room”. Just booked today roundtrip to SFO from Manila for October. Taking wife and daughter back to US. I booked business class because of them large seats, so my wife and daughter can sleep laying down.

I have used ANA thrice and l believe the cabins are truly clean and everything is done efficiently. I agree with you on ANA doesn’t have the over the top stuff. One thing though generally ANA is a little pricey compared to most of the major airlines

I flew on the Pikachu jet today, Business Class from Tokyo to New Delhi. They gave us a Pokémon boarding pass and a wooden tag with Pikachu wearing a captains hat. It was really cool. And ANA has amazing service.

Hi Sam. Finnair flew non stop flights from Helsinki to Tokyo during the cold war. Dc-10 with extra fuel tanks. It was only airline who do that that time.
When I flew to Tokyo in 1975 first stop was Anchorage in Alaska, then on to Tokyo. The time difference was a strange to me, at 21 years of age it was my first long distance flight, I was joining a ship in Moji. We left London at 1600hrs arrived in Anchorage at 14hrs, then shortly after leaving Anchorage we crossed the date line.
