I don't think it's necessarily that he's "bad", just that there are better options. The chaingun is actually much slower and less effective at kills than the AWARD rifle with much less range, not to mention the spool-up and overheat, and he doesn't have the crowd-control and anti-vehicle utility of the thermal detonators. And recon droids just stink all-around. He's worse at offense than the default assault class, worse at team support than engineer. (A one-use slight damage reduction which you can just get for free from green bacta tanks, or the ability to poop out heals and ammo at will?)
@@MrOwl-lw3xc If you manage to get the upgraded versions of their base weapons, the Pilot will suddenly become WAY better than the Marine. The Marine's upgraded rifle is a burst weapon that doesn't do much more than the base rifle. But the Pilot's upgraded pistol becomes a two-shot machine that'll annihilate anything. Requires a lot of time to get it, but, once you've got it, you're unstoppable.
Clone Commanders are scary to take on if they are in a group of other clones. Headshot or no headshot, those chain guns are instant and can potshot someone trying to fall back to heal or chip away health between cover to make them either stay in cover or be mobile.
@@ledanoir1239did they nerf the clone commander because in the OG 05 version, his chaingun was way more powerful. I still play the OG version and the commander can wipe out like 5 droids before it over heats
Preicison pistol instantly fixes their weaknesses, become a mini Jango fett just without the jetpack and bonus health. Time bombs take out internal systems much faster than Marines cause they do MAD damage. 3 time bombs takes out every support system except the shield Generator which needs an additional one, give a pilot one minute inside an enemy ship and you can easily have all the interior objectives cleared, which only becomes quicker and easier with multiple pilots boarding in a gunship class ship and working together: in *THAT* situation more like 15 seconds
It was even more fucked in the first game, where the Droidekas had stronger shields (could eat like 6 grenades, compared to BF2's 2 or 3) and they weren't even a special class, so you'd run into like 5-6 of them at a time.
@@fearlesswee5036 you know in a game that basically acts as a power fantasy when the player (me) goes out of his way to not even bother trying to kill droidekas especially in 1 lol; it’s just a time sink that has little gain.
Honestly it isnt *that much* better as a faction, but has plenty of variables: 1) Definetly the best Assault class out of the 4, infinite ammo tri shot, wrist rockets are generally good (not sure if better than TD but relatively equal) and a generally more accurate blaster it seems 2) Every other default unit is the exact same across the board outside of cosmetics 3) Magna Guard has Recon Droid (L ability), a pretty slow and as such inaccurate primary that can do some good damage: but low ammo. Radiation launcher is good but not always great to use particularly good against tanks and hold tight corridors. Poison is an ok ability that is not as good as you might think but can do some extra damage at the risk of dying *very quick* getting in range to use it especially on a bunch of units at once. Overal a strange unit 4) Droidekas are by far more powerful in the hands of the AI when they can spam them at the start of the match especially. They are balanced by having easily exploitable animations and being slow on its feet and turning speed but fast when its most vulnerable in its ball form. The Droideka is deceptively great, you will not take over a whole platoons worth of units with it; its blaster isnt accurate but can do a good amount of damage with spam, weak to explosives which you will be spammed with once the shield comes out. More of a pressure unit and a mobile controlled sentry gun than a truely great unit, many times as a droideka you *will* die either by overestimating the shield durability or mid animation
@@xvoidxhunter2129So with the droideka, its blaster actually has pinpoint accuracy. It may feel inaccurate though as the bolts do come out of the model’s blaster barrels and so will oftentimes hit your own cover if you’re not aiming carefully. That said, your pretty on point with most of the rest of what you said about it. The Droideka is best used as a sentry gun that can walk behind walls and cover to recharge its shields, and unless you’ve been cornered and your shield is about to fail, should never be in ball form while in combat. Personally I’ve always had the best luck with it in multiplayer on maps with long kill corridors and fields like Mygeeto, firing at enemies from its deceptively long range, and then backing off behind a wall to recharge my shields once it start getting low.
Engineer is the uncontested best units in the game at a base level. -Very Powerful in close quarters -Can constantly heal themselves with Health and Ammo Resupplies -Can splice into vehicles (Which on Polis Massa as Droids is OP) -Is the only base unit that can repair Medical and Ammunition Droids which = more health and ammo resupply packs which makes the Engineer the most survivable unit in the game that isnt a Hero.
I don't care for the engineer, almost never use it, but I have to agree, absolutely the best class. In galactic conquest I only unlock heavy (My main) and engineer for those health and ammo drops. I feel like unlocking more classes just means I have less engineers overall, but I haven't tested that or anything so I don't know if that's a legit strat or not.
nothing in BF makes me happier than *me, in the heat of battle, struggling to survive* allied AI engineer: yo, take this hp and ammo shoutout to whoever coded the engineer's AI to be the chaddest AI in the game
The only thing that would make the Engineer more Op than he already is if we replaced the Detpacks with the Mines from the Heavy class and gave him the Precision Pistol
I find the marines are better for boarding as they can take on groups of enemies better as they’re gonna be respawning near quickly and constantly, basic pistol won’t cut it unless ur using the award pistol which makes every class the best lol
The trooper primary rifles vary per faction, the secondaries are the same (excluding super battle droid). On a scale of 1 to 3, with one being the worst; the guns vary on speed, damage and accuracy. Sp Dm Ac Droids 1 3 2 Clones 2 2 2 Rebels 2 1 3 Imp 3 3 1 Personally I like the storm trooper, and you need to use them like so. Run up to the enemy and shoot, they work well with the damage boost. If you need to shoot from range short control burst.
