- Video number 4 on this rx8 build. Can you Bridgeport the exhaust and can the ports be made bigger? Will a standard rx8 spin 20 inch wheels ????? No it won’t ha ha #13b #bridgeport #rotary #rx8 #13bpp #renesis #rx7 #mazda
Another awesome video.. Learning as you're learning! Keep em coming my dude!
I like what you're doing here bro. Not afraid to give it a go! What abot J port intake and exhasut?
The midle plate renny exhast port sleeve might be a challenge.
That’s interesting . Yeah I will have a look into that
Im writing this and its my theory on why this is a bad idea (time will tell) obviously but as you said earlier in the video the temperature on the exhaust port is extremely hot on the 13b msp engine having a thin bridge is asking for warping or cracking of said bridge food for thought 💭 i am happy someone is doing it and documenting it on top of that so we can actually know
I agree with you and after reading some of the comments and hearing from someone who has done it. It’s not worth the drama. I have also been told that it’s possible to run a bridge port on the other side of the main port. That will involve removing the scraper seals which I’m also not that keen to do. I may just leave it as it is.
I know nothing bout rotaries but i can listen to you talk about it for ages lol
Ha ha I don’t know much either really.
Also, you have to remember every other rotary engine has pp exhaust right there. It's hot there anyway. I wouldn't imagine any extra heat or anything to crack the iron or warp it any more than normal wear.
Cheers brother for the plug, and hard, its been bugging me for years ahhaha after someone showed me one they started ahaha,, was thinkn if the bridgeport was done inside so the rota ran over it more rather than the cornerseals etc, but hard there is always away,to make anything happen, p.s i removed all tye abs setup in my rx8,, but just unplug all the stupid plugs, from back off the hubs, and em rear, brakes disconnect ,,but hard still gangsta, massive
Oh yeah man that’s the one remove the abs. That will work moving the bridge in. Cheers man you’re giving me heaps to think about.
Was it a major to remove all the abs. Want it gone so I can run a water tank in that area to spray the radiator while doing a burnout. Looks dumb also.
@@Madrxsevyea so opp to normally a bridge would sit ,if possible could be larger than normal, and hard il do a walk around to how i built my rx8 maybe tomorrow or on sunday,,
@@rotaholikzhds906 yeah man that would be awesome . Shot bro
@@Madrxseveasy asf bro,, il defo make a vid tomorrow while im getting it ready to go do some filming on sat,
just noticed i have a coolant leak on the rx8 .probably had it for awhile so hence its running average . no drama its coming out anyway ha ha
😂
The lower down u go the more the overlapping of in and ex ports, more the overlap less power you'll have in lower rpms, also considering the properties of cast iron at hi temps it'll likely to develop cracks later on especially if you got lots of overlapping of the ports, as they are already known for hi egts
Never done it before, but I say it's possible. Fill both rotor housings with High temp JB wild. At the exhaust port. And as far as the Bridge, you should be able to do it on all irons. Exactly the same as long as it has enough meat. And that is from experience.
Awesome sounds like a go
The exhaust gases will destroy the JB weld pretty quick... them you'll have a bridge coolant& exhaust port!
@@andynogo ha ha yeah it will. I have since moved away from that plan. You can bridge the other side of the port but you have to do some mods which I hear is removing the scraper. Not sure if I want to head down that road.
JB weld is stronger than you think. I have been building rotary engines for like 30 years. And I have used it in some crazy spots. Really hot spots of the engine. Anyways, that's why I said. Fill in the rotor housings. Just make sure you sand down the JB wild as flush as possible. And if I was doing it. I would fill in the exhaust port as well. And I would just Dremel right through the metal And The JB wild for my bridge.
best video you've made bro well done. 🎉.
Ha ha if the car did a sick c#%t burnout I would agree with you
@Madrxseven nar look at all thr comments bro and likes this video was on. The man.
The heat will kill the bridge . Can get away with it on the intake . You won't on the exaust , especially with a turbo .
Thought as much . Thanks for that appreciate it heaps
About to say the same thing. What apex seal are you runing in your brighport
@@carlhoffman7032 looking at running 2 piece power seals.
@@Madrxsev standard size rx8 seals bro
@@carlhoffman7032 yeah for now.
Another sick vid lad, love it.
Thanks heaps. I just need to do my research before hand. It’s looking like my traction control may have still been on….. next video I do I’m gonna make sure I can spin those wheels.
@@Madrxsev there should be a button to turn it off? my dad has a 04 rx8 atleast in his u can turn it off
@@brayt0n yeah mine has that also but have pulled the fuses so there shouldn’t be power to those. I need to get rid of it all. Not quite sure how yet ha ha
@@Madrxsev surely the DSC is related to a wheel sensor on the rear or tail shaft? unless the ecu controls it somehow?
@@brayt0n yeah I believe all the wheels have wheel sensors so if I was to unplug them all it should be good to go. Smugs is going to film his rx8 today I hope showing what he did . He has also removed the whole abs unit.
I love your content and delivery bro , i wish i was working bedside you
Cheers man appreciate it.
Very Under rated motors bro… learn the renisis and what other series parts work with them… could build a bullet proof motor from that
100% agree
84-85 gsl-se 13b or older 13b housings /// 86-99 13b housings with water jackets cut ...
