Skate is a great game series personally believe 2 has the best map and 3 has the best controls but they are all amazing even with all the flaws. Keep up the good work man your videos are top quality
I low key like how the terrain is so crappy in a lot of spots in this game, it makes it feel more real and like you shouldn’t even be skating here but you are anyway. Skate 2 I especially feel that in because Mongo Corp. is actively trying to stop people from skating in the city by putting up skate stops and such
I recently got myself a skateboard. I absolutely suck at skateboarding, but I'm growing to enjoy simply boarding down a small hill as if I'm sidewalk-surfing. That and I've been getting interested after obsessively playing "Thrasher Presents Skate and Destroy" and enjoying the skateboarding animation and references in episodes of "The Casagrandes" about Ronnie and her friend group. What can I say? I love the sport. Anyway, some people have told me to play "Skate 3". My response was, "I'll give all three games a shot eventually, they look sick."
Thanks for putting this video out, good work as usual! This game and Skate 2 will always have a special place in my heart. No matter how flawed some aspects of the games were, all in all they were great games and they hold up well even today. Had both for the Xbox360 and was playing them over summer vacation back in middle school, sitting down in front of the TV after going skating with friends and just grinding it out until late in the night. Just thinking about it makes me remember the smell of summer air in my room, the sounds of the sticks flicking, with the tv reflection glaring from the window. Time flies man…
I dumped 100s of hours into this game and the sequels. I think one of the most fun parts is just finding a sick feature and sessioning it for a while to nail a trick. Skate 2 is definitely the best in the series.
Dude, the Guitar Hero games?! I grew up with those and Rock Band and OH BOY do I ever have some opinions about them, mostly good but some bad too. I'd be incredibly curious to hear your thoughts on those
Im very excited to see how you feel about the next Skate games. I never played them, but Ive had a PS4 for years and never thought of trying the Skate series. I LOVED the original THPS, and of course love the HD remake of 1+2. I did play a bit of Skate It on Wii.
brrooo the game of skate over the trash can is a spppeeeed rn killllleeeerrrrr. dope vid also if i may im grateful for yo homie, thanks for being a homie for all these years heres to more fun times
Riders Republic. Even though ubisoft made it, it's more like Skate than Shaun White Skateboarding *edit* Shaun White Skateboarding also took a lot from skate
Great video, as always! I was only a year or two into skateboarding when this game came out, and to say I was excited for it would be putting it lightly. I remember lurking in the IGN forums talking about it, seeing the in-game preview pictures from it, and the Rob & Big episode where they went to Vancouver to play the game had me hyped. And then, I finally played the game, and it blew me away. The graphics, the controls, the soundtrack. It was def a moment in time. I always believed If the Tony Hawk games got me into skating, then EA Skate games kept me there. I agree with the issues you had playing this game, but I need to make one MINOR complaint: There wasn't enough real world footage to my liking. At least compared to the Tony Hawk series. I expected to see the pro skater trailers in the game, and they weren't there (at least as far as I knew when I played it). And the sponsor videos were only limited to board companies, which (I'll admit) does make sense since getting a board sponsor is one of the major goals of the game, but it still feels like the game could've used more videos for some reason. (At least it's more board videos than THUG). And by EA Skate 2, the real world footage is basically nonexistent. IDK, I guess I was spoiled by the amount of real world footage that Tony Hawk had given us, which lead me to kind of expect a little more real world footage than what we got here. I am grateful for the footage that we did get for it.
My favorite comment so far. Good story, good point 🍻 I'm always on the side of having more footage when they can swing it. So many amazing skateboarding clips out there.
Skate is a good game, but the sequels did improve a lot. I actually have a lot of memories with 3 because I played it with my brother. Catching up on a few of your videos, I've been busy with other things
Psyched about the foreshadowing about reviewing darkstalkers at the end! I grew up playing darkstalkers 3 on ps1 and just recently i got a sega saturn, vampire savior: lord of vampire (which is the same game just on the saturn and only released in japan), got myself a sony glasstron and as soon as my battery charger arrives in the mail I'm gonna be grinding some darkstalkers and joining a local tourney
Another game I haven't played, really want to do so someday 😂 funny how Skate started similar to THPS in that the 1st one was decently good but the sequels that followed took the series to the next level
I like how the soundtrack for all three main skate games really fit that time period for skate films with the indie cuts from the 2000s and the 80s and 70s more obscure classics. Reminds me of stuff like mindfield from alien workshop and baker 3. Skate 3 in particular really fits that vibe to me
It does for me, too. I'm still discovering songs on the soundtrack that appeared in a video part at some point. Dead Prez' "Hip-Hop?" Caswell Berry's "Bag Of Suck" Part. Rick James' "Give It To Me, Baby?" Rick Howard's "Virtual Reality" Part. Devo's "Gut Feeling?" Dennis Busenitz' "Seeing Double" Part. It's feels like a bit of a history lesson in skateboarding media.
I had been telling "noobs" this or another channel that didn't "get" the soundtrack. I tried to explain its fine to not LIKE the songs but they picked them perfectly in the sense they are featured in skate video parts. Which for a skate game might be a first and should be noted. Skate 3 has Del the funky which is cool cause his stuff has been featured in the Tony Hawk games.
I'm surprised Ali Boulala was left in this game as he had just recently accidentally killed a guy via drunk driving. I thought EA would have demanded he be cut
@@RedBerylFTW March 7th for the accident, 4 months in the coma with Skate releasing around two months later. Im guessing they just didn't have time to remove him for the release. I can't imagine them getting away with that these days with social media being what it is

best video game series of all time, all 3 installations are masterpieces in their own unique way and all have their individual charm

I hadn't thought about it that way, but that's a great perspective

I feel this. Just riding the board can be a great bit of fun
Good job getting comfortable on your board, most people want to skip that step
Been sooooo excited to see you cover this. Well worth the wait.

yeah the difficulty balancing, it flew out the window constantly lmao. Perfect example in the rob dyrdek challenge in this game
Great review, tried this for the first time a few weeks ago and gotta agree 🤘🤙 edit: Stoked for Pride FC🤘🤘🤘

Another banger video.
Would be cool to see you review the tiger woods PGA tour games that originally introduced the EA Flickit control scheme
I'm not huge on golf, but it's definitely worth checking out

I'm not sure what the timeline on that is, but I do know he was in a coma before he was charged so that might have something to do with it

I was just playing skate 3 and heard some random npc say you love the rainbow 🌈 😂😂😂 they be puttin hella random stuff in there
Is this an AI voice?
No lmao that's actually how I talk
*edit* I do cut a ton of breathing and empty space to shorten the video lengths
Camera angle and being so close was another negative for me. Glad they gave u options in the sequel
Far camera is so good
Session has the option of a fisheye lens which is 👌
Gonk for SOTY
