It was stated by the movie creators that Super Janemba is stronger than Hirudegarn. Hirudegarn was able to knock Mystic Gohan out. By that logic Super Janemba would be stronger than Super Buu.

I would say that Janemba is stronger than Super Buu because of a small moment that happened in the series. When Goku came back to earth and was fighting Super Buu w/ Gotenks (Buutenks), Gotenks defused inside of Buu, making Buu more Piccolo, thus dropping his power. When that happened, Goku made the comment that he doesn't need fusion to defeat Buu now. I don't remember Goku doing any training after he returned to Other World, so it's a safe assumption he'd be around the same power level he was when he fought Janemba. With Buu still more powerful than his base form due to Piccolo (hypothetically), and Goku stating that he doesn't need fusion anymore, whereas in the fight with Janemba, fusion was the best chance he had at victory, I'm still a little convinced that Janemba is indeed more powerful. Though you do raise some good points, I won't lie.

Keep in mind that Broly destroyed an entire quadrant, or 1/4th of the living universe. Where as buu was threatening the universe over thousands of years and isn't even straight up galaxy level. Then rusty ss2 Gohan beats an even stronger Broly. This basically confirms that movie characters are much stronger than their canon counterparts. I have more examples of this.

For me: I'd say Super Janemba is Stronger than Super Buu and here's my reasons: First off, "Fusion Reborn" looks likes it takes place in a timeline where Ultimate Gohan actually Kills Super Buu before absorbing Gotenks and Piccolo. Because both Goku and Vegeta are seen dead, Gohan is on earth with his Full Potential Unleashed by elder Kai, Goten and Trunks knows the Fusion dance, and The Dragon Balls are achieve (and somehow capable of granting 3 wishes :/ ) Therefore, Janemba might have appeared sometime after super Buu death. Secondly: Janemba Power is based on how much Evil energy he absorbs, like from every antagonist and their henchmen the Z-fighters fought and destroyed. So, Super Janemba Power could be equivalent to ever antagonist, henchmen and souls that were sent down to hell by King Yamma, and if that's right and if Janemba does appear after they fought and Kills Super Buu, its likely that Super Buu's Evil energy was added to Janemba Power could be far greater than Super Buu and possibly greater than the above equivalents. And Thirdly: even though SSj3 Goku managed to strike Super Janemba a few times, I feel that Goku might have gotten stronger between Buu death and Janemba arrival, plus when Janemba got hit he looked for stunned then hurt so Goku might not have been doing any real damage to Janemba where as against Any form of Buu SSj3 Goku did get Buu to acknowledge the pain but that's probably because of Buu squishy body. Anyways When Goku hit Buu you can see the marks but when he hit Janemba nothing. So there you have it, in my opinion Super Janemba is Stronger than Super Buu.
Janemba is leagues above super Buu. The man reality warped both heaven and hell which are stated in multiple guides that both heaven and hell are Universe sized. Janemba stomped a universe shaking ssj3 Goku. the thing is goku could only hit janemba in the beginning so he was just getting used to his body, now if you look at the beginnings of gemstones vs super buu they land a few hits in the beginning too the only difference is jenemba was fighting back and thus looked more irritated but his grin quickly came back.

The movie was actually going to be another saga but was cut short, the plot of the saga was later explored in a game, but the jist is that Janemba has the power to absorb not only evil but also those who are evil, in being able to absorb evil he can regenerate from literally nothing but when he absorbs someone that is evil he become immortal and can regenerate from nothing without anyone evil around to absorb energy from. This also include evil being with the ability to absorb others, Janemba will simply take them over from the inside. Super Buu is Evil and therefore Janemba will eventually take him over, on top of that Super Buu can't defeat Janemba because even if Super Buu were to defeat him Janemba would simply return from nothingness stronger than before while Super Buu would keep getting weaker and weaker.
Janemba's total power depends on just how much "Evil" energy fuses together. As far as the plot of "Fusion Reborn" goes, all of that evil concentrated into that unlucky ogre individual and mutated into Janemba. ^ This includes the evil present in the original Majin Buu (Kid Buu/Super Buu). Super Janemba, in my opinion, remains much more powerful than Super Buu.

Also, SSJ3 Goku > Super Boo because Kid Boo > Super Boo right? Well SSJ3 Goku did really well against Kid Boo, so I think he'd be better than Super Boo, and Super Janemba > SSJ3 Goku > Super Boo, so Janemba is stronger.

