Hi Rachel. This is the first of your videos I have seen. It came out beautifully. I wanted to commend you on a few things. You took the time to show us the struggles you had with this piece, why you had them, and how to fix them. I admire that because it allows those of us who aspire to do furniture refinishing to know that 1. It’s ok to change plans 2. We all have to make “mistakes” so we know how to fix them 3. Patience 4. Remain Humble. I’ve been refinishing furniture for many years and always open to learning. I have not gotten on the spray train because I find it’s more complex than a brush. All this to say; so many influencers are not as kind in showing how, why and fix etc and gatekeep information. I appreciate your approach and want to recognize that to you so you know your content is educational as well as kind, and of course, beautiful!
Oh my goodness, what an incredibly kind and thoughtful comment! I really appreciate you taking the time to give such feedback. I try my best to be as transparent and helpful as I can without boring people.😅😂 I tend to love details but I know not everyone does. Then you add that each piece often seems to throw us a curveball of some sort, which I’m sure you know very well. Always something to learn. Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to encourage me. I really appreciate it!🩷
Beautiful! Love those creamy neutral tones on furniture. The primer battle - happens. These are fixable just time consuming. In the end, very worthwhile. Glad you persevered.
Thank you! I do, too. I love that they can go with most any style. So true! There always seems to be some battle with each project.😅 It’s where my stubbornness pays off.😂
This turned out great! I’m glad to know that I’m not the only one with struggles such as yours. South Alabama heat, humidity and rain usually throws me a curveball every time causing me to have to fix something.
Thanks, Andrea! And you are so welcome! I love learning and being able to share what I’ve learned along the way, mistakes and all. Also thankful from all that I’ve learned from you!🙌
Absolutely beautiful update on this one! I love that you kept the original hardware, so elegant. Oh and Accessible Beige has been my go-to lately! I refinished furniture for my daughter’s room in that color and it’s such a versatile warm neutral shade.
Thanks so much, Amy! The hardware was so beautiful and well made. It went perfect with the dresser.😍 I’m so glad to hear that you have been loving accessible beige. I love this one but with the price of Wise Owl, something from SW will be much more economical. Thanks!
I had the exact same thing happen with my paint sprayer last night lol. The dresser looks stunning! Beautiful work 💕 Also, thanks for the tip about placing tape on the back of the screws to keep them from blowing back
Oh no! That’s a bummer. I’m glad you figured it out at least.😅 That’s nice to hear the tape behind the screw was helpful. It’s hard to know the balance of what to include and not include sometimes. I don’t want y’all getting bored, but I also want to be as informative as possible.🩷 Thanks so much!!
Thanks, Lisa! It’s a really great neutral, and I love Wise Owl’s durability. I’ve thought about getting accessible beige or a color match to this in the gallery series to try it out bc I’ve heard such great things about that line at SW.
@ivylane-home I wondered if it might be. I just don’t have access to BM very close to me so I haven’t tried that one either. I think the closest store is 45 mins away. SW is less than 5 mins away which is so nice!
Glad you love the details, too. I was so sad about not getting to paint it the powder blue but there will be another project that will fit that color one day.😍
Hi. The piece came out very well. You really did a lot of work. I am not a perfectionist like you but I only paint furniture for myself. For some reason the picture on this video was not very clear. Wonder if anyone else had this issue.
Thank you, Michelle! I think it’s great that as long as you’re happy with the result, then that’s great. Since I know I’m selling it, I try to be as detailed as possible. I’m sorry the picture wasn’t clear. It’s been fine on my end, and I haven’t had others mention it.
I thought I must’ve missed where you explained using the foil, but I went back and watched again and didn’t see anything except where you removed it. Maybe in the next video you could give more information on that?
So sorry about that. It’s super fast around 6:47, but I don’t go into detail. The problem it helped resolve is that often when I spray with the drawers in I’ll still get overspray through the gaps of the drawer, which I’ll have to remove. I extended it around almost the whole side and top, and it worked really well. After I had edited the video, I did find a few places in a few other drawers where there was some minor overspray which I removed by wiping it down with acetone on a paper towel. I’ll be sure to show it in more detail on my next video with painting tho!🩷
@Restorations.by.Rachel a lot of people don't actually know about it, I've seen WAY too many videos of people sanding down lead paint and it freaks me out so bad for them. Almost all French provincial dressers with that melamine top is also lead paint. And all that gold banding on the edges of French provincial dressers on even the solid wood pieces are lead based.
@@undeadfurniturecounderstandably so. I try to be really careful with PPE but lead paint I know is no joke. Really appreciate you taking the time to share.🩷
I love you how you always share the fails and how you fix them! Turned out so good!
Thank you! 😊 I try to be as authentic as possible and plus it’s so helpful to learn from each other.🙌

Beautiful transformation. So glad you then found a matching nightstand! ❤
Thank you!! Isn’t that amazing?! I was so excited to have found it. It was at a great price, too.🙌

Thank you! It can be such a struggle managing the elements sometimes. My dream would be to have something at least somewhat climate controlled.
Looks so much better! Turned out beautiful! Great job! 😊❤
Thank you, Pam!! Appreciate you saying so.😊
This came out great! Thank you for sharing your mistakes because it helps everyone learn!!!
Thanks, Andrea! And you are so welcome! I love learning and being able to share what I’ve learned along the way, mistakes and all.

Another 10 stars outcome!!
Awe, thanks!😊

It turned out SO good! I love that color. I really want to try it sometime. I also love Accessible Beige, so that might be a good one to try too!

@ yes! I want to try Gallery too. I’ve heard it’s similar to Command by Ben Moore - which I love!

@ I have both, but my Sherwin Williams has a fabulous staff that are so helpful!
Wow! How pretty! Loved the video! I’m subscribing. ❤
Thank you, and thanks so much for subbing!
Love that you kept the little details! Makes it all the more special :) wish we could have seen the powder blue!
Glad you love the details, too. I was so sad about not getting to paint it the powder blue but there will be another project that will fit that color one day.😍

Just a little FYI, those factory painted pieces from that time era are almost always lead based paint. Please always test those before sanding
Thank you. I totally should’ve tested for that.🙈