I agree, the Stormtrooper is a lot of fun to play as, and the spread isn't really that bad if you know what you're doing. I mean, the spread, besides gameplay reasons, is also canon. Not because Stormtroopers have bad aim (this has been refuted numerous times), but because the E-11 itself has horrible accuracy, and the longer one shoots it, the higher the spread. Even in Jedi Outcast\ Jedi Academy, if you shoot an E-11, the first blast will always go a bit off-centre.
That's crazy, I always thought the rebels had the best rifle, just on accuracy alone helped me shoot from behind my teammates but to each their own, and for the Cis I hated their infantry unit idk why but their slowness made them weak, and since they have the wrist rockets they are more likely to miss, while the clones just spam thermal grenades in choke points and take out a couple of cis infantry! Imo thermals are better than wrist rockets based on splash damage alone also wrist rockets travel in a straight line toward and never hit the ground so one just had to move to the left or right and the speed is a bit slow compared to a rifles bolt
Best weapon in the game is the award pistol, so every pistol wielding character can become really OP on offense. And that's also why I'd usually play the Heavy class since rockets and mines gave me a way to also destroy tanks while the pistol could handle infantry. Not to mention the Heavies having extra health. I do agree with the list mostly if award weapons aren't being factored in, though.
Yeah, with award weapons heavy is absolutely broken. That pistol SLAPS. Super accurate at any range, high rate of fire with good damage. But the guided rockets? Those are busted. Sit by an ammo droid with some cover and decimate anything that even thinks about coming at you. Also, dropping a mine in front of a moving tank and rolling away is such a badass move.
Engineers in multiplayer barrel rolling and one-shotting is so annoying. If you don’t kill them immediately they just healthpack themselves back to full health
I 100% disagree with your position on Marine vs Pilot. Marines are way more useful. Way better gun and you have two explosives instead of just the time bombs
I had to shut off the video when he ranked marine worse than pilot, and then had the audacity to rank standard infantry so low when they are the bread and butter of BF2
@@noxcurebread and butter for the normies maybe. The engineer and heavy class are way more useful, mines one shot every ground vehicle in the game and can hold choke points. The engineer has his fusion cutter and ammo/health resupply, both way more versatile than standard infantry. The only thing the infantry class has going for it is its 4 thermal detonators and the elite rifle.
@@TheHipsterGamer You can clear maps better with the engineer, stealing vehicles or using your class ones. Repairing them after a bit with the fusion cutter and utilizing the shotgun up close. You can even heal yourself with the health and gain along with the amo drop
@@brudbrud9137Pretty good, based on my experiences of playing Kamino. When you’re on a sniper-heavy map you’ll oftentimes find them tunnel-visioned on your ally snipers.
The recon droids can be very effective weapons if you know how to use them right. They may have a weak gun, but if you press the secondary attack, the droid stops for a few seconds and self-destructs and the explosion can kill a lot of enemies. It also helps that it's small and can be deployed stealthily, but it can be spotted and shot down if you're not careful.
Haven't played a ton of multiplayer, so idk how well classes do there, but here's some thoughts based on single player: 1) The precision pistol (award pistol) is the best weapon in the game by far. Easily the best generalist weapon, and functions as an equally viable alternative to most other weapons at their niche. It excels in fire rate, and damage, giving it very strong time to kill, and it's high accuracy, range, and projectile speed, combined with a scope allow it to retain it's spot in the top tier of weapons at any range. 2) For the standard troopers' blasters, fire rate and accuracy are inversely correlated. Republic and Rebels are at the midpoint, while the CIS fire slower but more accurately, and the Empire fires faster but with a higher bullet spread. Generally close quarters favors fire rate while longer range favors accuracy. IMO CIS has the worst standard trooper since they're the only ones without access to the precision pistol. I generally prefer fire rate over accuracy on blasters since if you just kill them before your shots get erratic the accuracy doesn't matter, but there are absolutely situations where the accuracy is more important. Wrist rockets are very strong in certain situations but I personally value the thermal detonator as they give you the ability to attack without having a line of sight if you can throw over an object, wrist rockets require the same line of sight as blasters and thus lack utility. It's also worth mentioning that the Rebels have the most starting ammo and the Republic has the least. 3) Heavies are probably the best class in the game. Their higher health than other pistol classes make them the best users of the best weapon in the game. The extra health is offset by slower movement speed, but most players value the health more. They also have access to launchers, which cover up the pistol's biggest weakness: vehicles. You can also do things like firing rockets at infantry and using your pistol to finish off survivors, which can help you get to gunslinger to unlock the precision pistol. Lastly they're quite strong against heroes (though the steam version has a bug where they AI never uses heroes so this has limited single player value). Best user of the best weapon + best at dealing with that weapon's weakness + best at obtaining that weapon + effective vs heroes gives them an extremely strong argument for best class in the game. I personally use the standard trooper with the pistol bc the slow movement speed bothers me, but I don't deny that heavies are better. 4) Beam rifle (award rifle) is outclassed by the standard sniper rifle. Once you get the War Hero damage boost, the standard sniper one-shots all units with standard health or less with any hit, head or body, and has 2 zoom options. The beam rifle does variable damage based on how long your beam was hitting your target, meaning it doesn't always one-shot, and it only has 1 zoom option. I wish I could disable the Marksman award so that I could aim for the head and switch back and forth between the sniper and pistol without losing my better sniper.
