  • I test the difference between running one Savox 1256 Servo vs two on the E Revo 2.0. Obviously two are better, but this shows just how much.

    Question, did these Savox fit into 2.0 normally or did you have to do some sort of adaptation?

    I have been through 2 sets of stock servos from Traxxas. It really is a pain to keep changing them all the time. I even put my stock servos from the old E Revo Brushless in my 2.0 and it appeared they were weaker than the stock 2.0 servos. So I was going to run just 1 powerful servo in the 2.0 but now I'm going to run 2. Do the Savox servos make a hum sound when they are in the neutral position, i have heard digital servos do that and it is normal to hear them make noise.

    • @outsourcedrc
      @outsourcedrc  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes they hum. It's not too bad. You can hear them in my latest video when I am looking at the rear of the E Revo.

  • @bigbadbronx72
    @bigbadbronx72 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Quick question. What is the BEC on the ESC? If those are high voltage 7.4 servos, and running only one the ESC's BEC voltage being lower than the servo can use, ie; a 5v BEC ESC limit running a 7.4v servo, it won't be at full strength. I'm sure you figured this in, just asking because I'm most likely going to get an E-Revo 2.0 VXL this winter. Thanks and great video!

    • @outsourcedrc
      @outsourcedrc  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I forget what the BEC is stock. I'm aware that they are not at full power. I don't think they really need to be. I assume that running the servos at full power will drain the batteries faster, and Savox servos already drain batteries pretty quickly. When I put these on I was going to put a BEC on it, but after I drove it around I didn't think it needed it. I may get one and test the battery life after installing. I know these servos as they are shortened the run time by like 15-20 minutes.

    • @bigbadbronx72
      @bigbadbronx72 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@outsourcedrcI have to disagree on the shortened run time. One servo operating at it's full 7.4v will steer the truck 100% better and only shorten your run times slightly. Try it out!😀

    • @jimhimesjr
      @jimhimesjr 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      bigbadbronx72 agreed. One servo running at 7.4 should be using less battery then 2 running at 5 or 6 volts each.
      Savox servos are power hungry but 15 minutes less run time seems like a bit much, they aren’t like a motor that is working constantly.
      Good video, interesting comparison.

      @@jimhimesjr I didnt do a battery life comparison on the E Revo 2.0, but I know before I swapped the servos the 2.0 would run out of battery about 5 mins before the V1 E Revo, and now its like15+ mins before the V1. Its pretty consistant.

    I believe if you had purchased the Savox 1230SG instead you would be just fine running a single servo setup. The 1230SG is 500 oz torque @ 6v so it's pretty close to what you have their between the two Savox 1256's. Also, did you change your servo saver spring over to the heavy-duty one that Traxxas offers for the E Revo 2 when you upgrade to metal gear servos?

  • @dylanwhite6539
    @dylanwhite6539 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    No, there’s no reason for Dual servos. Your issue here is the size of the tires, possibly your lack of stiffer servo saver. Traxxas does recommend using a single servo with the ERevo 2.0 with that stiffer spring with their 330oz and 400oz servos.

    I agree with running two, simply because of how hot both my servos get, but traxxas runs 2 cheapo servos instead of 1 nice servo to save money and get you to buy hop-up parts later on. They even advertise the 330oz blue 2250 servo as replacing both stock erevo servos as a single unit. Yeah, because I noted the same thing in mine when I first went to a single servo, especially when it had twice as much torque as the 2 stock, but I didn't actually see much benefit until putting a aluminum assembly, it's faster regardless of the amount of resistance. The stock plastic part just bows really bad, so you need both servo's one pulling one side while the other pushes, it allows the plastic part to turn relatively straight (instead of just bending when one servo is pushing and pulling on just one side).

    I think this is a bad comparison. If you’re going to compare 2 vs 1 then you should have compared the 2 1256 servos against a stronger single like the 1230. Then you would get a better idea of what is first of all cheaper to run and second just as if not more efficient

      The whole point was to compare two 1256's vs one 1256 because people were asking if one of these would work and wanted to see the difference.

      Craig McClellan servos are running good for a few years now with mine, but my small revo had problems by breaking the t sharped servoarmsaver mount a few times, ive changed it into an alloy one, that worked out, bit the wheels of the e-revo 2.0 are bigger than the others, so it cant be beaten by just one servo as close the same as they are...

      Yo they really should love my 2.0 but at the beginning if not in it right away they will take a nice dump in your lap lol

    The real test is on the ground. I Ben using eco power 120. I just pick up these dual power hobby 729mbl. Way more power I will keep using my dual servo. My car more so fast now. I also have 5. 6 scales I will run the mega servo . Thanks powerhobby

    That servo is ridiculously overpriced. Ecopower 120t is $5 less and gives 330 at 6v and 400 at 7.4v
