I have been groped once in my decades of solo travel... In Bethlehem on Christmas Eve. The only place I had someone try and break into my room was San Diego.
Hello there.. tq for your sharing. i came across your channel while searching for the list of country that safe for women to travel alone . happy that you included malaysia on your list 🇲🇾
Sorry to hear about your trip in the Philippines. That's very unfortunate, but i hope you'll give it another go. Beaches are actually nice and the locals are very accommodating. But thanks so much for sharing these! Learned a lot!
I find eastern Canada safer than western Canada and stats wise that’s true. Eastern cities like Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, Quebec City and Halifax all have lower crime rates than western cities like Winnipeg, Regina, Saskatoon, Edmonton, and even Vancouver - Calgary is the only exception
Japan yes, definitely one of the more beginner friendly destinations for solo travelers. Have you travelled to India and if so, would you put it as a recommended place for solo travel or the opposite? lol
As a Filpina I'm surprised how many people feel safe traveling to the Philippines 😅 I grew up in America but I have heard enough stories from everyone in my family that really makes me not want to visit. We've lost many close family friends to guerilla groups or just crime in general.... and my family was considered affluent in the PH.
Love this video! One thing that I learned and wanted to share with you is to look for a duffle bag that best fits your luggage and has all the wonderful features a bag can have especially in plane travel use. I'm using Nomad Lane's Bento Bag and it's a good choice.
I’ve always wanted to go to India to study yoga but am hesitant about the climate (I don’t really like super hot humid climates even tho I live in Florida lol). Also is it safe to go exploring as a single female? What is appropriate dress there in order to blend in? I’m gonna search through your other videos and see if you’ve covered it. 🤞
Tbh, it really depends on what part of india u wanna go, if its mumbai, ppl do wear revealing clothes there but if its delhi u need to be careful but jeans and tops are obv not problematic, revealing tops coyld be a problem. Similarly for other states. Mumbai is the most open minded city i would say
That's unfortunate but good to know about Nepal and the Philippines. The Santiago experience sounds crazy. Also a nice surprise to know that Africa has been so safe for you! I had a former coworker who thought it was the worst place, but he also flew helicopters for an oil company there and stayed on their compound at all times. I guess that's technically central Africa too, not in the South or East.
It’s a HUGE continent with completely different cultures and potential experiences depending on where you go. I imagine that job wouldn’t give one the best perspective of a place
Also, please be watchful in big train stations in Europe even if they’re in so-called safe countries like Switzerland, there’s travelers from all over and pickpockets know that it’s a prime spot to possibly rob something.
I had a great time in South Vietnam and I saw a lot of other female solo travelers. You do need to watch out for thieves and scammers in big cities and high tourist areas just as you would in those areas anywhere else. I actually think my own country ( USA) is more dangerous.
Agree to most listed as mentioned, especially in Philippines as well. We had quite a few unfortunate incidents that happened in Manila. and there's people even pretent as our event's guests, they take turn came into the function room and stole our iphones. And the vibes around there just not right for us. ❤ Safest for us should be no. 1 -- Singapore 🇸🇬, and also Croatia 🇭🇷!! Croatia is amazingly friendly and well verse in english.
You ve had mainly good luck hardly met many when travelling or maybe was just wrong season. Hostels had mainly snobby types plugging away at laptops lol. Noone has given me rides or bought me free items lol I wouldnt actually accept lifts to be honest. But then that s just my view.
Hey! Muse thank you so much for this video because I really needed this video so so much you are my inspiration and I wish you reach 70K Subscribers very very soon!💕💫☺️
*Nepal?* I'm honestly stunned by that one. I've traveled solo all around, and Nepal was actually the non-Western country where I felt the safest of all. I stayed for a very long time and felt extremely respected by all the men. Everyone seemed friendly and humble. But I guess assholes exist everywhere.
I am confused. Your videos seemed so good, but then I noticed you have 1 video in which you say that Namibia is safe (this one) and then another one in which you say that Namibia is unsafe - this one: th-cam.com/video/4IlQ7g1E2Jo/w-d-xo.html Can you help clarify why you have 2 conflicting stories about Namibia? Thanks
As a Chinese immigration to the US for over a decade, I must say I do not feel surprised at all that China made the list. Most people I ran into are nice and willing to help if needed. Just a few notes: you might come across scams in hot tourist sites, overcharging, pocket-picking, etc. But these people might treat white people with more respect, which I do not like since I have to admit Chinese are very racist. And people will treat you with more respect or politeness if you dress nicely and high-end. Yes, Chinese admire wealthy people and they treat poor people badly. Other than that, I feel completely safe in terms of your physical safety. You might be pocket-picked, but 99.9% chance you will not be hurt or involved in any sorts of violence, which is quite different compared to city life in the US.