Sniper should be ranked higher since for open maps you can lock down an entire area or pick off enemies trying to capture your outposts. It’s also the safest, fastest way to rack up points quickly for hero unlock
Gotta agree with marine. On paper it would be good, the problem is that AI never flies into your hangar, so AI Marines only see hangar combat when you fly a troop transport into one.
The Clone Commander is the ultimate Anti-Jedi Class. In the Order 66 mission he is basically the instant win button. The Jedi can only block his shots for a couple of seconds before they run out of stamina an get absolutely shredded.
The reason why Stormtrooper’s feel as if the bloom/spread kicks in so fast is because of the E11’s fire rate being faster than the Clone’s DC15 or the Rebels A280. As far as I’m aware, the bloom kicks in at the same shot as all the other troopers’ primaries, so you can get more shots on target without having to move your aim as much
When I was a kid, I also thought the Clone Commander was the worst class in the game. But that was just because I never learned you had to hold down the fire button to rev up the chaingun before it'd start firing. I always just assumed the game was bugged and this guy's primary gun didn't work, or that it only worked in very specific instances that I wasn't aware of. Whenever I played him, I just walked around with the pistol.
Something I always hated about Battlefront is how you couldn't customize your troops. So the coolest looking classes were stuck with lame weapons. Like the Heavy Trooper or the Commander.
Recon droids aren't actually a terrible strategy if you can find a secure and secluded ammo droid which you can launch them from repeatedly. While not always successful, if you can successfully detonate on a crowded room, you clear the whole room out instantly, potentially swinging the momentum of the engagement and the battle at large (especially if you manage to clear a Command Post room). Rushing and shooting enemies with the recon droid's lasers is also a great way to actively pressure enemies at little to no personal risk, such as harrassing enemies attempting to take out your flag-bearers in CTF.
The Bothan Spy I probably used a total of like 5 times in all my hours of play with BF2, lmao I swear the invisibility just does, not, work. Also I am not a huge fan of the Wookie warriors because while you can take quite a bit of punishment, in my experience, you're still just a bit too slow to avoid being worn down by eagle eyed enemies while trying to run between points of cover.
I would actually place sniper at rank 1, and Engineer at rank 2. The sniper deals enough damage with their rifle that they two shot most units, one shot lower health units like fellow snipers and anyone with a jump pack, and are extremely accurate. It can take a little while to get used to playing without a reticle, but you can quickly swap between the pistol and sniper to get one, or just get a feel for where you're aiming on screen. I'd say dark trooper should also be higher on the list. The arc caster has a nice little stun effect, and you can instantly fire it again with a jump or roll. Its jump pack also lets you move in and out of combat with ease, and has the greatest amount of mobility of any class in the game. Find yourself far from the front-lines? You can get there almost instantly. Getting overwhelmed? Retreat, and move to a better position. Its like the TF2 Scout, you get to pick and choose your battles..
Idk why but I disagree with the Dark Trooper. He's my favorite class but my 1 gripe with BF2 (I owned both classic games as a kid for the PS2) has always been that they changed his weapon from a shotgun to that shock weapon. I remember as a kid I was so disheartened lol when I got BF2 after already owning BF1. I just really really dislike his shock weapon, even if it's really good. I hate having to charge it.
Is there a good way to use the Bothan Spy? Because they always felt gimmicky to me. You turn invisible for a bit, get close, kill maybe 1 guy with one burst from your Flamer weapon before having to reload then get killed in the return fire because Bothans have less health than other classes. In a game where you have to fight hordes of enemies it isn’t that useful. It’s just like the Darktrooper except the Dark trooper is more mobile and its gun is way more versatile while the trooper has more health. I feel like you’re better off just using Engineers, you get det packs and the ammo and health upgrades. I never got the hype behind the Wookie Warrior. The Bowcaster is a pretty awkward weapon, and grenade launchers can be meh since I feel like they’re just more thermal detonators. The health boost is great until you realize he has slower walking and sprinting speeds. I definitely disagree with the Clone Commander. The core issue in Battlefront is that most of your enemies are infantry, vehicles are there but most units have a way of dealing with them. For this reason I tend to dislike the Jet Trooper, the EMP launcher is only good when enemies are bunched up, not so common in a lot of the maps with wide open fields, and even then it can’t keep up with the number of enemies. The Chaingun can. Lastly I think that Thermal Detonators >>>>> Wrist Rockets. Sure wrist rockets go off instantly, but they do less damage and have a smaller explosion. Thermal Detonators are great against vehicles and they are great at area denial, as well as detonating any enemy mines. They are good against everything in the game and level the playing field with the trooper class.
Try using the grenade launcher differently. Use the top of the reticle to aim in close range and don't charge it. It'll explode on impact if you just tap the fire button once. Game changer.