I agreed with you. Goku didn't even attempted to fight super buu because he knew it was pointless since super buu was still much stronger than goku and vegeta. While ssj3 goku was holding his own against super janemba until janemba starting his techniques on him and we all know ssj3 goku is slightly stronger than kid buu but since kid buu's durability is off the charts it took longer to bring him down. The way i see it super janemba is stronger than kid buu but kid buu has more durability and super buu is leagues above them.

Well, there will never be a realistic point in the series where buu will have gohan absorbed while fighting Janemba. Gohan was literally forced out of him. I'd be surprised if buu would have made it out alive in his kid form but not in his super form. There for Super Janemba is stronger

I know I'm late to the party but you also have to realize that the movie took a place after the buu saga (idk how long after the buu saga so depending on the period of time between the janemba movie and the buu saga is gonna decide weather my theory is right or wrong ) okay continuing if there was like an year or more between the janemba movie and he buu saga then wouldn't that mean that goku would be training that whole time ?which would only make goku stronger then he was in the buu saga so we really don't know how much strong goku has become , therefore there is no real way to figure out who is stronger at this point

the way janemba fights would make a difference. super buu doesnt really have any fighting skill. he just punches. gets hold of you or uses ki energy beams. When super buu fights anyone who is close to his strength he loses because he doesnt know how to handle them. thats why gotenks was beating super buu. therefore i would say janemba is stronger than super buu. If ssj1 gotenks is about as strong as ssj3 goku Then they both beat someone around that strength goku ssj3 got some hits off on janemba but they didnt really do anything. ssj gotenks was actually holding his own against super buu, though not as strong but he was doing well. seeing as his attacks were greatly damaging buu and for some he even countered super buu's attacks. That leads me to believe that super janemba assfucks super buu any day of the week.
I just want to say that we don't know Janemba's fully powered up form. He was still powering up against Gogeta ssj1 (or 2 still not sure) when he was defeated. He could still power up showing he wasn't at max which would also lead me to believe he was stronger than Gogeta. Gogeta just decided to finish him off quick due to the fact he was probably not sure how strong Janemba could actually be. I base this off of the fact that Goku loves fighting his opponents at their max level and he did not let Janemba go to his max ( we don't know if he even had another transformation). It could be Vegetas side showing through to end his enemy quickly though while having the upper hand. Put that together with Janemba having god like abilities like controlling the dbz universe and going into other dimensions made him over powered already. So by goku simply not letting Janemba go to his max makes me think he is way stronger than super Buuhan with gohan absorbed only because goku thought of him as too much of a threat as well by just killing him. He let super Buuhan go max and played with him but not Janemba. He was never Gogeta before this meeting with him so Goku would have loved to spar with Janemba but he did not. He wanted to spar with him when he first met him but decided not to after becoming Gogeta which doesn't make sense bcuz he would want to test his newly acquired power, right? That's why I say Janemba is the strongest ever, bcuz of two reasons: we don't know his true max power level and he has god like abilities without being a "god". By that I mean he was controlling the living and the dead but that was also bcuz the heaven mechanism was all messed up but somehow gave him the ability to control the universe. Which Goku was afraid of I think. Also he didn't hurt Gogeta at all but at the same time he still had the ability to power up which Gogeta did not let him so he is stronger than buy in my eyes. He toyed with super Buuhan but not Janemba? People say vegito ssj1 is equal to Gogeta ssj3 so if that is true why didn't Gogeta at least test his strength on a fully powered up Janemba? I'd say Janemba's abilities is what puts him above buu, his moves are not something Buu will be able to counter unless he absorbs piccolo or someone smart before fighting janemba. I highly doubt that Gotenks is stronger than Goku. To draw from the anime when the kids and goku take a bath in a tub, they end up fighting and the kids fuse into Gotenks, Goku seems to handle SSJ gotenks just fine with his own SSJ, quite comfortably too

Super Saiyan 3 Goku landed a few good hits on Super Janemba. Goku did everything in his power to actively avoid fighting Super Buu (absorptions or not). He made it abundantly clear that he doesn't stand a chance against Base Super Buu. Someone that can go Super Saiyan 3 wanted to resort to Fusion. This may seem arbitrary, but it speaks volumes.