Please, when you’re in Japan, still do careful things. I had things stolen in Japan. It was not by a Japanese, I won’t say who it was but be watchful is my advice. Mine was an isolated incident, but it was not by a Japanese, but it still happened in Japan.
I agree that it might be pretty representative for the solo female travel experience overall…. but it is by no means is a realistic depiction of these specific countries - bad things can happen anywhere
Just discovered your channel. First i want to appreciate your positive comments about africa it is not wholly depicted in the media. You have an open heart and mind that i truly admire. Then I really must bring race into this so i must say must be nice to solo travel while white. Totally different experiences for a black woman. I have solo travelled in europe and i lived in china for 4 years and whereas it was safe..I was not as welcomed. No hard feelings, it is what it is you can only report on your experience. subbing for inspiration for my next destination but as for experiences go…imma go to my black sisters who solo travel😃any one you can recommend?
Absolutely - there is enormous privilege that comes along with being white and traveling and I see it, I’m uncomfortable with it, but I also benefit big time from it. I really enjoy Oneika Raymond’s takes on solo travel as a black woman. Like me, she has a child and mostly travels as a family now, but you might enjoy her shares. Glo Atanmo as well!
We all know the whole East Asia is the safest on earth. No need to mention every one of them. It's enough to just name a few that really impressed her. The cultures are practically the same.
I think all countries have good and bad. My daughter worked in Japan for a couple of years and hearing forever how safe it was, I was at ease with her going. Terrible things happened to her there. She was groped on the train, stalked by a man on the train and she was also assaulted there. And then there are the natural disasters. There was a tsunami, flooding, an earthquake, a tornado, a volcanic eruption all within a day. I was very happy when she left there. Not to mention the work culture is crazy.
I think withholding the names of these places is not doing us is not helping us. It’s enabling the bad behaviour to continue. I think you should name the places

China??? This surprised me. I am an ethnic Chinese. The first time I/we went to China(Shanghai), my impressions were, the place is beautiful but people are rude, impolite, not helpful to tourists(including govt officials and airline personnel) ,scammers. Well at least many that we’ve met.
@@Bemytravelmuseas someone also of Chinese descent I agree with OP. I think it’s because you went to the inland provinces where most people are not ethnically Han Chinese that you experienced better hospitality 😅
When I wanted to go back to my hotel from Shanghai Disneyland(railway station) , my Alipay failed to work, local policeman was very kind and guided me to the ticket machine and taught me on how to purchase the train ticket with cash :)
China 100% make sense. It's generally very safe. If people come off as "rude", they are just direct and don't dance around around culturally, especially the working class, they dont have time for that. You almost have to switch off your guage for politeness and understand that it's all neutral, they are not deliberately making you feel bad.
Thank you for this. I'm just sorry (for you, and all females) that you had to deal with creepy men, and that we (as women) can't just travel freely without worrying about our safety.
Even at the time of civil war in Nepal No tourist were harmed and for one incident you claim Nepal is not safe to travel. In each and every part of the world there are some people who are just and idiot but for that you cannot say in your video that Nepal is not safe .
I know the name of the video is called ”countries where I FELT safest” but I still think it’s a shame to emphasise these one time events and thereby discourage people from travelling places. I personally had an awful experience in Copenhagen in a lift - where a man started full on wanking and asked me what my hourly rate was, like these things can happen anywhere! Of course there are places that are more or less safe, but then I would look into statistics rather then listen to these singular accounts… I get that this is just someone sharing their experiences and that it’s not that deep, but I feel like spreading these stories just unneccisarily gives countries a bad rep. I’ve personally been to all the places on her ”unsafe” list (except for the Phillippines) and haven’t had a bad experience in any of them… obviously the Tanzania one is moreso valid because it’s a weather thing…. but overall a lovely place. In Nepal I even spent a full on two months and loved every second of it, and it’s literally known as ”India light” - and I think it’s a great starting out country if you’re new to the travelling scene! Santiago de Chile and Berlin are cities…. cities tend to accumulate a lot of weird ppl… that being said, these cities are not more dangerous than any other……
Not me watching this as a female from Finland dreaming of solo trip to Berlin and cycling from there to Poland Krakova and trying to get some info on the safety. 🥲 And since I also want to sleep in my tent I guess I need to rethink this... 😭 But seeing Finland mentioned here warm my heart. ❤️🔥 Also seeing you dip in avanto makes you one sisukas perkele. 😝🤣
I'm surprised not to see Thailand on this list. I felt very safe there, travelling alone. Re: African countries. Sub-Saharan, yes, I felt very safe. Egypt and Morocco, women travelling either solo or with a partner, be on your guard.