I remember as a kid thinking the clone commander had a broken gun and didn’t realize til a few years later you have to hold down the trigger for the chain gun to start firing
The gameplay footage genuinely made me lose braincells, how many hours do you have at the game? Marine and Droideka are ranked awfuly and the gameplay shows that you don't utilise them as they are intended 5:55
My favourite class usually tends to be infantry, I find it to be the most balanced of all the classes, not having any major strengths but not many major weaknesses eitehr
It took some getting used to but the Bothan Spy is amazing to play in multiplayer once you get a true understanding of the invisibility mechanics and the type of play style needed to excel with it
I think the worst offense of marines is the fact that ships they fly don't passively heal the same way they do when pilots fly them, which makes ships flown by marines inherently more prone to being shot down, making them an active detriment to your team, especially in assault modes. Aside from being better at infantry combat with an actual rifle and throwable grenades, they're useless, and that is only ever relevant when you land transports in the enemy flagship for boarding parties.
Commanders have always been one of my favorite classes, mainly because they were always a little 'different' from the others classes. If you unlock the award pistol with the Commander Clone, it can be a beast on the offensive. But still useless against a veichle. Imperial commander is so strange with that sonic pistol, but it won’t be unique as well without it. Wookie/Magna Guard are my favorites: The first is a walking tank. The second, is so strange with his weapons and abilities, that is impossible to not feel “Elite”
i think youre underrating a lot of the classes at the bottom clone commanders reduc buff is huge, probably the best buff in the game other than leias full invuln. the officers rage buff is also extremely useful and the sonic blaster can shred with headshots especially on retreating enemies. i think both are better than the droidekas on the pc/collection versions the marine is way more useful than the pilot for boarding because theres 32 enemy bots which makes it near impossible to get to the internal systems as a pilot without guardian and gunslinger the sniper is better than the super battle droid and maybe even the magnaguard, they have the fastest run speed in the game which is good for both horizontal movement and ramping on maps like mos eisley for vertical movement and if you use the pistol to line up shots they have the fastest ttk of any class the dark trooper and wookiee are probably better than the engineer, theyre genuinely broken in terms of single target elimination and have similar survivability to the engineer
I'm sorry but you don't really know the game, darky is the best, 2nd wookie, both destroyes every engi when someone knows how to use them, 3rd maybe engi/sniper depending on the playstyle (sniper bigger maps, engi smaller maps), 4th jet (on small and closed maps he may be better than engis/snipers and sniper is a good counter against him), 5th could be magna/officer and rest doesn't really matter, definitely bothan shouldn't be that high as he's very easy to be killed and noticed
I love your rank lists! Only thing about the Clone Commander is that he's amazing with the rage buff. But I agree that without the damage buff, the chaingun isn't that good.
I remember working out that I could use the health and ammo packs on myself as an engineer and I could restock them at an ammunition droid. If the ammunition droid got destroyed, I could just repair it again. I felt like I'd broken the game by finding the secret weapon.
Nothing like running from one hangar to another on Polis Massa and capping the opposite command post to box in and flank the enemy using your Health/Ammo Dispenser as an Engineer/Smuggler.
I love how You basically said that the spy is incredibly difficult to use, and also that the stormtrooper really isn't that great. Because usually when I manage to kill that one person who's on their massive killstreak with a hero class, it's with the bonthan spy. Then usually when I go on a streak that's 30 to 60 kills long, it's usually with just a regular ass stormtrooper.
counter point on the marines. you can stall most of the enemy pilots from leaving or you can rush down a core component and blow it up.. the engines you have to aim for the metal part and you have just enough to kill it. Sure the pistol can do the job aswell but like. If you are boarding a ship and have 5 droids trying to kill you, you dont have the time to kill a single droid and run out of heat on the 2nd
Overall a pretty good list! The only spot where I disagree is the Commander Clone and Bothan Spy, I would swap their places. - The incinerator is only good at short range and you can't stop shooting it, so, once it runs out, you are going to die while reloading it 90% of the time since it doesn't has a secondary gun unlike the commander that has the pistol. -The time bombs it has are not very good for taking out enemies unless they are really really dumb or attach it to a vehicle.
For the marine aim with the bazooka in the middle of the green part and it takes 3 or 4 hits. Still pilot is better but there have been times where I had to use marine since there were to many enemies spawning there. I don't anymore ever since I got the 64 medals for gunslinger
"Clone commander is not a bad class, but he is the worst class in battlefront 2" Umm..... Wtf does even mean my guy? How can you be the worst, but somehow not bad? That's what worst means! It's badder than bad it's the worst....I don't even disagree, I think the clone commander is one of the worst, but I'm so confused...😂
Dawg the marine is worlds better than the pilot. Marine is meant to be in the enemy’s hangar, so he’s got the best kit for surviving out there with an actual blaster rifle and grenades
Plus when it comes to repelling boarders in multiplayer you should accept no substitutes. A single missile will obliterate any interceptors or fighters trying to get in, with them always forgetting the missile has lock-on capabilities for some reason.
About that Imperial Officer, i believe the Sonic Pistol is a splash weapon with high projectile speed and damages vehicles as well. Mortar Launcher is great with 25 total shots compare to SWBF1 pilot class.
