- ET's Deidre Behar spoke with 'When Calls the Heart' stars Erin Krakow, Chris McNally and Kevin McGarry about the shocking season 7 cliffhanger, where viewers were relieved to ultimately find Mountie Nathan Grant alive after a gunshot was fired. The actors opened up about the intense final scene, where Elizabeth embraced Nathan as Lucas watched with sadness in his eyes. Of course, they also discussed the most romantic moments of the finale, including Nathan finally asking Elizabeth out and the candle-lit date Lucas planned in the library. Plus, Krakow, McNally and McGarry also shared their excitement about returning to 'When Calls the Heart' for season 8, coming to Hallmark Channel in 2021.

I completely agree! I saw an interview with Erin Krakow, Kevin McGarry, and Chris McNally and the interviewer said “Why only 10 episodes? If you had more in the script, would you be willing to do more than 10 episodes?” They all said definitely! Erin said the fans just need to push it so we can make it happen! 😬
When she came on and says we have decided to do season 8 see you next year I was like what damn a year ugh

Yep. I agree. Especially because Jack was killed off a couple of episodes after the wedding. We never really got to see their relationship flourish as a married couple. I want her to decide in the "first" episode of season 8 and use the Christmas episode to end (for lack of better terms) it with Lucas or Nathan. That way a new potential love interest can be introduced for the one that Elizabeth doesn't pick. Now I think Fiona staying could be a good one for Lucas. I'm team Nathan, but at this point they need to just pick. It's been back and forth for 2 seasons now. It's time to move on from the love triangle.
Totally agree with you. She is the only one whose love interest takes over 2 seasons to flourish. Everyone else’s is shorter. I’m getting tired of it

Hate to say this,but Elizabeths character it’s starting to portray her as a tease. This love triangle is getting tiring and if not decided soon they might jump the shark. Elizabeth just needs to move on.
Whats sad is I think they were begging Jack to stay because he had been iffy for several seasons and I think they thought its either now or never.
I really don't feel any electricity between Lucas and Elibabeth, but there are definitely sparks between Nathan and Elizabeth. Hope it goes their way
-Please give us 10+ shows next season.
-Let Lee and Rosemary finally have a chance at parenthood.
-Don't get rid of Henry. Recast Abigail and give them the love story they deserve.
-Let Faith and Dr. Shepard get married and they run the infirmary together.
-Let Fiona run her own phone company with help from Molly and Florence. And give her and Kevin a chance to court.
-Show the newly married Flynns and the struggles and joys of first year marriage.
-Please give Bill a love interest again. He is the papa of all the gals and guys. He deserves love too.
-Give Ned a little more screen time as the town grocer. He is a likeable secondary character. Maybe even some competition for him and the mercantile.
-For all that is good, get the town a mayor so Bill isn't so tied up all the time with the cafe and judge duties.
-And please don't carry out this love triangle for too much longer. It's loosing steam and becoming too drawn out. Whichever Elizabeth picks, make sure he will be a great step dad to baby Jack. And whoever is not picked, let the terms of the "Let down" be kind. No hard feelings. And bring in a new love interest for the one that Elizabeth doesn't pick.

Yes get Lori back...we miss her tremendously. And find a way to bring JACK BACK! Give them the life. they deserve! We all miss that connection and bond! They were the main reason the show pulled me in to watch it....not saying the actors aren't great, they are! But, Elizabeth and Jack showed and taught us so much in life and lessons...my heart was touched and it brought good thoughts and feelings to me..
After Jack died, I wasn’t going to watch it again...I couldn’t imagine Elizabeth with anyone else until Nathan...I can see why she would be afraid to go there but I think they need each other. They are both parents and they make sense!!

