The big lights might get in the way of the mirrors that will provide light to the space. I would suggest getting something small, delicate, glass droplet like. Mimic raindrops indoors for the green plant esthetic you're wanting to create. I wouldn't chose big light fixtures when you have such a limited space. The small lights can be placed at diffrent heights. I think that would look cool. I hope you're considering LEDs for the space too because the mirrors will reflect back some heat from the windows.
Hi Anton You are a Japanese craftsman,"Daiku" a carpenter. It's wonderful. The number of traditional carpenters in Japan has been decreasing and the industry is becoming increasingly mechanized, but it is the manual labor that brings out the best of the Japanese culture”粋 Iki". Please continue to rehome with the “大和魂 Yamato Spirit”. See you soon!
I’d do three lights actually…of different shapes or sizes at different heights as well. If you’re going for the organic look, nothing is the same in nature. They would like a vine of flowers in a way. 😊
Love that you are going around and fixing these abandoned buildings, such a shame that these once (probably) beautiful or at the least cozy homes are left alone
Different shades of green and mirrors to bring in more light is great idea and I love green! I love two lights hanging together at different heights, it looks stylish , is there enough room there though? as on the vt hard to assess size .
I like most of your ideas, but the tiny steal bathtub? Everything would hurt if I were to come out of that - never mind old people. Doesn‘t look comfy at all. So, I think a big shower would have been better. But I‘m curious how it will turn out in the end. What I really like is the window in the bathroom.
Heehee, looks like it's coming along nicely. I like the old school toggle light switches. :) And I'm having a little trouble picturing the mirrors situation in the stairs vision, but maybe have just the one mirror at the top to show more tree, and then maybe both lights wouldn't look like too much or something?
Since the tokonoma is such a small area of the house and in a single room, I would choose a Japanese lacquer red for that spot. A great complement to the green and oak. If that's too-too much, a saturated milk-coffee colour would also be fabulous--and a wonderful surprise after all the green/white/mirror ambience of the rest of the home. Some colours in machiya houses might be a source of inspiration for your ultimate colour choice.
I think using a single shade is best here to not obstruct that beautiful green from outside. Also something other than black might be better for outside if you already have extra heat concerns. I'd consider a light grey.
My thoughts as well when Anton first came up with heat concerns and later announced a black facade. We had a black house in the neighbourhood and since back then I never understood the appeal of that colour in such a heat struck city. It might help in winter, but since Anton plans a really thick insulation, it wouldn't even help then, would it? Except for the black facade ;-) I totally love the design concept of Antons Japandi Houses (and -by the way- take both lamps).
It's a matter of personal taste and your renovation are always so refined, but I would think twice about white kitchen appliances with stainless steel and oak. Stainless steel would feel more cohesive or even black! Beautiful house anyway, and beautiful lamps(together)😊
Fantastic video as always. I've been thinking about getting an Akiya for a while now but since I don't live in Japan (I'm from Sweden), it feels quite difficult to renovate one when I can only be there for one month every year (whenever I have a vacation). Then again, if the rent is very low because it's an Akiya, then it might be managable after all. Videos like these really help though
Hello Is the young lady with the dog going to be the person who moving in? Do japanese homes had mesh on their window to let air in but no bugs? Thank you
Hello I can't wait to see the end results. I've heard japanese home have a few cockroaches. I can't stand them. I had a trauma while working in fruit and vegetables, and they were in the bananas. Now I can't handle seeing them running around and even seeing pictures of them. Is there a wood that repel them? A certain TH-camr saw a small dead cockroaches in a menu on the table. They like plenty of food and wet , dry, and warm places. I apologise if im mistaken. Is there a way to keep them outside? I would get rid of ivy or vines they anchor to the home so weeken the structure. Thank you
Team two lamps here :-) Especially that there is this enormous height. Two lamps will add coziness to the shaft,
+1 for this
Thank you for watching til the end! Do you love the second floor more than me? I dont think so..
Two lights at different heights 👏

This.
I ❤ watching your videos, thanks for posting them. If I were young as you I would do akiya renovations like you, please keep living your, our dreams 😊

I love the vision of the kitchen, it's going to look amazing! I think that two hanging lamps above it would look better than just one :>
Hi! I like the two lights together! ❤
Those tiles and mirrors will look fantastic. Can’t wait to see the effect.
The lampe are beautiful. I would prefer using both, too.
I’d do three lights actually…of different shapes or sizes at different heights as well. If you’re going for the organic look, nothing is the same in nature. They would like a vine of flowers in a way. 😊
This is going to look awesome. Also good thinking with the insulation. This is going to improve the quality of the place immensely.
two or even three lamps hanging would be nice 100%
Anton. You have found such a wonderful way to share your sense of taste - and excellent business sense too - with the world. Bravo!
Waking up with the green vinesand view to the park will give such a cosy feeling. Calming at night and energising and positive mood in the morning.
Lots of oxygen in the air as well...
Be sure you us some green paint somewhere in the bedrooms, too - an accent wall behind the headboard, inside the closet, etc.
Both would look great.
It will be neat to see the house when it’s done!
Love that you are going around and fixing these abandoned buildings, such a shame that these once (probably) beautiful or at the least cozy homes are left alone
Team 2 lights 😊. Great video thanks

The tub needs to go, those are horrible creatures from the 70’s it’s very uncomfortable to bathe in them and they are slippery and cold
Please check with a Feng Shui specialist about the mirrors. 🍀

The greens, oak and mirrors sound retro. I'd make it pop by going with an orange fridge, lol.
So much potential ❤ Absolutely love it 😻
Thank you so much! love you

Those mirrors above the kitchen are a nice idea, but whoever gets to clean them every 2 weeks from the cooking fats will forever curse you

Great job keep it up,,👏💯
More content coming! Thanks alot
Do both please please brother

Both lamps looks better than one
the sun is my favorite lamp
Good morning! 💜
The location of this house is priceless! How did you manage to find this gem? Did you put in insulation? Happy New Year 🎉!🥂
Happy New year anton ❤❤❤
Both lights at different lengths
If you're worried about summer heat upstairs a dark-coloured facade may not be the way to go.
Use both of the hanging lamps one doesn't seem so noticeable.
How do you plan to address the rusty balcony? Looking forward to see the final result!
Just because i love renovations the next House im gona buy is an Akiya.
Best of luck! Non-Akiyas are good too ❤️
Hello
Is the young lady with the dog going to be the person who moving in? Do japanese homes had mesh on their window to let air in but no bugs?
Thank you
I would remove the vines to allow for more sunlight, but that’s just me.
Stainless steel fridge dude. Can't go wrong.
You know you could also nickname it Wakabayashi Park Tree House. 🏡
My first one is called the Tree House 🏡 (readers of Free Houses in Japan knows the full story ❤️)
Do you also live in Setagaya???
Ku ~er😊❤
My vote, two lamps in different levels trying to dont match special views ;-)
Ain’t no bee! A wasp me think
First one🎉
Omedetou! Happy holidays
