*Umm… it took primer PLUS 7 coats of paint!! 🫠 I loved the color in the end, but it made me work for it… and next time, I will just pick a color in the paint brand/style I know & love 😂 lesson learned!! 🤪*
That green as a LOT of yellow in it, so I'm not surprised at the amount of coats. Red and yellow are notorious for requiring SEVERAL coats. Back in the 90's we painted our bedroom raspberry and even with a (recommended) Barbie pink primer, it was still FIVE coats to cover!!
I had the same problem with this paint. I ended up 2 months later painting over it. Never will I buy it again. I will stick with the tried and true Sherwin-Williams paint. Your bedroom looks great. So pretty.
7 coats of paint is crazy. Nothing should need 7 coats of paint for full coverage. Not buying that for sure. I love the shade of the curtains and the nightstands but I think they clash. My opinion only.
The biggest difference in this makeover, is the addition of COLOR. In a world of gray and beige everything, the colors are what stand out the most for me. 🙂
Hiiiiiii painter here, when painting light surfaces with a dark color, you can have the paint store tint your primer to a gray so that the dark paint covers more evenly with less coats :)
*Sooooo… was anyone else as worried as me when I started painting?! 🤪 I’m thankful that after SOOOOO many coats of paint, I love the color & fingers crossed the paint will hold up 😂… but let me know all your thoughts on the projects we worked on today!? ALSO, are you in love with how the diy tv frame turned out & the impact it had?! I am so happy I finally convinced Kyle to try it, and I’m happy to share - he now wants to do the same thing on our living room tv 🎉 love it!! ♡amanda*
I've never seen paint react like that before...makes you wonder if it was just a bad batch maybe or the primer wasn't a good mix with the chemical makeup of the paint. I would have been crying 😭 from exhaustion by that 7th coat! 😬. Still though, in the end it turned out beautifully ✨⭐🌟
Adding the deep green throughout has made such a HUGE impact. Definitely the curtains made the biggest difference, but I also love how the green nightstands and frame tv turned out. This video was the turning point for the room for sure! I do kind of feel like the bed frame still pulls farmhouse with the new additions but overall the room looks so good and cozy. I can't wait to see the finished product!!
Hi Amanda, you mentioned headaches. I also get them from time to time. I've learned a lot of things about it. Some of it is due to things we fail to do for one reason or another. We need to be very hydrated. Dehydration causes headaches. We need to have adequate sleep. Lack of it also brings headaches. Nit eating on a regular basis. Lack of food also brings headaches. Worries. To take care of that. Breathing exercises. Deep breathes to fill lungs as much as possible and take an additional puff of air. Let it out slowly through the mouth. Do it as little as 3 times, then breathe in normal, making sure you fill your lungs. These little DIYs 😊 will help tremendously. I also found out chocolate and strong odors give me headaches. I've learned to listen to my body and no meds. That is the beauty of it. Sometimes, even direct wind or AC brings on the headache. Hope this helps. Thanks for the mask tip in case I do have it again.
You have such great decor ideas! Love the frame idea. The green nightstands are pretty. One suggestion, tint you primer is a game changer. They usually suggest and we have been doing this for many, many years is when you are going dark over a light or light over dark tint. Your primer close to the color you are using. You will find you don't have to do so many Coats. It actually saves you time, Paint and primer is usually so much cheaper than paint. Even if we have paint with primer in it tint primer. I have a couple boys that wanted their room. Dark and a family friend is a professional painter and he gave us that suggestion end. We only had to do a 2 coats. We could have actually gotten by with one because we used the tinted primer but I wanted To do an extra coat so we put a dark paint over a white wall and counting the primer. It was 3 coats and it covered beautifully. We have done this with furniture as well. Really, it makes a difference.
The curtains made the biggest impact to me. My favorite is the painted nightstands. I was shocked at how many coats it took to cover them. The end result with new hardware is amazing!
I would totally wear that headache band. I’ve always wish for something like that because when I have a migraine headache, I would just want to tie something around my head so it doesn’t hurt so bad. Never knew they made anything like that.
LOVE the green paint color but can’t believe it took 7 coats!!! I think spreading out the makeover through several videos allows us to enjoy the process more. I have truly enjoyed watching the slow transformation. It’s absolutely beautiful!!! Oh, and I added the blanket to my Amazon cart lol 🤎
Ok I confess...I had to go to the end to see. It's beautiful!!!! Yup. I'm the one who fast-forwards to the end of TV shows to see what happens then I rewind to watch show hehe 💜💙💚💛🧡
I love how the colour turned out on the nightstands. I believe if they were darker, they won’t have given the room that little pop of colour. Great choice!
The drapes made the biggest difference and help tie the room together. Not a fan of the green side tables but they work well in the room. I didn’t think I would like the frame on tv but it looks great and room looks very cohesive and beautiful.❤
I think the shelves make such a difference. Beautiful!! I know that you ask about the lamps switch but, I like the original lamps more than the new ones. The room make over is gorgeous!
I’m with you on the green. In the sun it’s a bit too green but the more muted/neutral looking version in shadows is amazing! Too bad it took so many coats!
I love your DIYs. It shows me that all cute things can be done on a budget and I don't have to spend loads of money! You teach me a lot of things to help me in my everyday life and I can't thank you enough!❤️
What a difference the color changes have done. I truly appreciate your vision on this one. I think I guessed 6 or 7 coats of paint on the nightstands. They are gorgeous. The picture frame really adds a touch of elegance to the TV. I am really loving the curtains just think what you will save on your power bill. The room is so inviting and warm. Great job both of you. I also loved the boys wanting to be a part of the do over. Thank you for sharing with us today Amanda. All of you have a wonderful week and till next time.😊
I love the color of night stands, the curtains was perfect color,,but most of all the way you blend n match shades of color is amazing once again great job Amanda n Kyle n kids too ❤❤❤❤
I love all the new upgrades you did, but looking at the room as a whole, I think the homemade shelves you did with the olive tree beside it is so nice and original with the three shelves. They fit perfect there!! Can’t wait for the next project 💜🇨🇦
The nightstands look great! A suggestion for future is always use a gray primer when painting dark colors. It’s a much better coverage and a much better truer coverage than painting over white.😊
I love the green but 7 coats is absolutely crazy. The bed from previous episodes are my favourite but the frame around the tv and green curtains are my favourite it does make a difference because the room is very white. You need to do something above your bed like art to add some colour that side. ❤