Assault class is definitely #1 for its ability to take out heroes and Marines should definitely be last for being a terrible idea to pick in a space battle
considering how many people i see in online MP using engineer i'd be inclined to agree that it is the meta to play engineer the shotgun does decent damage up to a decent range and people dodge roll all the time in mp so having a weapon with spread helps the detpack as you said can be used to take out heros and vehicles you can repair vehicles and heal yourself as an engineer. on the other hand though i'd argue the stormtrooper's rapid fire E-11 gives it advantage in close quarters maps over the other soldier classes and rewards a more agrressive playstyle
@@brudbrud9137 honestly feels like you're supposed to buff allies and provide support for their roles instead of directly acting as an individual unit with commander classes
Clone commamder is good. When your chaingun kverheats, switch to pistol and don't care about it overheating because you can switch back to chaingun which will cool down by that time.
Wow i have the same thing with the clone commander where as a kid I thought they so powerful and now not so much. Reminds me of fighting games where kids always think the worst characters are broken lol
Typically it goes like Character with on obviously quite high, simple parameter, that is severely overbalanced around. A kid sees the simple, good part, while not really seeing everything else going wrong to make it work. The Bowser theorem. Bowser is the strongest and the most extreme statline in most games, but that extreme quality extends to how low most of his other stats are, too. Speed, or acceleration in Mario Kart, and so on.
In my opinion the Jet Trooper is a lot better than the Dark Trooper. While jest the Dark Trooper's jetpack is faster, you can only jump instead of fly. And the cool down seems a bit longer than the Jet Trooper's. And I would have to agree thatvthe best class in the engineer. Maybe it's because of bias, but I love using shotguns in games. They can also repair droids, turrets, and vehicle's. They can also support troops with health and ammo canisters.
if you can master triple shocking and surprising enemies by jetting onto them, then dark trooper is 1000% better. plus with the jet trooper, he goes way too slow = being a much easier target. honestly darkie is all around the best class
Darktooper is awesome for PVP- you can charge up your arc caster, then jump at your opponent from distance, then unload your arc into him for a 1 hit kill. It’s the only way I could defeat my brother in single combat.
Jet trooper's flying is really slow though making him an easy target with low health. He's definitely a good unit cus his strengths balance well and if you know how to use him properly, it's a great class. But Dark Trooper is literally the most OP class in the game if you know how he works. Play online and you will get utterly destroyed by good Dark Trooper players whenever you're playing as the rebels.
IMO officer should be higher, All grenade launchers classes are straight up better classes, especially if you use your dodge roll or jump to reset the fire cooldowns, it also works for the jet and dark troopers weapons. Same thing can be applied to heroes with saber throw to…. Duplicate your lightsaber The technician detpack can be thrown much further like a grenade if you hold it and release it while moving your camera up and going forward
Destroying a vital ship point from the inside with a marine is WAY faster than destroying it from the outside with a pilot though. The Marine is arguably more valuable, because in a team game, one pilot flying a transport ship full of marines into the enemy's hangar is devastating. It's basically the end of the game if the enemy can't stop those boarders, so I'm guessing you haven't played too much multiplayer.
The Commander class across all factions is kinda weird. Weird weapon selection, weird abilities, weird unit choices (this is mostly aesthetic). Let's review: *The Republic* : actually a member of 21st Nova Corps of the 4th Sector Army, more colloquially known as a Galactic Marines. Yes, it's an elite unit, but this means nothing in terms of SWBF2. He's armed with an overheating shoulder-mounted Gatling gun that has infinite ammo and apparently shoots bullets (how does that even work?), a simple blaster pistol, a (pretty much useless) recon bot, and can also deploy a shield and\ or damage reduction buff for friendly units, known as Rally. Interestingly enough, actual Clone Commanders exist as a unit in-universe. In the days of Phase 1 armour they were distinguished by yellow markings, and you'd think they'd be present in the only map that uses Phase 1 armour - Geonosis - but no, the Commander class doesn't even exist for that map! *The CIS* : the droid equivalent of the Clone Commander is the MagnaGuard. Part of the IG-88 line, the IG-100 MagnaGuard model is known to have advanced mechanical anatomy and adaptive programming, allowing it to overcome various types of foes and excel at a variety of tasks. General Grievous - the general of the CIS armies - used them as personal bodyguards. By all accounts, the MagnaGuard is an elite unit. However, again, as far as SWBF2 is concerned, this doesn't mean anything. The MagnaGuards are armed with a compact rocket launcher, a grenade launcher that hurls radioactive grenades, a recon bot, and it's also outfitted with a toxic gas canister (acting as an attack aura that slowly kills enemy units) that doesn't even make sense in-universe, because clone armour is supposed to be hermetically sealed, making them immune to toxic gasses and vacuum. *The Empire* : the Empire's commander class is an Imperial Officer, armoured for field combat. This makes sense, as a commander _is_ an officer. The officer is armed with a (largely useless) sonic pistol, a grenade launcher, a recon droid, and also has a Rage ability that buffs up friendly units' damage output. *The Rebel Alliance* : the rebels' equivalent is either the Wookiee Warrior or the Bothan Spy, as it's not even clear. The Wookiee is armed with a Wookiee bowcaster, a grenade launcher, a handful of regular grenades, and a recon bot. The Bothan Spy is armed with a flamethrower and timed bombs; they can become invisible, and have the Regeneration buff that slowly regenerates the health of nearby friendly units. So yeah, a very random selection. The Commander class is supposed to be a support class, yet it acts as more of an assault class with support capabilities. In other games, dedicated Commander classes usually call in reinforcements or special "bombing" attacks on enemy positions, but in SWBF2 it's just weird.