This is such an awesome show! We can have this playing on TV and don't have to worry about bad words or inappropriate scenes! That's the making of a good show! The entire family can watch and enjoy! This season was great! In our home, we are torn whether Elizabeth will date Lucas or Nathan...lol Love the spinoff show too! In my opinion, one of the best shows on TV right now along with When Hope Calls! HGTV, Disney, and Hallmark stay on in our home..lol! I also agree, let's add more episodes to make the season last longer! Lucas is a smooth operator who I wish I could be like when it comes to the ladies, but I feel like I am more like Nathan's character when it comes to dating! Teach me your ways Lucas! Lol Can't wait for the next movie and season! The only problem I have is now we have to wait so long! We need more!😁

I love both Lucas and Nathan! I don’t know what it is about Lucas, but I really want Elizabeth and Lucas to end up together. My top three reasons: 1. Chris and Erin’s amazing chemistry. 2. I like that he’s not a Mountie. (No offense cause I love Nathan but I see him a little like a knockoff Jack) I like that Lucas is different from Jack. 3. The dinner scene! Anyways while I love Team Lucas, I have a feeling that WCTH is leaning Team Nathan. I am trying to not get my hopes up.

my thoughts exactly! i feel like Elizabeth and Lucas have a friendly relationship they just dont have romantic chemistry while her and Nathan certainly do. I think that if she does choose Nathan it would be really interesting to see Elizabeth struggle with a lot more anxiety about his job and loosing him too. I think that would be a huge final step in Elizabeth moving on from loosing Jack and accepting that she could very well have to go through that grief again but still chooses and pursues a relationship with him because of her feelings towards him.

The writers have tried to make it seem like Fiona and Kevin will be a thing. They are clearly into each other.

Lucas' character is the only one putting-himself "out there" . Elizabeth is too afraid, because He is so different from her late husband. But that doesn't make him the wrong choice. She needs different, someone to compliment her and yet challenge her as well.

I think people are looking at this the wrong way. Jack was Elizabeth true love. When he died her heart died with him. Lucas and her might come from the same back round and would he the ideal couple. But on the other hand everyone is saying Nathan is boring. I think Nathan isn't boring at all, I think he didn't want to fall in love with Elizabeth because him as a mountie, knows exactly what Elizabeth went through with Jack. But Elizabeth could have been with anyone but she choose Jack because she fell in love with their differences. Even though Lucas seems to be the perfect guy for her, I still feel that Nathan is actually the person she needs to get over Jack. He may be boring to some of you, But if you actually watch him, He actually is doing the same thing Jack did to win Elizabeth heart. #teamNathan

I love When calls the Heart...I think Elizabeth and Nathan should get together...Kevin plays that part of Nathan so well...Lucus may want Elizabeth however I can see in Nathan's face just how much he adores Elizabeth and that he would cherish and love her til eternity...Nathan as of yet may not be the romantic that Lucus is but that's only because he's not sure how Elizabeth feels...There is so much tension and connection between the two of them...I'm so excited for season 8...
I'm a "Team Nathan" fan also. I just hope that in Season 8, Elizabeth doesn't try and overthink her Season 7 final reaction to hugging Nathan...flashbacks of Jack returning ok and seeing that red serge again. She fell in love with the traits that made Jack the Mountie he was...and Nathan must have many of those same traits. Yes, he needs to light a few candles also and show a bit more romance within, but I'm hoping we see this and more in Season 8.

I personally think Fiona is better for Lucas; she's more bubbly and as intelligent as Elizabeth. I love the Nathan/Elizabeth combination. Lucas has been too pushy, too in her face. Everytime she turned around Lucas is there saying he did something with her material without asking her permission. NO, Lucas is NOT Elizabeth's type.

I think if Elizabeth picks Nathan it's too much like the storyline with Jack. I really don't feel she waited long enough to move on. I really like Elizabeth with Lucas because there is more excitement, fun and adventure. Nathan to me is boring. The shooting in the last episode with Nathan was way off, when the lady had the gun on Nathan and shot and he wasn't the one shot. crazy.

