I am definitely not afraid to travel alone. You can’t wait on other people to live your life. Thanks for this list. Spain is definitely on my to-go list.
I don't want to drive when I'm traveling either. Public transport / Uber me please! I love these choices. I hope women who are ready to try solo travel hit these places up. Great video Kita!
Agree, Australia is very safe for solo travelers. (But it is harder to do it cheaply.) It's just a general be alert to your surroundings kind of advisory same as most pleases. What I would add though, it's it is not great for traveling well off the beaten track by yourself as a tourist or even just going hiking alone unless someone knows exactly where you are. There are a lot of areas where there are very few people, phone reception can be spotty to non existent on a normal cell phone and if you are injured, car breaks down, bitten by a snake etc you could get into a lot of trouble especially if you don't know what to do, and no one knows exactly where you are going and when your ETA is so an alarm can be sounded if you don't turn up. Same with beaches and rivers, if you don't know the area, don't swim in unpatrolled areas as there are often hazards (anything from dangerous rips down south to jellyfish and crocs up north.) Only other thing I'd suggest is don't hitch hike, especially if a female solo traveler. It's one of those things where most people probably won't pick you up, and if they do, although you'll get away with it most of the time, it's just that little bit too risky. Other places- New Zealand and many of the smaller Pacific Islands can be safe for solo travelers. For example in Niue everyone was very friendly and I never felt uncomfortable. You will want to rent a car if you want to get around though, so the travel there tends to be pretty self guided given it's not a big tourist destination and you'll probably find that with some of the lower key destinations in the pacific. It's not the case of all however (like the capital of Fiji may not be the best choice for a solo traveler to wander around) so need to check. Thailand can be ok as long as you steer clear of the seedy and hyper touristy/tourist trap areas. (I felt unsafe in some of the the touristy areas of Phuket, and was approached by scammers in both Phuket and Bangkok. Had far fewer issues away from those areas, even when traveling on ferries etc. but I was very careful anywhere near bars, didn't walk on beaches by myself after dark etc.) Even then I'd generally recommend being very vigilant after dark and ask for local advice where is safe to go and being aware of the scams that are often directed at tourists, avoiding tuktuks (expecially if solo) etc. Although I recommend Thailand, I think it is a place to do your homework before you go and stay a bit more careful than some other places on my list. It was actually the first place I went to by myself overseas so it is doable if you're careful. Have only had layover stays in Singapore but felt safe there also (have been walking about the main streets after dark without any issues) and have heard very few negative things.
Thanks for sharing your experiences. And yes, definitely stay away from heavily toured areas or just take precautions as that is typically where scammers wait on vulnerable (not just solo travelers) tourists. Thanks for watching!
This was a good topic for a video. Traveling unfortunately can be tricky with your Black and gay. So I was tuned in. I agree I don't like to drive when I travel especially if I'm in a whole different in a whole different country.
Yes it can. It is definitely important to do research before going places to know what to expect or to know if you should go. And driving is no for me of course lol! Other countries have different driving laws, I don't have time!
Listennn, i saw a girl on IG recommend Egypt as one of the best places for solo travel FOR WOMEN and I was like NEVER. Even if I went to Egypt solo, I would NEVER encourage someone else to do it. Europe is known for petty crime and theft. I definitely want to hit up Italy and Spain soon.
Right! I would never tell someone to go there solo either. Highly recommend to go with a tour or a group. And I haven’t been. And yes Europe stays with the petty crime which I rather handle solo than other threats in the world.
Thank you so much for this video. I have to agree with Barcelona being a top choice. I was there in 2019 and I am going back for a few days after I travel to Lisbon. This will be my first solo trip. I was a but surprised by Australia as a choice. I've always heard that they are prejudiced there but I understand different people have different experiences.
I absolutely loved Barcelona. And I had heard that about Australia also but fortunately in my experience everyone was cool. I even met someone who came to school in the city I live in the US. They do seem to be more prejudice towards their Aboriginal population just based on my impressions. But it seems like every place has an issue with some population of people unfortunately.
I love these videos. I would love to travel solo at least once in my life. Sharing your own experiences with each place is really helpful for others who want to travel solo.
Dude these places are definitely on my go to list!! I have newborn abd husband so I won’t be traveling anywhere solo but still wanna make these a family vaca ❤️
Thank you for making this video! I actually just started this year to do Solo Trips! I still need to get my passport but I definitely want to check out Paris, Turks & Caicos Island for a relaxing but adventurous time plus Barcelona!
I feel safe to travel to any European country like Germany or Spain . I would avoid Middle East countries and South America. I love Costa Rica , beautiful island 🏝
Yes Costa Rica is such a beautiful country. And for me most places I have visited in Europe have been decent. But there are a few countries I will be avoiding.
August 2025 going to planet Hollywood resort in Costa Rica with a group. I’m going solo but I’ll be with a group of women Sam. I know Terri’s Blissful Travel.
I always see videos advising where not to go so I'm glad there is one with suggestions. I was surprised by Barcelona being #1 but I'm think about going. Do you have any thoughts on Cabo San Lucas?
For your first solo trip don't do anything silly. It's a learning curve. In Costa Rica my biggest problem was aggressive beggars. A sharp crack with my walking cane solved that. In Europe both Malta and Cyprus are a great choice. and no language problems. Australia or New Zealand are fine. If want somewhere safe but challenging try Albania. Biggest problem will be the language barrier but that makes it fun.
Aww your drivers name is so cute.omg I loved the clip of the zip lining!!! I don’t think any culture promotes men to mistreat women I just think some men don’t care how treat a woman no matter what county or culture they are from.
Of course no one promotes it as that would probably get other countries involved, the UN or something. But in some countries women are not respected. Their bodies aren’t respected. And it may not be safe to travel solo there. And that is something I will not let me viewers not understand which is why I spoke of the men in these countries. Even here in the US women aren’t always treated with the same respected (I.e equal pay, current issues, etc).
Costa Rica is amazing and I didn’t feel unsafe there, except when we ran into a night club that got busted lol But also love Paris! I’ve never had any issues there thank goodness
I think my favorite to try would be Paris France. Couldn't imagine going without the hubby. Barcelona sounds very interesting and would be my second choice.
I would have things like a door jammer or stopper for the hotel room door or even alarm. But I would not recommend carrying mace or weapons as they are more than likely illegal where you are going.
It varies. Some places, I just use ride sharing (whatever that means for that location). Or some places I have ordered a driver who is waiting for me with a sign outside of arrivals. I usually find those on Viator (www.viator.com/?pid=P00072049&mcid=42383&medium=link).
@KitatheExplorer Thank you so much! I've been hearing good things about Viatour. I didn't realize that you could book a driver on there as well. I'll check it out!
Yes I've enjoyed it as a platform connecting me to local tour guides when I travel. But yes, I have found most of my drivers for prearranged pickup on that platform. Definitely check it out and be sure to read the details and reviews to see if the option works for you.
@@KitatheExplorer ohhh. I’m about to look that up. I’m right outside of Atlanta. 🍑 I did a staycation in Buckhead. I just love high roses and views of the city.
Yes, look it up! The Nobu Atlanta Hotel is right next to Phipps Plaza in Buckhead. Also, I just did a tour video of the hotel from my stay here: th-cam.com/video/yiiS4boEWTA/w-d-xo.html
Oh no. Sorry you experienced that. It’s crazy how everyone has a different experience traveling somewhere as I fortunately did not run into this in Barcelona.