Assuming you mean in a general sense (and not against soley AI, which I assume not as you mention the assault class taking out heroes). Also assuming reward weapons are disabled because reward pistol is stupidly OP. Clone Commanders are not meant to be 1 man armies. I'll agree that their chain gun is pretty lackluster, but their power comes in the form of Rally to bolster a squad, reducing damage by about half. We both agree Marines are bottom tier, but they're meant to kill pilots and destroy fighters + hybrid ships before take off. They're not meant to destroy critical systems like a pilot can. Imp officers should rank much higher. While their sonic blaster is trash, their Rage lets snipers body shot (kill) anything below a heavy unit. It straight up counters Health Regen from their counterpart (Bothan Spy). Dark Troopers also benefit from this as they now one shot anything below a heavy, and the heavies they can finish up quickly with one or two pistol shots. Arguably the strongest officer class. Droidekas were never meant to push the front lines, simply because they're too slow and too clunky, therefore too easy to target. They're potent, but they're not vehicles. Don't assign them vehicle tasks. Think of them more like turrets. Bothan Spies are the most fragile unit on the battlefield and their entire kit revolves around a team boosting ability (which requires them to be seen with the rest of their team) or short range weaponry, relying on invisibility to close the distance. Great in theory, but in practice it's awful. Their gun takes a whole mag to kill most targets and has a reload speed on par with a rocket launcher. The range is short enough that it can often be rolled away from. Imperial Engineers, Officers, and Dark Troopers all possess stronger close range weaponry, with better armor, and usually with friends who will call you out if seen. Invisibility often stops working before even entering Incinerator range and doesn't work at all vs bots. Health Regen barely matters to anyone that isn't a Wookie and is not an answer to the Imperial Rage. Hell, it's not an answer to base damage numbers. Time Bombs are barely more useful than rocket launchers, while being infinitely more risky to use. Worst class in the game, by far. Magna Guards are my favorite, but the Bulldog is only useful for insanely narrow corridors (like Polis Massa) and against slow vehicles/turrets. Neurotoxin is great at shredding heroes, but often is just a martyrdom grenade that only sometimes works since Rally/Med droids/Engineers/Health drops will stop this from securing a kill
The fact that marines are the best class of the game it annoys a lot of people, the dark trooper in the first game was better, the rocket launcher troops are the best in case of non self-damage match (mines kill everything, you can clean a hall by only walking and right-clicking). Droidekas in this games are one the worst troops, the snipers got a big nerf by removing their droid that calls and orbit strike. The jet-trooper would got a big nerf if they didn't nerf the droidekas like that. Magnaguards are ok, with the radiation launcher are probably the best for killing heroes.
I would put all the troopers higher because they have the 2nd highest hp and thats worth more with solid ranged damage. Once ypu unlock the upgraded weapons the pistol is great for sniping and close range burst damage from its firerate, and the burst rifle is very accurate. I'd put the sniper on bottom because the auto turrent is really bad, the upgraded rifle is a direct downgrade from the starting one, and the class is very fragile. For me on all sides its best to worst trooper>engie>heavy>sniper For the extra classes the jumpers, wookiee, and both droid options are good. The others not as much with the best bad one being the commander because his infinite ammo straying is at least useful supportively and a defense buff is alright. But hes there to throw out supportive fire and gets the stronger base pistol as well so hes decently rounded.
Marines are better for boarding enemy ships, pilots are better for flying of course. I dont think they can be compared on the same level since their purpose is so different
I think you have to get better at half of these classes, as you have a very clear preference for close quarters combat. The grenade launcher is pretty mid on open maps, the jet and dark troopers are glass cannons, and the engineer has almost no range until you get the award shotgun. The sonic blaster is decent once you get used to it, the rebel soldier is the one with the most accurate blaster rifle, and the clone commando has the best blaster pistol in game behind the award pistol.
my brother in christ, for detpacks you have to run, hold the button to throw it and look down and up to throw it further, not just up. good video anyways 👍
I know, I may be making excuses but I can't get controls working on PC before classic collection came out so that's why it looks a bit rough lol I tried to get used to it but it's completely fucked for me lol
Sadly on online everyone spams the heavy class but me, I have class I kill em all with the engineer class, especially since im an engineer in real life too 😂
To actually rank those classes you need experience in this game to know what you are talking about and by watching it my eyes bleed. You do not know how to reset weapons cooldown or basic mechanics like throwing a detpack. Next time do some research before doing such video.
Award weapons should be a factor. Id put rebel soldier, and super battldroids 2 and 3 because the award blaster is op. 3 shot burst guaranteed kill. The rebel blaster rifle is slower but it does slightly more damage then the stormtroopers rifle. But the super battledroids are the superior soldier class. The beam rifle is just 💩. The flachette shotgun is almost the same as the regular shotgun except it can take down wampas, Ackleys, and wookies pretty quickly. And the remote rocket is fun to play around with. I agree though, engineers are king.
That's what I'm trying to figure out right now. I heard the switch version has the least problems so I'm considering getting it despite the fact it might not work well.
This list is one giant hot take lmao. Space marine is a must if you're going to be boarding ememys ship which you probably are. Marksman or the rocket classes are easily the worst classes in the game. Maybe the marksman would be good for online but in SP the enemy's movement is so weird it's easier just to get close. Only thing I agreed with it the super battle driod and engineer classes. I'd take the clone commander over the jet trooper any day unless you have the precision pistol
"Clone commander is the worst in the game"
*Footage of the commander melting groups of enemies*
"The pilot is stronger then the marine."
