  • Steel is real. But wood is good. We don't often hear about wooden bikes, but they have their merits for a frame building material. This bamboo fixed gear rides incredibly smoothly and gets compliments left and right. What more could you want?

    Much respect, Zach! You're one of the OG Fixed Gear TH-camrs that have helped get so many of us get interested in and even hooked on fixed gear bikes! Must be a great feeling for you to know you've converted some roadies such as myself to grow to love fixed gear bikes! Ignore the disrespectful comments you get from time to time. Unfortunately there are some on the Internet that "know better" than you and will try to discredit your success for whatever reasons. 115k+ subscribers speaks volumes - you've been working hard at this for years, always improving along the way, and it really shows. Well done! Keep on keeping on, Zach!

    So cool that you're talking about Maldea! I actually had one built by him and brought it back to the Netherlands. He told me I was his 3rd dutch customer at the time (the other two were living in Manila), and I'm pretty sure I'm the only one with a Maldea frame in this country. It is still a non finished project though...gonna be great!

    i own a ave maldea frame until now, and it is worth it. It is also a lightweight frame even if it's a steel frame. Would love to give you more clips about it

    Nice review! I’ve ridden one here in Intramuros, Philippines. It’s kinda heavy than usual. But it’s nice. Also it’s very expensive for me. Guess it’s not for everyone.

    What a sick frame! I'd keep the rear tire full black just because it compliments the bamboo seatstays better. And you could probably do with a cheaper tire for skidding :)

      Probably gonna switch back to a cheaper tire once I wear these ones out lol. Hopefully they last me a while

    A guy I know had a bamboo bike and the BB shell broke out from under him during a ride but the way that this bike is built, I would feel infinity more safe on it in comparison as the critical stress points are steel.. Bamboo is stronger than steel but the joints are where you are bound to need new teeth.

    Origin8 = "Originate". I really like the quirkiness of this build. I saw the other bamboo bike & almost bought one.

    Here in PH, if you want a zero setback there's no other option than Kalloy Uno Straight Seatpost.
    It's a pain just like the 130bcd chainring.

    • @padfoot3770
      @padfoot3770 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Bebo I'm talking about availability of 1/8 130bcd chainring here in the Philippines. Unlike the 144bcd there's a lot of options. It's a pain when you need to buy the whole crankset just to get the chainring you want and most of it 170mm arm lenght.

    • @padfoot3770
      @padfoot3770 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Bebo the problem is most of the roadbike chainrings are 2x. 50-34t and for 4claw cranks.
      The only 130bcd available online here is a folding bike specific chainring and it flexes when you're sprinting causing chaindrops.
      That's why the first ugrade for my fixie is a 144bcd 165mm crankset. btw I'm short legged person hahaah

    • @padfoot3770
      @padfoot3770 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Bebo I don't have to worry about that anymore. I've just got my new cranks last dec21 😂
      One particular brand "GEESTAR" they have a 1/8 130bcd chainring, you can choose either steel or alloy. But I don't like the aesthetics hahaha