Im loving this build video man ive already watched it like 4..🤔 this will be the 5th time i think haha😅😂 , im feining a oldschool pp exhaust engine cant afford it outright so been hunting out options to devcon the irons an change the housings-exhaust header on my spare engine, a fat bridge and pp intake housing with pp exhaust would be insane but the flange to make that work an lenth on the runners would seem extremely difficult to make letalone fit a stock setup lol people probably think thats crazy idear lol , i tossed up full pp intake an exhaust but man would it be hecktic do im guessing bridgeport stock intake and pp housings is where ill end up going with it 😅🤷♂️
Either one of those options would be awesome . But yeah running the bridgey intake with pp housings would go mean. Devcon up the renesis exhaust ports . You would need to machine out rotors for a full size 3mm apex as the exhaust port will destroy the small 2mm seals. But would be epic.
@Madrxseven thanks bro thats a rotor save right there i didnt know that about the seals so thats super handy info 🙏💪💚👊✌️
@@PH-x I think you may be able to machine down the rotors and run a 2 mm rx7 apex seal. They are deeper which I turn makes them stronger. I’m pretty sure anyway.
The bridge on the intake gets a bit thin at the bottom, that's why the template does not extend down.
Having said that lots of guys are cutting them the full length with no issues, iv just cut mine the full lenght
That makes a lot of sense. Thanks for that looks like I’m gonna cut mine the full length also. Appreciate you letting me know thanks
@Madrxseven are you notching the housings on all the bridges
@@markpowell8979 yep I will be . I’m going to use the housings that are in the engine bay now. I had spare irons that I have already ported. So will swap them over when I’m stacking engine.
@@Madrxsev 2 piece apex seal.?
Would like to see the housings, am worried the corner piece of the apex will catch
@@markpowell8979 what I was thinking was notching only the secondary port side of rotor housings and ensuring the smaller piece of apex seal is on the centre iron side on front and rear housing. I have done that before and it seemed to be fine.
good video loving the content.
Much appreciated
Maybe a hybrid would be the better option ,I think KLM racing is the name for the dud in the USA , which is having a go with them
Oh most definitely would be so cool. I am planning on putting one together to replace this engine later on down the road. I have started gathering parts for it already.
Its actually KMR (Kyle Mohan Racing)..He competes in Formula D and builds engines for MazdaTrix out in California..Pretty cool guy
Done one, habe to weld gallery .didn't make a difference being intake bridged.i reckon maybe leaving intakes and exhaust BP..otherwise it's a bust..devcon won't work
Awesome thanks for that. So shouldn’t extend the port down on centre iron?
Anyone done a hybrid Renesis in NZ .? Using the rx7 gsL housings ? End up with heaps of exhaust flow
I have heard of a few people heading down that path not sure how they are getting on. I was thinking about it but decided just to mick around with what I have.
An older dude I worked with took his rx8 to Rotomotion to get rebuilt this is a shop in Perth WA I'm a Kiwi , anyway they steered him in that direction gsl housings rx8 rotors etc but no porting as minimal gain they reckon for 6 port anway. I've got a 4 port rx8 engine that I'm going to swap into my e1800 van I definitely want it to be ported so all this info is very helpful. Cheers.
@@Madrxsev yeah it's good to see
Ive always loved the flow of the center Irons . Have you seen R.E.C from the usa CNC porting of the 6 port ?
No I haven’t I will go check it out

Pardon my ignorance im trying to learn something here what are we trying to achieve here? Is it for a lumpy idle. Sorry guys im new to this shiz
Pretty much just trying to make the area of exhaust port as big as possible to get rid of all exhaust gases faster . Water jackets restrict the area that can be ported. If it increases overlap with the intake ports than it will have a pulse in its idle
Were u gt your template bro iv gt a blowen renisis tht im wanting to brigeport tht engine keen to buy some templates
Ordered them through mazdatrix in the states. Took a couple of weeks to get them but they are meant to as
id recommend if your looking for more exhaust flow to build a hybrid engine use your rx8 irons with GSLSE 13b housings you will get 3 times the amount of exhaust flow but yes it will require you to make a new exhaust manifold . there are a few youtube videos of this combination being done
th-cam.com/video/2PrNhEOjz-s/w-d-xo.htmlsi=9UwipnRiF5OUSxTw
That is definitely the way to go. I have been looking into it a lot over the last few months. I have another set of irons ready to go just waiting for some rotor housings to become available and I plan to make that the end goal for this car.
G day M88888888 hello from Aus u sure that 8 has its track controll off ? Them 20z gota fry bro. Kangaroo
Will double check . I’m sure it was all unplugged. Gonna go ahead and rip all abs out and whatever goes with it. Oh yeah the 20s definitely have to fry
bro, little bit of water under the wheels to start it off man....😅😢
Ha ha got a little bit of water coming out the exhaust instead but not bothered about it at all . Gonna rebuild it anyway. Hope you boys have fun tuning this thing.
@@Madrxsev just don't paint over the maf alright 😂
@@thedynoboys2823 hopefully it won’t have a maf. Are you able to look into something that’s reasonably priced that will run this. I’m gonna run a gabbed plenum and intake runners. Ditching those actuators. So will be interesting
@@Madrxsev probably a maxxecu or cheap link like monsoon.
porting rx8 motors does nothing. only thing that increases power on rx8s is ecu tune with mazda edit.
