That Southern Colonel is a parody of Senator Claghorn from "The Fred Allen Show." And yes, Foghorn Leghorn's voice and mannerisms are based off Senator Claghorn's.
God i love the Simpsons. THE WHOLE Time you just know he is either going to FORGET or Homer is going to shoot him in the back. lol Love old Simpsons divert expectations
I like the fact that despite Homer being the one to cause the duel to happen in the first place the Southern Gentleman doesn't kill him despite having a good chance to. He shoots Homer in the arm which means he's incapable of shooting back due to the pain, he also spares Homer's life because he can tell that Homer has a family that needs to be looked after, which no gentleman would dare to put into dire straits.
"The bone stopped the bullet" and refusing to go to the hospital is what kills me. In case you don't know, if you're shot, you want a through-and--through. If the bullet is lodged in the bone, you risk a lot more injury
If you are serious the best explanation is that those pistol shoot round ammo instead of bullets, the main objective in a duel is to prove a point and rarely about killing the oponent
@@TheLakabanzaichrg It was perfectly clear from his decal and Homer's paranoia that the man was intending to kill him. Homer also mentioned that the bone stopped the bullet. So that bullet is in there, it's just not bleeding. Those round Ammo guns do a lot more damage in real life too. Could take a man's head off at close range.
Duelling has two Ls. And because it's been bothering me lately: Jewellery and travelling, traveller. Au revoir, Americans. Auf wiedersehen. Farewell and fare thee well; safe travels.
A true southern gentleman, he was kind enough to aim for his arm
He never did say he wanted to kill Homer. Just a duel.
@@MesugakiCorrectionalFacility
You had me at kill part man but the duel is OK by me
@@MesugakiCorrectionalFacility Very true 😂
Some duels were to first blood. Or in cases where both parties missed their shots they'd consider the matter settled.
homer didn't hurt his pride and dignity anyway no reason to kill
Homer's scream when he gets shot cracks me up every time.

Even better, when theyre at the farm you think theyll never see the southern guy again but he's there at the end
Hey, are we dueling or what?
That ending made me rolf the whole day!
Funniest moment in the episode. Homer had a way out, but Homer being Homer failed to see that again!

He also doesn't complain nor point out how Homer made him wait for days outside his garden
@@NIDELLANEUM Of course not, he's a southern gentleman it wouldn't be polite for him to complain.
true
"Where are my manners" and he shoots him lol

agreed
Can’t say no to that
Homers cowardly March 😂

Every time I go to a restaurant I always say “is That I say is that pie??” 😂
This was very much a non-fatal version of the 1804 Aaron Burr-Alexander Hamilton duel. The Last Duel certainly wasn't the last duel.
He fired a gun near a baby.
Well he did forget his manners.
She's fiiiiine
The baby also fired a gun, and was a better shot.
That's okay, Maggie's got her own guns and knows how to use 'em. Also knows how to fight with a broken bottle.

That southern Colonel is a mix of Colonel Sanders, Boss Hogg, and Sam Elliott.
Let's not forget Foghorn Leghorn. LOL
@@sailormoondisneygirl6269 Him too!
Funny how Homer pulls into his house, just to find that the Colonel is still there waiting for him.
This is one of the my favorite episodes of the Simpsons.
Good ole Jeff Bergman remind of Foghorn Leghorn chicken! lol
Homer never got to take his shot at the colonel.
So their both left handed

The only thing I never understood was why didn't Homer bleed in that episode. Was it because of the over exposure of plutonium?
it is cartoon
His body fat protected him.
I think it was Fox.

Let's be real I hope homer Simpson has learned his lesson on dealing with devil and to mess with the wrong guy
All because a little glove slap got "out of hand."
