There are lots of mixed opinions about stocks and there projection in the next coming years, I aim for short term solid gains from market correction and I'd definitely jump on the boat if I knew a thing or two about day-trading, but then again what do I really know? The percentage weighting of each asset class as part of your portfolio will then be up to you to decide. At least with stocks, when the market is plunging, you can sell, albeit at a loss. This is PR. Private equity sinks the target company into debt, using the money to pay themselves, and plunders all company assets, including pension funds, again to pay themselves, hence the term 'vulture fund'. Once in awhile they do turn a company around, like Bain did with Staples, but that is a rare exception, not the rule.

Private equity destroyed many establishes British high street shops. It seems a parasitic way of doing business. Staff end up getting sacked which tax payers need to pay benefits to. The business might be left with unpaid debt that others then have to deal with when the private equity vultures have left. The business is then left bankrupt.