I also hope that when all is said and done...that Hallmark would show the same compassion and forgiveness that was shown to Henry Gowen, towards Lori Loughlin, and bring back our beloved Abigail. Everything I've read/heard confirms still what a good heart she has and kind person she is. We all want the best for our children and have made mistakes in that area. I'm sure she has learned from hers...and more forgiveness/grace is needed in this world now.
Henry Gowen is a character, a fiction....but Lori Loughlin, made a crime in real life. Hallmark Company has a code, and will not broke it.

I think she has paid in many ways for her mistake and I am hoping they bring her back. We all make mistakes and I hope she is forgiven and given the chance we all deserve a second chance.

@@reflections.with.rhonda9269 Under normal circumstances they usually have a Christmas movie as episode one of the next season. Then they begin full on with the next season normally at the end of February. However they normally start filming around June or early July. So we don't know...it depends on when they can start filming. They haven't started filming season 8 yet. I hope it doesn't get delayed. They have not filmed any Hallmark movies since the virus stay-at-home mandate began. It will be interesting to see how the fall and winter goes.

Sooo...I’ve been team Lucas this ENTIRE season. Till this episode. I don’t like how he is treating Henry, something doesn’t set right. He isn’t being a hundred percent with Elizabeth when telling her what’s going on between them. I think Henry is too important of a character to just leave. I still like Lucas but something seems really shady about him in this episode. Also, it was a sweet ending with Nathan. Also, I wonder if Fiona will help with the petroleum business somehow. She’s out of a job and Lucas knows nothing about oil. Fiona seems like a woman of many trades...maybe she will be able to help...
Lucas is being a good business man. It's not at good idea to keep throwing money at a business that's not turning a profit. And it's none of Elizabeth's business. Why does she feel the need to stick her nose in everybody's business? It's so annoying. And Henry has not been relevant since the first season. They need to beef up his character or get rid of him, same with Bill. They are not utilizing those great characters/actors.
I think Lucas did right by Gowen. He tried to work out a solution that made sense and was for the good of the town. Gowen's pride got in the way - that's why his solution was something that only benefited himself. Once again, I'm not too big on Henry.

I just like how Gowen has seemed to become a better person.

Agreed! I mean, I understand the original series was supposed to be about a teacher and a Mountie, but that ship sailed when they killed Jack. So, for me, no more mounties. I thought the same thing "what if Kevin outgrows the show too?" It's just too much. I feel like Lucas' character has more dimensions to it than Nathan's. Elizabeth can smooth out Lucas' rough edges like Clara did Jessie. And just because Lucas is a saloon owner doesn't mean it has to stay that way. He has the oil biz now so if he and Lizzie get together, just have him sell the saloon to someone else. Plus, for me, the chemistry is between Lucas and Lizzie. Do you see how he looks at her 😍 Their interactions are so much more interesting. And I hate they made me spend season 6 and 7 falling for them two only for her to end up with Nathan 🙄
Team Lucas, I hated the ending. Nathan is like a c version of Jack. plus she already did the mounty.
I loved how this season ended. I can't wait for season 8. Hopefully there will be a WCTH Christmas movie.
The hole hug scene felt more to me that it wasn't about Nathan but more about Jack. To me, it felt like Elizabeth was tossed back into some sort of flashback, and reacted through some kind of instinct that was still thinking about Jack.
E I agree! I believe receiving the news that “someone” got shot totally took Elizabeth back to when she heard about Jack’s death. This is why she hugged Nathan so tightly...with relief, not necessarily love. I am also wondering if this might influence her decision in the future...like “I can’t go through this again...losing another Mountie that I love...it’s too painful.” This might lead her more towards Lucas. BUT...I AM a “Team Lucas” gal, so I might be a tad bit bias! Lol
I'M TEAM LUCAS ALL THE WAY!! Most of Elizabeth and Nathan's conversations have been geared around Allie. I just don't feel the connection. Plus why did they make me spend ALL season 6 and 7 falling for Lucas and Lizzie only to give her to Nathan?? 😭😭😭
Idk, there are sooo many great scenes with Lucas and Lizzie 😍 At this point it just seems like they're putting Lizzie with Nathan just for the sake that he's a mountie 😕 #teamlucas

