I'm in tears, and being 70 now, these are actors and actresses that I adored as a child. If only Bob Hope was on this tribute, it would have made my day! Thank you for sharing this Tribute with us!
Paul Newman gave me a Budweiser at this event. (He was a favorite of mine, so I was pretty stoked!) Every famous American actor seemed to be there, from John Wayne to John Ritter. (John R was on the sitcom Three's Company -- he was loose and really funny.) What was I doing there?? Parking the cars of the stars! (...while in college.)

I enjoyed this much more than I thought I would. So many memories of fan worship when I was a kid and would thumb the pages of Rona Barrett's Hollywood magazine. Liz looked great in her Halston. Good mix of TV & movie celebs.
Right? It's kind of an interesting dichotomy: the actors of that era were true stars, with a kind of class and presence rarely seen today. Yet many of the shows and production numbers they were in, and the jokes/dialogue they were forced to utter, were almost laughably bad by current standards. Still makes for fun viewing though.
@@ericholck3914 Laughably bad by any standards, even those back then. These All Star Tributes, while not as truly awful as the Dean Martin roasts, were tacky, not remotely funny.
They all played their "public roles" so perfectly back then. Still fun to watch those old shows. But those people were always acting. Make no mistake, lol.
@@Apollo_Blaze If you watch today's politicians, you realize that good, believable acting isn't something everyone can do. It's an art, requires talent, and working at it.
Elizabeth is such a sweet and loving lady. Richard Burton told a story- he was being interviewed in their London hotel suite. The journalists tried to be subtle but they were looking for Elizabeth. He finally told them - she and 2 of the hotel doormen were in a nearby pub throwing darts.
So many I ons of the greatest movies of the most wonderful times to be alive. Again the opportunity to see the greatest stars along with a purpose with the most worthy cause today our children. Those at the times when times were hard for the children challenged. Today all our children are challenged with the ones Elizabeth Taylor stood up for when they could not do so. It was a joy to see all my heros who have helped to laugh cry and feel joy laugh and go forward with help like Elizabeth. Thank you.
I wonder if this was the beginning of Elizabeth's unhappiness that she described in her interviews. This is when she started to gain weight. She said she was miserable. This is when we didn't know much about celebs as we do now.
Yes, she became very depressed married with John Warner. I think it may have been a political move on his part. Anyway, I spent time with them in Washigton D. C. In the madhouse political arena when he was running for Senator. Ms. Taylor was so nice to me. Told me I had a beautiful voice and don't ever give up singing. Also, told me how treacherous the business is. She was so wonderful. She took me under her wing during this time. The luncheons the dinners, she insisted I sit by her. What a beautiful lady! Her eyes were that beautiful violet. 💜🌹

Monte Hall, you can’t say retarded any more. I muted Debbie Boone’s song, remember Johnny Carson making fun of her, the song was #1 on the charts way too long. I was in College year 1977, no money to go out so watched tv shows like this, at home.
