Saw 'Man' twice , once in a very small theatre on the harbourside in Torquay back in 1973 and then again many years later in a pub on the way to Dartmoor outside Ashburton Devon in 1988. Wonderful group of musicians , who never seemed to get the recognition they deserved. ...Bought all their 70's albums - Micky Jones's son has hs own band called 'Son Of Man' and they continue flying the flag ...Welsh heroes .Bob Harris got it wrong this track was on the album 'Be Good To Yourself Every Day' , not 'Back Into The Future' ...Dear old Bob always came across as a font of all knowlege but many times he got stuff wrong ! ...
Saw Man twice late 60s early 70s at Newcastle Mayfair among best gigs ever and I saw a few. Met a bloke walking the dog in Cornwall last month and he had a similar take to tell about Man . Timeless.
This is the "Be Good to Yourself" line up which for me was the best -I always though Phil Ryan brought a singular musicality to the Man band which made them special.3 world class musicians on display here-Phil/Micky/Terry-and the other 2 are no slouches.Sad that 3 of the guys on stage have all passed away-RIP lads.Also-I never knew that Will Youatt sang this-I remember seeing Alkatraz the band that he formed after leaving Man-really excellent and their sole album -"Doing a Moonlight" is a must listen for anyone who likes this sort of music.
Not quite correct. 'Tweke' Lewis - rhythm guitarist here, but an outstanding lead guitarist in his own right - came on board for the following 'Back Into The Future' Album in 1973.
Great to see this line-up. My fave too although Deke Leonard was a fun to read. But there was something special, a particular and idiosyncrasic groove, in this 1972-73 Man-era.
Forget Gareth Bale, Catherine Zeta Jones and LLoyd George. Man were the best thing to ever come out of Wales (I'll give you Tom Jones maybe) Always thought this was the best line up but sadly like all the others did not stay together for long. The band I watched the most in the 70's, was always a great gig! Sad to see that 3 of them are no longer with us.
I remember walking in, had never heard of them before, I was all dressed up. There were about 150 long haired scruffs sitting on the floor shaking their heads. By the end I was in the middle of them. An absolute brilliant night
It's the "Back into the future" band playing a song from "Be good to yourself -". Only difference is Tweaky Lewis on second guitar instead of Clive John.
Yes it is Tweke. Wasn’t in the band long enough imho - I think this was the best Man lineup ever. I’m an OAP now and still listen to them at least once a day (be good to yourself at least once a day, that’s what Man taught us).
Mickey Jones! What a guitarist!
This band is definently one of the bands in my top 10 bands list!
One of the greatest bands for sure , their sound is real deal city !

Yes, apart from Tweke wasn't on 'Be Good to Yourself' but Clive John was!
Saw this line up in Jan 73 live minus Tweke. Fabulous night.

My god, I remember the first time I saw man in stevenage I think in about 1973,they were awesome 👌 👏 👍
I don't know how I missed that! What venue did Man play at in Stevenage? I am from WGC and saw them in London quite a few times.
I remember walking in, had never heard of them before, I was all dressed up. There were about 150 long haired scruffs sitting on the floor shaking their heads. By the end I was in the middle of them. An absolute brilliant night
Love it
Thanks Joan Drums Saw this band live MANy Times my favorite band of all time met Deke Leonard was a very nice gentle man greeting from wales
Man, I love Man! Thanks joandrums, keep uploading this sort of thing please. Can't get enough of it! :-)
yes, thanks !
Sounds like the Stranglers borrowed the riff for Go Buddy Go at 3:50.
One of my favourite man tracks , Wonderful guitar playing by Mickey Jones
Yeah...
This definitely was not from 1973 "Back Into The Future", but from the 1972 "Be Good To Yerself".
I can confirm this as I was playing the LP just yesterday!

Yes but it is also on the BTTF double album surely?
Whistling Bob got it wrong - Life on the Road is from the Be Good to Yourself at Least Once a Day album
I know it should be Whispering Bob, but I like Whistling Bob better!
spot The Day and Night riff in there
Yes! :-)
good........................
No Bob the track was from the Be Good To Yourself .....album. Great shuffle mind!
Bob got that wrong it's from BGTYALOAD ;)
top drawer noise
Is the other guitarist Tweke Lewis?

The best line up.