Lol safe countries for me and not based on my travels. Safe countries Iceland Canada Japan South Korea Singapore Spain Italy Portugal Switzerland Australia New Zealand Indonesia Thailand Cambodia Not safe feeling USA Bahamas Dominican Republic Greece I’m from the US east coast.
I wish you wouldn't include Brazil in the South America unsafe travel list. Overall it is no less safe than US or UK but travelling alone there as a woman in early 2020 was the most empowering experience I've had in any country. Men are respectful and kind and everyone is super friendly. ❤
It wasn’t mentioned because it’s unsafe outside of the big cities, but rather than it can be difficult due to the language barrier. This was the opinion of someone sharing with me on social media.
I do have to disagree i absolutely adore brazil it is a lovely country but I have had the worst things happen to me as a woman there. Sexual assault and just a lack of consent and lack of respect for my boundaries were very common. The people of brazil are very kind generous and fun but sexism and violence against women is a very real and valid concern. I am from the uk and it is definitely less safe. Overall however brazil is a beautiful country because of the nature and natural beauty, the gastronomy and the kindness of the brazilian people still worth a visit depsite the issues
Most places are probably a lot “safer” to travel than to live in. At least proportionally in comparison to the statistics. But sometimes it feels like a lot of travellers just makes shit up like saying a country “just has a bad reputation” or is just as safe as the UK just because nothing happened to them on their 2 week trip.
Namibia is number 68 on the global peace index and the U.S. is number 131. I’ve been to Rwanda which is also Eastern Africa and it is true, as a woman I felt very safe there unlike in the U.S.
@@jabbejonsson2773the U.S. has mass shootings almost on a weekly basis if not more often as well as robberies, murders, and so many more occurrences. There are many countries in both Africa and Asia where the people are civilized.
@@Tina-pw1hr Been to like, lived in as a local or visited as a tourist? I bet if I hit up the main attractions in the US I will have a completely different experience than someone living there!
@@Tina-pw1hr The US is a lot bigger. Most fatal shootings in the US are not mass shootings but gang related exc. It is a very unfortunate problem still, my hearth goes out to the victims. But you can’t ignore that the homicide rate is more then twice that of the US. I travelled to India as a solo female but it was back in ‘99. Obviously things have changed since but I felt very safe there. In Goa, Kerala and Delhi they speak English very well but the further north they don’t. Temples require women to cover shoulders. I did a 10 day silent Vipassana meditation retreat outside of The Pink City Jaipur, and it was amazing and they served the best vegetarian food and chai tea I’ve ever had. Goa and Kerala are beautiful. Do the Backwaters tour in Kerala and visit the Western Ghats mountains in Kerala too where you can feed goats at the peak. 11:45 In case anyone was wondering the area is one of the most diverse in Berlin, mostly Turks, Arabs and Kurds live there
So is Neukölln which she liked
I have been groped once in my decades of solo travel... In Bethlehem on Christmas Eve. The only place I had someone try and break into my room was San Diego.
Had 4 break ins living in California 🤷🏻♀️
Cali is on another level.
Learned a lot!
and she didn't localized it. She said the whole Philippines.
A lot of these places remind me of my home in Kansas ❤ makes me not scared to branch out
Thank you for sharing….i plan on solo traveling in 2026 so this was helpful
I live in Vancouver, and I wouldn't say that Canada is the top safe country. 😅 But it also depends on where you live in Canada.
Honestly depends where you are in Vancouver
I find eastern Canada safer than western Canada and stats wise that’s true. Eastern cities like Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, Quebec City and Halifax all have lower crime rates than western cities like Winnipeg, Regina, Saskatoon, Edmonton, and even Vancouver - Calgary is the only exception
I’m so sorry you had that experience in Nepal 😭😭 I apologise 😭
Love this video and your honesty! Thank you!
Thanks for watching!
I lived in Santiago, Chile for 6 months. Had a wonderful experience throughout the city. No aggressive behavior by the men.
Totally not related to the topic of this video - but where did you get your jacket? The colour is gorgeous!
Thanks it’s Columbia 😊
As a Nepali citizen, I would like to apologize that you had to experience that here like genuinely.
Literally though! Like catcalling and staring is common for us women, but groping? Crazy.
I really wanna go to South Korea. I'm really nervous about going solo cause I have 0 experience with international travel. I wouldn't know what to do
I traveled alone in Spain and felt very safe!