Omg everything looks amazing I love it very serene and perfect love the TV love watching Liam painting with you your dad would be proud that you're carrying on the painting tradition also I love your blouses lately they are so much better good job to all of ya can't wait for the next video
The biggest diff overall is adding the deep colors:) in this episode adding the pretty curtains def made the room more dramatic & cozy!! I think the walls may need to be darker maybe? Or an accent dark green wall? U guys are so inspiring! The night stands are beautiful!!❤
Oh my gosh! The addition of color makes a HUGE difference! So warm and cozy! The surprise was the tv frame! TV’s are just blobs of black so the color and the still picture are just unbelievable! Love love it!
I love it all!! the curtins rock with those openers,,,the frame on the tv is awesome... the lamps were the perfect touch... you and Kyle make a great team, as always,,, your room must feel so hoomey now..... GREAT job guys!!
The curtains made a big difference. I love how the night stands came out. And the frame around the TV looks awesome! So glad you guys made one as well 💖 All these little changes totally transformed your master bedroom 😍
The curtains. I’m a curtain person. You might say. I like privacy since we have a preserve area in the back many walkers passing by. I didn’t realize you had a pool. Looks beautiful with the lights. Blessings
Wow glad we have stuck with BEHR paint! 😮 I do love the color though. Green has been my color of choice, to me it’s a good neutral. We have had sage green in some way in all of our houses. I think the use of the color green has made the biggest difference in the room, especially the curtains.
The frame that y'all made around the TV definitely made a big difference, it looked so pretty like a picture frame, especially when u showed the night view. Also, I really liked how u matched the nightstands to ur curtains, the view outside is beautiful. I love watching your channel with all the different diys and the different makeovers videos. please keep them coming:)))
I honestly love your room 😍 definitely what stands out for me are the shelves, the nightstands, the curtains, and the TV surround have all brought it together beautifully 😍 and the new lamps 💚🥰
Hey Amanda!!! Ohhhhhh I was so nervous when you started painting, I 'm still not sure yet. The curtains are the most pop to your bedroom and the auto open/close is so cool. I do like the end tables now, what a difference putting them back. You've done it again an awesome job, what a unique TV. Loved this video. You look amazing Amanda ❤❤❤
WOW!! I didn’t know the difference these changes would make today. The room looks so elegant, warm & cozy. Your talent of making everything come together so beautifully is amazing. Besides the real obvious changes you did today, I like that you used the earth tones of green and brown. From the past, the wall mirror has been lovely, the comfy corner chair is always a plus, and the shelving has been great. Oh, and the gold lamps are a YES!! 💛💛💛
The curtains, I think, have made the biggest difference to the room. The corner with curtains, armchair and footstool looks really inviting and a lovely comfy space for a cup of coffee and a book, or a glass of wine.... or two, but altogether what you have both done is a fantastic achievement, really clever 🎉🤩
The nightstands made a huge different to the bedroom and the TV frame turn out great! The curtains also made the bedroom look so cozy and warm! Love it!
I love the green nightstands and the curtains are really the jewel of the room. Looks so warm and lux. My Dad was a house painter and I spent summers helping him prime prime and prime some more so I definitely feel ya on the priming hate😅. My tip when painting something from light to dark is to mix some of the tinted paint into the primer. Helps with coverage and less coats. And always buy the best paint for your job.. you can always color match the magnolia line colors into your favorite brand of paint. I use valspar cabinet paint all the time for furniture but typically tint it to Benjamin Moore or SW colors.
The biggest and BEST change in my opinion is the TV frame and dresser ! It is such a center piece that just pulls everything together! ❤ Love u amanda! ❤
Any where you pushed yourself beyond the usual is what shines in your room. Smudging the framed TV, the nightstands…the floor to ceiling drapes …if you look at the room, where you played it safe (previously )is pretty obvious. It has personality now. Good job!
The curtains made a huge difference for me ,the bold color brought warmth and made it cozy and just tide the hole room together, the feel like the shelve on the wall are missing something I don't what but they feel empty ❤❤❤
The room turned out gorgeous!! I love that shade of green. When you were painting the nightstands.. it reminded me of when I painted our shed door a dark red. I could not get it to cover.. after about 4 coats I painted the door dark brown and then back with one more coat of the red!!
The bedroom makeover turned it amazing! From the curtains to the painted furniture, the shelving, etc. My guess was it took 5 coats of paint so I wasn't too far off. I honestly would have given up after the 3rd coat at most 🙃 I've heard that the Magnolia paint looks good in the can but terrible coverage and finish. I wouldn't use it. I'm glad you liked the end results after all of that work. Looking forward to your first Room Rescue! 👌🏽👍🏼🏡
Amanda, you and Kyle work so well together. Kinda like you were made for each other. I love the color of the night stands, but 7 coats...wow! Love your home!
As someone who has done their fair share of painting furniture my tip would be that if you’re going to paint a anything a darker color, then have your primer tinted to a darker color. That way you can get away with only two coats of paint.
I love how every thing turned out I want to change the colors in my house I'm going towards green seeing how it look in your room is making me feel more comfortable with my choice
The bedroom is looking so nice & refreshed!! Love the frame - I'm glad we all convinced Kyle - lol!! The curtains look great - love the color. one suggestion for the sliding doors is to please get rid of those vertical blinds & that piece on the top that they're attached to - I think it would look even better! I would love to see a decorative bed pillow maybe a lumbar style - ya know a longer one across the other 3 w/more color or a pattern that would pull all of the lovely greens & browns in the room together. Or even a grouping of ones w/some color. I can't wait to see the final reveal!!
I think you need to paint the shoe holders the nice deep green as well. Green is my favourite colour. I have a pop of green in every area of my house. X
Oh my gosh, I love your bedroom. Those drapes set off the completion of the room and take to highs that I never imagined drapery could. The step stool green was a good choice. Amanda & Kyle, you both are great ❣️
Hi Amanda , you look great with the weight loss. I like the green, so don’t worry. In the South here, I use Excedrin migraine. I used to have them a lot and would have to go to hospital to get shot. The medicine works for me. Ok beautiful people everything looks great.😊Kyle is awesome with these projects. Absolutely awesome.
*OKAY… How many coats of paint did you guess?! Comment below ↓ and I’ll put the answer in the comments!! (No cheating!) 😂🤪😘*
I’m going to say 5? Promise I didn’t cheat. Please let us know how many?
*Umm… it took primer PLUS 7 coats of paint!! 🫠 I loved the color in the end, but it made me work for it… and next time, I will just pick a color in the paint brand/style I know & love 😂 lesson learned!! 🤪*