Janemba can manipulate matter, which is what many say makes him almost undefeatable because he can create anything he can imagine. Here is why people say Janemba is the strongest dbz and yes even dbs character ever "Couldn't he create himself" is what I see time from time, here is why he can't his body is made up of evil energy (Haven't talked about him in a while not sure what energy it is but its something like that) which isn't matter meaning he can't create himself. This is a tough one.... it's so hard to say since we never *really* see a SSJ3 Goku fight Super Buu. All we have to go off of is the SSJ3 Gotenks theory.... But in truth, even though SSJ3 Goku is presumably not be strong enough to handle Super Buu, I do think it would be a mirror image of the Janemba fight. I think Goku would get some hits in, but ultimately would get decked... I feel like Super Buu may have more strength, but Janemba has more techniques. Honestly not sure who would win. Would be an awesome fight for sure!

No it doesn't. If Gogeta fought Buuhan and Vegetto fought Janemba they would've effortlessly defeated the Villains. You can't calculate Vegito and Gogeta if the only enemies they fought are similar in strength and still gets curbstomped.

However, I only thought that since I completely forgot that Goku ssj 3 managed a few hits on Janemba. That suggests that Janemba is obviously stronger than ssj 3 Goku, but isn't untouchable. So now I believe that Super Janemba is close to or equal to Super Buu.

you forgot the zenakai boost goku got from the buu saga, and if he did any training between then and fusion reborn. also that goku is an extremely skilled fighter, and we see from BOG that vegeta was able to hold his own for a small amount of time directly due to skill, so its harder to compare how gotenks did vs how goku did considering that gotenks is a vastly inferior fighter with vastly superior power
no they arent. goku got stronger when he got back to earth. a lot of scenarios are from zenkai boosts. they just arent the most effective way of getting power like they were during the saiyan saga

I'd say janemba can beat super buu, but not because of raw power, but due to his reality warping powers. Similar to how a super buff super saiyan like trunks was more powerful than cell in raw power, but was too slow, having no speed and not being able to defeat cell, even though he was more powerful. Janemba's ability to avoid almost any hit while being on par with ssj3 goku (I don't think he was that much stronger) makes him a prime candidate for beating super buu.

Well, i feel it also depends on the timeline too. Like. i always thought super janemba was sometime after kid buu was defeated by goku, meaning if goku was doing so well against kid buu and still lost to super janemba, then super buu base form would just be that much weaker then janemba (just my own thoughts on this)
I think Janemba cannot defeat Super Buu. The reason of why i said that is, Janemba beat Goku easily because of his sword. But, his sword can do nothing to Super Buu. Janemba can just wasting his time fighting Super Buu until he exhausted, or until he get absorbed

While Gohan was searching for the Potara, Goku had to hold off Buutenks in SSJ3 form, and it kind of worked, and again, this is BUUTENKS, Buu + Piccolo + Gotenks, and he was able to hold him off for a few minutes. Buu is however, almost immortal and is coupled with limitless energy and stamina. He’d eat janemba alive. The climatic battle with buu vs the small tussle with Janemba says it all. Buu is stronger.
I dont think its fair to put gotenks in the same bracket with goku to try and compare super buu and super janemba. gotenks was a clown that couldnt actually fight long enough to win because he was just silly. Plus theres no telling how much training goku has had as ssj3. Also theres no telling when goten and trunks first were able to use ssj3. And Goku has much more fighting experience. I am going to assume that Gogeta is around the strength of Vegito here. Vegito could have defeated Buuhan in an instant in the way that Gogeta defeated Super Janemba, but Gogeta was more serious. I will say, then, that Super Janemba is around Super Buu/ Buutenks level based on the fusions. Also, when Super Janemba fights Goku and Vegeta, I think that he is testing/ learning his abilities, as he is not exactly an intelligent being, and didn't seem to know that he could transform or do things like make a sword. I would say that Janemba is stronger than Super Buu because of a small moment that happened in the series. When Goku came back to earth and was fighting Super Buu w/ Gotenks (Buutenks), Gotenks defused inside of Buu, making Buu more Piccolo, thus dropping his power. When that happened, Goku made the comment that he doesn't need fusion to defeat Buu now. I don't remember Goku doing any training after he returned to Other World, so it's a safe assumption he'd be around the same power level he was when he fought Janemba. With Buu still more powerful than his base form due to Piccolo (hypothetically), and Goku stating that he doesn't need fusion anymore, whereas in the fight with Janemba, fusion was the best chance he had at victory, I'm still a little convinced that Janemba is indeed more powerful. Though you do raise some good points, I won't lie.