Hello madam. This video help me lots. Please suggest cheapest solo itinerary for Switzerland.. I love traveling. I love watching your video..
thanks alot!! can you give some tips how you got in touch with so many locals?
Japan yes, definitely one of the more beginner friendly destinations for solo travelers. Have you travelled to India and if so, would you put it as a recommended place for solo travel or the opposite? lol
Do you have info on the tours you run in Namibia?
🤞
Totally safe
Dont go
Tbh, it really depends on what part of india u wanna go, if its mumbai, ppl do wear revealing clothes there but if its delhi u need to be careful but jeans and tops are obv not problematic, revealing tops coyld be a problem. Similarly for other states. Mumbai is the most open minded city i would say
It’s not safe for solo female travelers, go with a group
@@zahramohamadi1826What makes you say this? Have you had a bad experience traveling to India?
Thank you for those ideas based of your experiences ! 👏🤩🤍
It shows where you can travel solo as a woman and where you can’t ! 🤩🤍👏
Also, please be watchful in big train stations in Europe even if they’re in so-called safe countries like Switzerland, there’s travelers from all over and pickpockets know that it’s a prime spot to possibly rob something.
thank for your share
What type of visa did you have for Namibia for the 7 months you were there.
I had a great time in South Vietnam and I saw a lot of other female solo travelers. You do need to watch out for thieves and scammers in big cities and high tourist areas just as you would in those areas anywhere else. I actually think my own country ( USA) is more dangerous.
One suggestion if you could leave the country name on the screen while you talk about it, that’d be great
Agree to most listed as mentioned, especially in Philippines as well.
You are so welcome!

*Nepal?*
I'm honestly stunned by that one.
Thanks
I did not say it was unsafe! Just that it can be difficult to travel around by yourself, purely because of vast distances and logistics.
Sorry, I wasn't meaning to be rude. It probably came across that way though. Thank you for clarifying. @@Bemytravelmuse
❤ from 🇨🇦 🍁
if you think the us is unsafe for women don’t ever go to brazil 💀💀
Please, when you’re in Japan, still do careful things. I had things stolen in Japan. It was not by a Japanese, I won’t say who it was but be watchful is my advice.
Mine was an isolated incident, but it was not by a Japanese, but it still happened in Japan.
Thanks for this. I want to travel a bit alone, and hearing the "unsafe" stories is very nice to have a realistic image on traveling alone as a girl.
I agree that it might be pretty representative for the solo female travel experience overall…. but it is by no means is a realistic depiction of these specific countries - bad things can happen anywhere
since I am danish I would like to know if you have been to denmark
Yes and I enjoyed it!
Is Spain/Europe safe for women
I would say generally, yes, pick pockets are extremely common, so be careful with that.
@@Bemytravelmuse okay awesome, thank you for the reply!
Have you visited Australia?
@@Bemytravelmuse thank you!
Living in China while black seems like suicide…
All people are afraid with gorkhas but its most safest place in the world✌️🙏
every countries there is some areas not safe for solo traveler. . even america..
China? maybe in the provinces for a tourist like you but I don't know in the cities.
All East Asian countries are very safe
i am surprise when u named malaysia on the list and not country like korea or even taiwan…….i am a little bit confuse
抱歉,纠正一下,台湾不是一个国家,台湾只是一个地区,谢谢!
We all know the whole East Asia is the safest on earth. No need to mention every one of them. It's enough to just name a few that really impressed her. The cultures are practically the same.
semoga bala tetap sehat selalu
Few people know, but Iran is a very safe and beautiful country for women to travel alone
Lol
@@justsomerandomgirl I feel sorry for you for being so ignorant
I knew China would make it to this list
Namibia is safer then the US. That is damning with feint praise !
Myanmar is also safest and cleanest nation
What about the best place your company can send you to. Any ideas?
I think all countries have good and bad. My daughter worked in Japan for a couple of years and hearing forever how safe it was, I was at ease with her going. Terrible things happened to her there. She was groped on the train, stalked by a man on the train and she was also assaulted there. And then there are the natural disasters. There was a tsunami, flooding, an earthquake, a tornado, a volcanic eruption all within a day. I was very happy when she left there. Not to mention the work culture is crazy.
That is awful. I am so sorry for her.
Are you visited India❤🎉
Sorry, I have to comment. Why put all of the Philippines not safe while putting the other 4 into localized places
Why travel so many times and say it's not safe?
lol how is malaysia be safer than switzerland
Yeah China and New Zealand🎉🎉🎉
Iceland is a place I'd like to visit but why does rape come up online with Iceland?