Where is the link to them!?

The way I gasped and backed the video up!!!! Omg. Worried doesn't cover all the emotions I felt for you! 😂 I really love the final color though!!! 💚
I would not have guessed 7 coats!!! That’s a lot!
Yes I thought oh no that color but came out really great
I just kept thinking, thank goodness she's not painting an entire room!!! 7 coats is insane!!😳
I will never buy Magnolia paint after seeing this! You have so much patience and are so gracious! The good news is they turned out great!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️
I love it when a house looks like the owners and not just what is in style. I do like the nightstands.
Adding the deep green throughout has made such a HUGE impact. Definitely the curtains made the biggest difference, but I also love how the green nightstands and frame tv turned out. It looks so warm and inviting. You and Kyle are so clever...its beautiful. 😊😊
I love the automatic curtains and the frame around the tv!!
Your level of patience is INCREDIBLE!!
The curtains made the biggest impact to me. My favorite is the painted nightstands. I was shocked at how many coats it took to cover them. The end result with new hardware is amazing!
It's just beautiful!! For me it was the shelves and drapes!! Another awesome makeover!! I do love your visions, Amanda!!
The curtains, nightstands in the green and the frame on the TV is everything.
I think the curtains did the largest transformation! They look great and the auto open/close is awesome! Room is looking beautiful.
The TV, nightstands and curtains. I love, love, love Everything!
I would totally wear that headache band. I’ve always wish for something like that because when I have a migraine headache, I would just want to tie something around my head so it doesn’t hurt so bad. Never knew they made anything like that.
O my goodness. It’s so beautiful ❤I’ve never seen anything like the TV frame before. It makes a big difference.😊
For me the biggest thing that stands out is night stands and curtains. Love the nightstands.
That curtain switchbot is SUPER cool! The curtains are gorgeous.

