THE RUSTIC body of this 1949 Ford has been born again using the engine and electronics of a 2008 BMW 335i. John, from Sahuarita, Arizona, bought the two vehicles, which were heading for the scrap yard, for a total of $3,400 (USD). John told Ridiculous Rides: “The 49’s compact body made it a really good fit for a modern car. We could just drop the frame over the BMW’s chassis.” Working with five of his friends, John and his team have worked on the car over the last year and a half. John added: “People’s reaction has been amazing! The old American body style, mixed with German engineering, makes it relatable. This car has something for everyone!”

I saw a 49 Ford mixed with I think a 1999 Ford Thunderbird. This was years ago. This is a pretty cool idea also.
Awesome car but don’t park it anywhere that you don’t want to get an oil spill on given the BMW part.
Hahaha, what the video didn't mention is that we had all the seals serviced on it. So no leaks for a little while. LOL.

@@ManiacsGarage The theme of this car is magnificent, no doubt about it. I would love to see it more refined though with "finished" bodywork and a clean but descreet paint job. I get the feeling that there was no "heart" in the job, just "Oh well, we've got this body and we've got this engine .... I'll just see if I can put them together and maybe sell it to someone, I don't want to keep it". I will definitely take a look at the full build on your channel! Thank you!
@@BackSeatHump There was a lot of heart and thought that went into this project and though it looks unfinished from the outside you better believe that a ton of time, in fact approximately 2500 men hours went into this car over the last 2 years to get it to the SEMA show last week. It's inspired by Mad Max and a post apocalyptic world. The new episodes will show the detail that went into the interior and future episodes will highlight the tuning of the Garratt turbo atop the BMW N54 engine. We are not a shop and the car is not for sale. 👍
@@ManiacsGarage I have no doubt that it took lots of planning to "get it right". With all of the bulging curves in the '49 - '51 Ford, I can imagine it was more work than it would have taken with the '52 and later models. I am impressed!

Looks great but sounds super weak sorry. Needs a V8. Too much money spent for something so weak

I believe that engine can handle around 650 horsepower on stock internals so i really wouldn’t call that engine weak lol