I should say I am really not a fan of this love triangle from the very beginning, and the situation seems a bit ought to me. Whatever sweet and kind-hearted Lucas is, I've always felt like he somehow does not belong neither to Hope Valley nor with Elizabeth. His interraction with her seems really forced and a little "too much". He is pushing her "too much" sometimes, he is doing some things behind her back (whatever good his intentions are) - again, "too much". And Elizabeth is not the person who likes to be controlled. So, a day will come then even if Lucas apologizes (as always) it won't be enough to get her friendly attitude towards him back. Re Nathan - I am sorry Team Nathan, but I'm afraid that hug was just an uncontrolled reaction to the events. Remember how she was waiting for Jack to come home and he did not; so when she turned and saw Nathan, unharmed and standing right in front of her, it just all came back to her. She felt pain as well as relief when she realized he was ok. So despite everything that was going on, I suppose it would take a good amount of time for Nathan to win her if he really wants it 😊. In conclusion, I should say I've got a feeling the production team has not decided yet who would really win Elizabeth's heart. I am a bit disappointed, as it seems Elisabeth's screen time was waisted for nothing a bit, but it is what it is now. We can just wait for season 8 and hope it will be more conclusive.
I think Lucas is the right man for Elizabeth - he's worldly, charming, sensitive, riské & rich !! Nathan is more of a solid person but might lead to a boring home life ....plus not sure Elizabeth should risk another Mounty .... what if Nathan gets killed in action......no .... I would go with Lucas

I just love Elizabeth with Nathan... Can't wait for them to sing a duet together and then have a lovely kiss after doing so sitting near a small fire on a camping trip or on the steps of the school by themselves with his niece hiding behind a bush grinning from ear to ear. So, romantic. I think Fiona would make a great fit for Lucas too

Wow this would be such a great scene. Im glad you also noticed Fiona and Lucas would be good together. I think they have chemistry. Elizabeth and Nathan have a great chemistry indeed! I find it cute during the sleepover scene. I wish they have filmed more of that scene this way viewers get to see more of Nathan's loveable side.
I like the idea of Lucas and Fiona too. I felt something between them when they first met. Fiona and Kevin are just 2 characters on the screen. There's nothing magic between them.
I’m sure all of us Hearties certainly want more episodes per season! Hallmark knows how many fans love the show, so they must know that we are all wanting more...Pleeze!!
And write the show to bring Jack back! Give Elizabeth and Jack a chance to have a wonderful life and touch our hearts the way they cause us to with the connection those 2 have!

@@butterflyforeve that saddens me too! I loved seeing Lori in this series and my daughter and I miss deeply her on Mystery movies, we couldn't wait til they came on. That was our mother /daughter bonding time! We even watched them several times because she is an awesome actor..I wish Hallmark could live by"forgiveness" and 2nd chances! Everyone deserves a 2nd chance and everyone deserves to be forgiven! It is a shame such a talented person not be allowed to do what she is great at and people could enjoy her ork..
LOVED, LOVED, LOVED that “date” scene with Lucas (I personally would have kissed him! 🥰), but that scene with Nathan was so heart-wrenching! On a different note... I’m a big Chris McNally fan, but I’ve gotta say that Kevin McGarry looked so HOT in this interview!!! 🥵🤪🤗
Regardless of who Elizabeth chooses, just choose already! There are so many other storylines that are worth some attention.

Please give us more shows a season! It goes by too quickly and let Kevin and Erin get together and let Chris fall for Fiona!!! Let Kavin and Pascale adopt someone from the orphanage. This is a great show and the cast if fabulous! Please do not let anything happen to any of them. Keep bringing them back! Love the show!!!