*footage of pilot dying to a turret*

It is honestly pretty fucked how much better the CIS are compared to everyone else in infantry, vehicles, and ships lmao.
It was even more fucked in the first game, where the Droidekas had stronger shields (could eat like 6 grenades, compared to BF2's 2 or 3) and they weren't even a special class, so you'd run into like 5-6 of them at a time.
@@fearlesswee5036 you know in a game that basically acts as a power fantasy when the player (me) goes out of his way to not even bother trying to kill droidekas especially in 1 lol; it’s just a time sink that has little gain.
the #1 reason palpatine rigged them to lose the Clone Wars lol
Honestly it isnt *that much* better as a faction, but has plenty of variables:
1) Definetly the best Assault class out of the 4, infinite ammo tri shot, wrist rockets are generally good (not sure if better than TD but relatively equal) and a generally more accurate blaster it seems
2) Every other default unit is the exact same across the board outside of cosmetics
3) Magna Guard has Recon Droid (L ability), a pretty slow and as such inaccurate primary that can do some good damage: but low ammo. Radiation launcher is good but not always great to use particularly good against tanks and hold tight corridors. Poison is an ok ability that is not as good as you might think but can do some extra damage at the risk of dying *very quick* getting in range to use it especially on a bunch of units at once. Overal a strange unit
4) Droidekas are by far more powerful in the hands of the AI when they can spam them at the start of the match especially.
-Very Powerful in close quarters
-Can constantly heal themselves with Health and Ammo Resupplies
-Can splice into vehicles (Which on Polis Massa as Droids is OP)
-Is the only base unit that can repair Medical and Ammunition Droids which = more health and ammo resupply packs which makes the Engineer the most survivable unit in the game that isnt a Hero.

The trooper primary rifles vary per faction, the secondaries are the same (excluding super battle droid).
On a scale of 1 to 3, with one being the worst; the guns vary on speed, damage and accuracy.

Droids 1 3 2
Clones 2 2 2

Personally I like the storm trooper, and you need to use them like so. Run up to the enemy and shoot, they work well with the damage boost. If you need to shoot from range short control burst.
Is there a place to find more info like this?
Another thing about the engineers is that if you die after placing a detpack and respawn as another engineer- you can still detonate it.
True
Best weapon in the game is the award pistol, so every pistol wielding character can become really OP on offense. And that's also why I'd usually play the Heavy class since rockets and mines gave me a way to also destroy tanks while the pistol could handle infantry. Not to mention the Heavies having extra health.
I do agree with the list mostly if award weapons aren't being factored in, though.
No they are not
Yeah, with award weapons heavy is absolutely broken.

Haven't played a ton of multiplayer, so idk how well classes do there, but here's some thoughts based on single player:
1) The precision pistol (award pistol) is the best weapon in the game by far.
I have to say, the recon droid is not horrendous, its self destruct function is absolutely OP in multiplayer

Not a hot take, it's just fact.
@@georgeoldsterd8994 Stromtrooper is one of the worst
@@ralfseemann167 cope
You would really like the psp games then
@@brudbrud9137 I bet lol. They always sounded so cool in the magazines.
Is mowing down enemies like it's nothing -> clone commander is definitely the worst
I agree. It would’ve been better to give the arc caster to the Imp officer and give the dark trooper something more similar to the blast cannon
Jump pack into shotgun was OP in 1
@@TyTheNerfGuy Maaan, but it was so fun!

Recon droids are actually decent in multiplayer, you're able to sneak up on people and then kill them before they know what's happening.
I never really thought to use them in mp tbh
If i remember correctly, the engineer class is immune to mines and can quickly dispose of them with his fusion cutter.
Neat never heard of that
i think youre underrating a lot of the classes at the bottom
clone commanders reduc buff is huge, probably the best buff in the game other than leias full invuln. the officers rage buff is also extremely useful and the sonic blaster can shred with headshots especially on retreating enemies. i think both are better than the droidekas
on the pc/collection versions the marine is way more useful than the pilot for boarding because theres 32 enemy bots which makes it near impossible to get to the internal systems as a pilot without guardian and gunslinger
the sniper is better than the super battle droid and maybe even the magnaguard, they have the fastest run speed in the game which is good for both horizontal movement and ramping on maps like mos eisley for vertical movement and if you use the pistol to line up shots they have the fastest ttk of any class
the dark trooper and wookiee are probably better than the engineer, theyre genuinely broken in terms of single target elimination and have similar survivability to the engineer
This guy is the only person in the comments who is actually good at the game
The rocket launcher of the Magna guard can also lock onto your targets if you have them, well, targeted.

No class is truly bad in this game just in comparison to others some are bad but if you are good enough you can make do with any class
counter point on the marines. you can stall most of the enemy pilots from leaving or you can rush down a core component and blow it up.. the engines you have to aim for the metal part and you have just enough to kill it.
The engineer is solid, but if you get the precision pistol the vanguard class becomes damn near unbeatable

The marine is good for combat in the enemy's hanger, but for sabotage and flying spaceships the pilot is better
Always thought it was unfair CIS infantry fire has no spread. Then the stormtrooper has spread frame one. Sometimes unplayable as Empire.