Well, your bedroom is looking very adult and cozy. Beautiful
I LOVE the curtains! and the frame on the tv.
Thank you!! The cozy touches really brought the room all together!!

You are my favorite people on TH-cam. Your family is so real. I LOVE the color.
🥹🥹🥹 you’re so kind Kathy!! Thank you!!
The curtains. I’m a curtain person. You might say. I like privacy since we have a preserve area in the back many walkers passing by.
I didn’t realize you had a pool. Looks beautiful with the lights.
Blessings
Awe sweet memory. My mom & I always did lots of home projects together. 🥰 precious times & I learned so many skills.
Amanda, your bedroom looks great. You guys are great with ur decorations, & remodeling. For me, the frame around the TV set it off. ❤❤❤❤❤
The curtains, the framed tv and the bed blanket. I am so over the grey and whiter era! Bedroom looks warm and inviting. Great job.
Wow glad we have stuck with BEHR paint! 😮 I do love the color though. Green has been my color of choice, to me it’s a good neutral. We have had sage green in some way in all of our houses. I think the use of the color green has made the biggest difference in the room, especially the curtains.
The nightstands are beautiful. I love the green
The wall shelves and curtains made the biggest difference to me, but it all lovely throughout the room. 💐

Thank you!! 💕 It’s been so nice to transform our room into a cozier space! I’m so happy with it!
You’re right! I love the darker color vs the bright green look. I was surprised that it took 7 coats of a Magnolia paint. 😮
Those lamps really made a difference.
Love the nightstand color. Curtains are beautiful too.
Looks so warm and inviting! I think the curtains and color of night stands made a beautiful change. 😊
the drapes and the side tables and lamps are great.when you have a door to your bathroom it it will be good for your heaith
I honestly love your room 😍 definitely what stands out for me are the shelves, the nightstands, the curtains, and the TV surround have all brought it together beautifully 😍 and the new lamps 💚🥰
Hey Amanda!!! Ohhhhhh I was so nervous when you started painting,
I 'm still not sure yet. The curtains are the most pop to your bedroom and the auto open/close is so cool.
I do like the end tables now, what a difference putting them back.
You've done it again an awesome job, what a unique TV. Loved this video. You look amazing Amanda ❤❤❤
Love everything about the bedroom makeover. The color of the nightstands, lamps on top of them, but most of all, the tv frame made the biggest impact.
WOW!! I didn’t know the difference these changes would make today. The room looks so elegant, warm & cozy. Your talent of making everything come together so beautifully is amazing. The Tv but the whole room is beautiful !
I absolutely love the night stands and the TV frame. I have been wanting to do that for a long time

The biggest and BEST change in my opinion is the TV frame and dresser ! It is such a center piece that just pulls everything together! ❤ Love u amanda! ❤
Love Karrie Lynn! Glad you follow her, too! Your room is beautiful.
Love the styling & the tv frame. I love how you painted your drawer unit under tour tv.
I love the color green you used on the side tables.
I think definitely the green accent. Just adding that color made the room!!
I am OBSESSED with those curtains! I think make a huge difference and add a touch of elegance. The TV frame is a close second!
Love it a nice bit of moody art above the bed would take it up a notch xx
This space just screams cozy! Love it so much. It’s definitely a dream space.
Colour and the TV .You are talented Amanda xx
Love all the elements you brought in !! I love the curtains !! Looks like a luxury hotel !!!

The curtains seem to stand out the most very beautiful color and the length is to die for
The curtains are the best feature, as well as the TV frame and green nightstands!!!😮😮❤❤❤
I love how every thing turned out I want to change the colors in my house I'm going towards green seeing how it look in your room is making me feel more comfortable with my choice
I love the curtains and the TV frame Looking great
Oh my gosh I love the TV frame. The bedroom looks sooo good.
Amanda & Kyle, you both are great ❣️
The bed you painted and the drapes look amazing
I loved the night stands 😍😍😍 the color is very nice and the frame for the TV, love it 😍. Great job Amanda and Kyle 💯
Hi Amanda
, you look great with the weight loss. I like the green, so don’t worry. In the South here, I use Excedrin migraine. I used to have them a lot and would have to go to hospital to get shot. The medicine works for me. Ok beautiful people everything looks great.😊Kyle is awesome with these projects. Absolutely awesome.