I think withholding the names of these places is not doing us is not helping us. It’s enabling the bad behaviour to continue. I think you should name the places
Im So sorry that happened to you in Germany, im SHOCKED Germany is ONE OF THE SAFEST PLACES TO LIVE‼️‼️, I was there last November went to munich then on to Hamburg i Fell in ❤❤❤❤ With it so much I WANNA MOVE THERE IN THE NEAR FUTURE ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤I ABSOLUTELY love Hamburg i never experienced such hospitality and the people were very helpful to me and NICE‼️‼️ Which is A Shocker SINCE ive always heard the germzns are rude🤷🏼♀️While i did love Munich as well I felt like Hamburg was more for me i felt so at home there and for someone who has always said id NEVER GO TO EUROPE IM GLAD I DID🩵🩵🩵 NOT ONCE did i feel UN safe there next time i go back i plan on gojng to Berlin, Franfurt and Cologne im mainly going there to see the museums
Now the UK well thats a different story🙄🙄While ive never been there i heard its BAD there due to drugs crime and whatever else Thank god i have NO desire to go there , HOWEVER id like to see Lodon one day
One Con about Hamburg the Train terminal lots of homeless drug addicts i was surprised but i guess there is the ONE SPOT in every country but i can tell you in Hamburg THE POLICE DONT MESS AROUND‼️‼️‼️ If something happens they are there in less then 3 min EXCELLENT SAFETY standards
And THE BEST ASIAN NOODLES IN THE FOOD COURT OMG🤗🤗🤣🤣🩵🩵🩵🩷🩷🩷POLICE ARE EVERYWHERE they dont play over there
In Munich BEST DOUBLE CHOCOLATE COOKIES AND THE SAUSAGE STAND AND GREAT SHOPPING MALL😂
China??? This surprised me. I am an ethnic Chinese. The first time I/we went to China(Shanghai), my impressions were, the place is beautiful but people are rude, impolite, not helpful to tourists(including govt officials and airline personnel) ,scammers. Well at least many that we’ve met.
I think a lot of big cities can feel that way. But the small towns, people were amazing.
@@Bemytravelmuseas someone also of Chinese descent I agree with OP. I think it’s because you went to the inland provinces where most people are not ethnically Han Chinese that you experienced better hospitality 😅
@@Entername-md1ev Han Chinese are still the majority in inland provinces.
So on a single incident you blacklist a country and an entire continent?
I wonder if your bad experiences in Germany were by indigenous Germans or by immigrants there..?! Just saying..
Of course there are places that are more or less safe, but then I would look into statistics rather then listen to these singular accounts…
I get that this is just someone sharing their experiences and that it’s not that deep, but I feel like spreading these stories just unneccisarily gives countries a bad rep.
Santiago de Chile and Berlin are cities…. cities tend to accumulate a lot of weird ppl… that being said, these cities are not more dangerous than any other……
I feel the single incidents you had in Nepal and Philippines maybe just that . There are bad people everywhere. There is no place 100% safe
The sound of your jacket was distracting

I’m from the US east coast.
A you tell me about your experience in South America? I want to go next summer
Namibia has a homicide rate of 17 per 100k ppl
United States is 7 per 100k ppl....
There are more than 100 times population in the US so counting how often something makes the headlines is not very representative. Rwanda and Nambia are far between each other. Africa is a whole continent of course some countries may have less shootings than the US but please go by yourself to rural Kongo/zimbabwe/Mozambique and so on by yourself and tell me you feel safe and comfortable!
Yes, unfortunately Germany has become increasingly unsafe and dirtier over the last ten years. We are also aware of this here in Germany. A lot has happened in Merkel's politics and it is difficult to correct it now.

@kidscafe493 Being an Indian woman let me clear the air. Cities like Mumbai are safer than any other part of the world when it comes to women's safety, and I will stand by it. However, yes there are certain places in the north that are not safe for women (Noida-Gurgaon area, Jharkhand, Bihar and UP) where I've felt extremely unsafe. South Indian cities and towns fall in the middle of the spectrum.
😂 what are you talking about ? Namibia has a crime rate near Venezuela...
Talk about staying true to the narrative ..
the safest places on the planet are homogeneous and have high avg I.Q.
this should be a no brainer... it still boggles my mind many women will ignore their intuition and stick with "all humans are the same" and any difference thats negative is another "groups" fault
I’ve always wanted to go to India to study yoga but am hesitant about the climate (I don’t really like super hot humid climates even tho I live in Florida lol). Also is it safe to go exploring as a single female? What is appropriate dress there in order to blend in?

Saw wild elephants swimming at a national park also in Kerala.
I fell in love with India and would love to go back some day. Remember though, that I was there quite a while ago.
Happy travels!