This guy must've been smoking deathsticks while making this video.
Wookies have guided missiles which works amazing in open maps
About that Imperial Officer, i believe the Sonic Pistol is a splash weapon with high projectile speed and damages vehicles as well. Mortar Launcher is great with 25 total shots compare to SWBF1 pilot class.
Yeah the grenade launcher is great that alone make him pretty good
Assault class is definitely #1 for its ability to take out heroes and Marines should definitely be last for being a terrible idea to pick in a space battle
I agree with this list with the sole exception of the Droidika
Droidikas are ABSOLUTELY A tier, esp on maps like Mustafar
@@spikethelizard2770 understandable
considering how many people i see in online MP using engineer i'd be inclined to agree that it is the meta to play engineer
the shotgun does decent damage up to a decent range and people dodge roll all the time in mp so having a weapon with spread helps
the detpack as you said can be used to take out heros and vehicles
you can repair vehicles and heal yourself as an engineer.
on the other hand though i'd argue the stormtrooper's rapid fire E-11 gives it advantage in close quarters maps over the other soldier classes and rewards a more agrressive playstyle
Exactly try using a clone commander online and tell me how that goes
@@brudbrud9137 honestly feels like you're supposed to buff allies and provide support for their roles instead of directly acting as an individual unit with commander classes
Clone commamder is good.
When your chaingun kverheats, switch to pistol and don't care about it overheating because you can switch back to chaingun which will cool down by that time.
Clone commander is actualy really good and has good strength, you just have to know how to use him
Wow i have the same thing with the clone commander where as a kid I thought they so powerful and now not so much. Reminds me of fighting games where kids always think the worst characters are broken lol
Typically it goes like
Character with on obviously quite high, simple parameter, that is severely overbalanced around.
@@aprinnyonbreak1290 Interesting, did you coin that?
@@playstationarusu
Uh.
Maybe?
I don't know for sure if the term does or doesn't already exist, at least, but I don't think I've ever heard it before.
@@ddddd9665 How many times do you get killed before having time to charge your weapon though?
If you master the DARK trooper well, it is the best in the game
Duplicate your lightsaber
The technician detpack can be thrown much further like a grenade if you hold it and release it while moving your camera up and going forward
Let's review:
*The Republic* : actually a member of 21st Nova Corps of the 4th Sector Army, more colloquially known as a Galactic Marines.
The engineer class is especially useful during the battle of kashyyyk.
Assault class was always the best for me, you can go crazy with mines on narrow maps like Jabba's Palace and Bespin when team damage is off
The fact that marines are the best class of the game it annoys a lot of people, the dark trooper in the first game was better, the rocket launcher troops are the best in case of non self-damage match (mines kill everything, you can clean a hall by only walking and right-clicking).
I'd argue the Droideka is the best unit in the game. The shields last forever and they do an insane amount of damage no matter the range
playing as the droids is honestly the worst
I used to think that as a kid now I don't mind em
Not on Polis Massa
"the clone commander is not bad, it's just the worst class"
For me, the sniper was always the best, you could take out just about anything, with the only real weakness being vehicles.
For me on all sides its best to worst trooper>engie>heavy>sniper
For the extra classes the jumpers, wookiee, and both droid options are good.
Yes you are my man. Love the Inginieur
I think the Wookie Warrior was great in the first game too!
"He's not a bad class, but he's definitely the worst" wtf!?
@@brudbrud9137 oooh, didn't know, i forgot about the input delay and shit controls ppl mention about classic collection, mb fam
@@sgshane lol it's all good
Sadly on online everyone spams the heavy class but me, I have class I kill em all with the engineer class, especially since im an engineer in real life too 😂
Your gameplay is giving me anxiety, i hug walls and cover way more personally, peek and poke is how i play lol
Awesome video
I use The engineer class trooper or Cis class every day 😊
To actually rank those classes you need experience in this game to know what you are talking about and by watching it my eyes bleed. You do not know how to reset weapons cooldown or basic mechanics like throwing a detpack. Next time do some research before doing such video.
Yeah I've just been playing it since 2005 I don't know nothing I'll ask you next time I make a bf2 video since your the goat
Good Video!
You're incorrect about the Marine class
Did dr Steve Brule make this video?
The clone commando is probably one of the best so wtf you smoking?
Yeah I agree republic commands is a great game they should have added commandos to this game
Is there any point playing this new starwars battlefront remaster. Everyone I know has refunded it lol
Lol rip
That's what I'm trying to figure out right now. I heard the switch version has the least problems so I'm considering getting it despite the fact it might not work well.
@@playstationarusu I had no issues myself when I played but it was fir only 30 min so idk
They don't give refunds on PlayStation. 34 bucks down the drain
Don’t. I’d buy the og on pc if you can but the remaster is literally broken.
2:46 that bothan spy jumpscare
This list is one giant hot take lmao. Space marine is a must if you're going to be boarding ememys ship which you probably are. Marksman or the rocket classes are easily the worst classes in the game. Maybe the marksman would be good for online but in SP the enemy's movement is so weird it's easier just to get close. Only thing I agreed with it the super battle driod and engineer classes. I'd take the clone commander over the jet trooper any day unless you have the precision pistol
I already uninstalled it
Not really the clone commander is mostly support by fire with his chain gun
