Hawkei military vehicles are ‘the right call’ to support Ukraine

- Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has been advised Hawkeis are still in a developmental stage, which is why M113s were used in Ukraine’s support package, according to retired Major General Gus McLachlan.
“From what I understand, the logistic package behind it (Hawkei), the ability to push spare parts forward is not as developed as it should be,” he told Sky News Australia.
“I guess Australia is trying to be responsible and not push forward a vehicle that may not be sustainable.
“I think hawkei is probably the right call but on the other hand it’s clear the M113 is really yesterday’s equipment.”
There is "Bradley square" in Ukraine. soon we'll see "Hawkeis square"

The M113 is basically an overpriced bus. It's not meant to be a combat vehicle. It's for ferrying troops to and from combat zones.
They want ANY armoured vehicle, even M113s. When they are rolling around the battlefield in triton cabs, volkswagon vans and fiat cars then of course they are going to talk up anything and everything if it gets them more🤷♂️ dont feel special.
Bushmasters have proven to be great coffins for dozens of Ukrainian soldiers.

It on the surface, on a quick reading, gives the PM a great PR story with excellent popularity Optics. Looks Good to the general public who really have no knowledge of military equipment.
Albanese from his days on the Student Council of Sydney University. What always mattered to Albo, is optics over real material function.
Because its much easier to deliver a on first reading, a good sounding story, than deliver a Policy that has been well though through with lots of research, deep Due Diligence that requires real hard work.