I just went to Costa Rica- wasn’t by myself but I think it’s a good place to travel alone. I felt safe there and everyone was super nice
Right! Its the pure kindness for me! La Pura Vida!
Love this idea of hiring a driver for longer trips. Sounds safe and worth the investment to enjoy what you want. Thanks for this tip.
I'm glad you enjoyed the tip! Happy and safe travels!

Wow this is so on time! I just had another friend flake on me and I said time for another solo trip! This is a sign!
Take that solo trip sis!!!
Turks & Caicos is #1 on my travel list! Southwest has flights right now for 350 to Turks. Paris & Cost Rica are also on my list.
You will love it! I’m definitely eyeing to go back soon.
I would love to visit Costa Rica. I love how you shared tips and parts of your experiences. Very cool of you. Ooh Paris. Definitely on my bucket list.
I’m glad you enjoyed! Thanks for watching!

I would travel to all! You did a great job at bringing this info to us - I learnt a lot.
Glad you enjoyed it!

I have done girl trips but no solo trips.
Some times you need to know this for girls trips too!
What items would you suggest for added safety
I would have things like a door jammer or stopper for the hotel room door or even alarm. But I would not recommend carrying mace or weapons as they are more than likely illegal where you are going.
How did you arrange for the driver on vacation. Are they just uber drivers or do you research drivers somehow ahead oftime?
It varies. Some places, I just use ride sharing (whatever that means for that location). Or some places I have ordered a driver who is waiting for me with a sign outside of arrivals. I usually find those on Viator (www.viator.com/?pid=P00072049&mcid=42383&medium=link).

Barcelona, Costa Rica, Paris all look like IT for me! Have you gone to all those places? If so, what inspires so much spark in your travel?
Yes, I have been to all three of those places! And I travel as I enjoy to learn new things and meet cultures outside of home here in the US.

I was in my 20's in Barcelona and felt too much racism from the natives. It was not very nice for me😞😞