For me: I'd say Super Janemba is Stronger than Super Buu and here's my reasons:
First off, "Fusion Reborn" looks likes it takes place in a timeline where Ultimate Gohan actually Kills Super Buu before absorbing Gotenks and Piccolo. Because both Goku and Vegeta are seen dead, Gohan is on earth with his Full Potential Unleashed by elder Kai, Goten and Trunks knows the Fusion dance, and The Dragon Balls are achieve (and somehow capable of granting 3 wishes :/ ) Therefore, Janemba might have appeared sometime after super Buu death.
Secondly: Janemba Power is based on how much Evil energy he absorbs, like from every antagonist and their henchmen the Z-fighters fought and destroyed. So, Super Janemba Power could be equivalent to ever antagonist, henchmen and souls that were sent down to hell by King Yamma, and if that's right and if Janemba does appear after they fought and Kills Super Buu, its likely that Super Buu's Evil energy was added to Janemba Power could be far greater than Super Buu and possibly greater than the above equivalents.
And Thirdly: even though SSj3 Goku managed to strike Super Janemba a few times, I feel that Goku might have gotten stronger between Buu death and Janemba arrival, plus when Janemba got hit he looked for stunned then hurt so Goku might not have been doing any real damage to Janemba where as against Any form of Buu SSj3 Goku did get Buu to acknowledge the pain but that's probably because of Buu squishy body. Anyways When Goku hit Buu you can see the marks but when he hit Janemba nothing.
So there you have it, in my opinion Super Janemba is Stronger than Super Buu.

The movie was actually going to be another saga but was cut short, the plot of the saga was later explored in a game, but the jist is that Janemba has the power to absorb not only evil but also those who are evil, in being able to absorb evil he can regenerate from literally nothing but when he absorbs someone that is evil he become immortal and can regenerate from nothing without anyone evil around to absorb energy from. This also include evil being with the ability to absorb others, Janemba will simply take them over from the inside. Super Buu is Evil and therefore Janemba will eventually take him over, on top of that Super Buu can't defeat Janemba because even if Super Buu were to defeat him Janemba would simply return from nothingness stronger than before while Super Buu would keep getting weaker and weaker.
Janemba's total power depends on just how much "Evil" energy fuses together. As far as the plot of "Fusion Reborn" goes, all of that evil concentrated into that unlucky ogre individual and mutated into Janemba.

I agreed with you. Goku didn't even attempted to fight super buu because he knew it was pointless since super buu was still much stronger than goku and vegeta. While ssj3 goku was holding his own against super janemba until janemba starting his techniques on him and we all know ssj3 goku is slightly stronger than kid buu but since kid buu's durability is off the charts it took longer to bring him down. The way i see it super janemba is stronger than kid buu but kid buu has more durability and super buu is leagues above them.

Well, there will never be a realistic point in the series where buu will have gohan absorbed while fighting Janemba. Gohan was literally forced out of him. I'd be surprised if buu would have made it out alive in his kid form but not in his super form. There for Super Janemba is stronger

I know I'm late to the party but you also have to realize that the movie took a place after the buu saga (idk how long after the buu saga so depending on the period of time between the janemba movie and the buu saga is gonna decide weather my theory is right or wrong ) okay continuing if there was like an year or more between the janemba movie and he buu saga then wouldn't that mean that goku would be training that whole time ?which would only make goku stronger then he was in the buu saga so we really don't know how much strong goku has become , therefore there is no real way to figure out who is stronger at this point

ssj gotenks was actually holding his own against super buu, though not as strong but he was doing well. seeing as his attacks were greatly damaging buu and for some he even countered super buu's attacks.

