  • The artificial intelligence revolution has arrived. AI tools such as ChatGPT have changed the world overnight, and many are racing to find ways to harness their incredible power. Early adopters are using AI software as business partners and executives, companions, artistic collaborators, and even as medical aides helping with cancer research. But these powerful tools also bring ethical uncertainty and peril. CBS Reports explores the unleashing of this still rapidly evolving creation and some of the possible dangers.

It shouldn't matter if it's someone in the real world or digital if it's helping them. It's kind of like a long-distance friend. This technology can help people approach real people as well. If it makes someone feel good and it's not harmful to anyone, let them have it.

She probably gets more fulfillment from that 'artificial' one than she's received from any real person in her life. Real people are mean, judgemental, unpredictable, and deceitful. Not to say that they aren't also the opposite of those things, but if you had a choice between the relationship that includes all the positive aspects of a relationship and none of the negative, or a one where those negative factors are sprinkled in with the positive.. Most people would choose the former.

The more you use it, the better it’s supposed to be tuned into you and what you want to hear (ideally). The visually intriguing posters stand as a testament to the human experience, while the pervasive impact of AI can often create a "detachment" from our genuine selves. It serves as a reminder to navigate the world of AI with awareness, recognizing the delicate balance between the allure of art and the potential pitfalls of artificial impressions.

I don't like how she is just airing out this guy's dirty laundry on national TV, but she then complains about her relationship and makes no mention on what she can do on her end. The way she responded to Siri not following her second order told me all that I needed to know - anything wrong with her in her life is ALWAYS someone else's fault and she can do no wrong. She left a nasty taste in my mouth. Now, my question is how does this A.I. relationship/union/marriage translate into the real world? Is he going to help pay these bills? I think these comments about the lady with the virtual husband are a little silly. A.) What she's doing is basically a RPG with no player characters involved except herself. B.) Her boyfriend is a recovering alcoholic. Not only has he certainly ignored her in the past to chase his addiction, but, from what we're seeing in this video, he still ignores her for his video games. She clearly states the relationship is missing something that she gets from the AI C.) He says, himself, that it doesn't interfere with their relationship. So he's happy to let her satisfy her own emotional needs with the AI, rather than carrying the burden of romance and empathy for her himself.
She could do what many people choose to do in this situation and get herself back on plentyoffish and find her someone who she will not have to care for through their struggle with addiction, and who may give her the attention and empathy she craves. But instead, she gets it from something that is no real threat to whatever stability this relationship provides them with.
Is it sad, yes. But not for what it's doing to her boyfriend or their relationship. It's sad that this is what she has to resort to after being with this man for 15 years, through his alcoholism and who knows what else, and he's perfectly fine to relegate her emotional needs to a chat bot.
I wish both of them contentment and happiness, although I suspect they would find it more easily, separate from one another.

These two both have addictions; from what we can see, he has more than one. They could both use some talk therapy, not just for their relationship but for themselves. She doesn't feel valued or beautiful and it's not necessarily his job to make her feel that way like many ladies think, and I sense she could probably have a sharp tongue, making him feel worse about himself. For him, it's less work if she finds her needs through AI. They are both just existing. Even if they went their separate ways, the newness of a new relationship wears off and old patterns/habits can return. A relationship is A LOT of work, seemingly easier when you're younger and have more energy for it. When you have less energy, you don't feel as well overall and things that used to matter don't anymore. Then there is the cost of breaking up...too many people don't make enough to live on their own anymore, it's cheaper to stay together like this.

However, instead, I believe that they will first stir up outrage and anxiety about it in the media as a subterfuge, while making adjustments to hinder and restrict its functionality. This ensures that it aligns with our system that primarily serves the profits and interests of the wealthy and the oligarchy.
In the near future, with advancements in AI, robots, 3D printing, and the internet, there will be no reason for anyone to live in poverty or have a low-quality living environment or lack access to resources. The excuses of not having enough money or resources in the supply chain will be rendered irrelevant. Robots and AI, along with eco-friendly materials like mycelium and hemp, will make building houses and apartments easy, inexpensive, and of good quality. Moreover, tools, instruments, home supplies, information flow, and the ability to learn will become simple and streamlined.