I just want to say that we don't know Janemba's fully powered up form. He was still powering up against Gogeta ssj1 (or 2 still not sure) when he was defeated. He could still power up showing he wasn't at max which would also lead me to believe he was stronger than Gogeta. Gogeta just decided to finish him off quick due to the fact he was probably not sure how strong Janemba could actually be. I base this off of the fact that Goku loves fighting his opponents at their max level and he did not let Janemba go to his max ( we don't know if he even had another transformation). It could be Vegetas side showing through to end his enemy quickly though while having the upper hand. Put that together with Janemba having god like abilities like controlling the dbz universe and going into other dimensions made him over powered already. So by goku simply not letting Janemba go to his max makes me think he is way stronger than super Buuhan with gohan absorbed only because goku thought of him as too much of a threat as well by just killing him. He let super Buuhan go max and played with him but not Janemba. He was never Gogeta before this meeting with him so Goku would have loved to spar with Janemba but he did not. He wanted to spar with him when he first met him but decided not to after becoming Gogeta which doesn't make sense bcuz he would want to test his newly acquired power, right? That's why I say Janemba is the strongest ever, bcuz of two reasons: we don't know his true max power level and he has god like abilities without being a "god". By that I mean he was controlling the living and the dead but that was also bcuz the heaven mechanism was all messed up but somehow gave him the ability to control the universe. Which Goku was afraid of I think. Also he didn't hurt Gogeta at all but at the same time he still had the ability to power up which Gogeta did not let him so he is stronger than buy in my eyes. He toyed with super Buuhan but not Janemba? People say vegito ssj1 is equal to Gogeta ssj3 so if that is true why didn't Gogeta at least test his strength on a fully powered up Janemba? I think he didn't want him at his max bcuz he thought Janemba was stronger than Gogeta even as a ssj3 so he stopped him early on. That's what I think.

I'd say Janemba's abilities is what puts him above buu, his moves are not something Buu will be able to counter unless he absorbs piccolo or someone smart before fighting janemba. I highly doubt that Gotenks is stronger than Goku. To draw from the anime when the kids and goku take a bath in a tub, they end up fighting and the kids fuse into Gotenks, Goku seems to handle SSJ gotenks just fine with his own SSJ, quite comfortably too

This is a tough one.... it's so hard to say since we never *really* see a SSJ3 Goku fight Super Buu. All we have to go off of is the SSJ3 Gotenks theory....

you forgot the zenakai boost goku got from the buu saga, and if he did any training between then and fusion reborn. also that goku is an extremely skilled fighter, and we see from BOG that vegeta was able to hold his own for a small amount of time directly due to skill, so its harder to compare how gotenks did vs how goku did considering that gotenks is a vastly inferior fighter with vastly superior power
no they arent. goku got stronger when he got back to earth. a lot of scenarios are from zenkai boosts. they just arent the most effective way of getting power like they were during the saiyan saga
they are very relevant. why would they just degrade like that? they serve the same purpose but we dont get to see the effect because they tend to happen after a big battle or during training now, unlike where goku/vegeta/gohan were getting their asses handed to them during the frieza saga

I'd say janemba can beat super buu, but not because of raw power, but due to his reality warping powers. Similar to how a super buff super saiyan like trunks was more powerful than cell in raw power, but was too slow, having no speed and not being able to defeat cell, even though he was more powerful. Janemba's ability to avoid almost any hit while being on par with ssj3 goku (I don't think he was that much stronger) makes him a prime candidate for beating super buu.

Like. i always thought super janemba was sometime after kid buu was defeated by goku, meaning if goku was doing so well against kid buu and still lost to super janemba, then super buu base form would just be that much weaker then janemba (just my own thoughts on this)
I think Janemba cannot defeat Super Buu. The reason of why i said that is, Janemba beat Goku easily because of his sword. But, his sword can do nothing to Super Buu. Janemba can just wasting his time fighting Super Buu until he exhausted, or until he get absorbed

I really think Janemba is stronger than Super Buu, but not after absorbing Gotenks. While Gohan was searching for the Potara, Goku had to hold off Buutenks in SSJ3 form, and it kind of worked, and again, this is BUUTENKS, Buu + Piccolo + Gotenks, and he was able to hold him off for a few minutes. I think that's enough proof honestly.

Buu is however, almost immortal and is coupled with limitless energy and stamina. He’d eat janemba alive. The climatic battle with buu vs the small tussle with Janemba says it all. Buu is stronger.
I dont think its fair to put gotenks in the same bracket with goku to try and compare super buu and super janemba. gotenks was a clown that couldnt actually fight long enough to win because he was just silly. Plus theres no telling how much training goku has had as ssj3. Also theres no telling when goten and trunks first were able to use ssj3. And Goku has much more fighting experience. I also dont see how gotenks and gogeta are even comparable considering that goten and trunks are significantly weaker than goku and vegeta so obviously their fusion is weaker. Probably even as ssj3.

Janemba was pretty confidently beating ssj3 goku, kid buu and goku were pretty evenly matched, and kid buu was supposed to be buu's true form, stronger than super buu. sure janemba isn't nearly as tanky as buu, nor does he have the regeneration feats. but he is a very confusing fighter. also this is supposed to be a goku who survived a fight with majin buu, this means he had a pretty decent zenkai boost after the buu saga, coupled with maybe more training
