- Los Angeles residents dodged a bullet, facing minimal damage after Tropical Storm Hilary hammered the region on Sunday. But other parts of Southern California have big messes to clean up.

My phone alerted me that there would be an earthquake and I will feel some shaking. Seconds later, (maybe 5-10 secs) I did. And I didn't freak out as I normally would.

I live in Indio (Palm Springs area/Coachella Valley), we got a good bit of rain over here. But the thing to keep in mind is that all of that rain water has to go somewhere, so it flows like a stream until it finds a place where it can settle and collect. It may not look crazy from our house, but it eventually turns into flooding if there's enough rain.

Ps the ground is dry and rock hard so no easy saturation , that is what causes flash flooding!
@@redrumredrum3658 I was making the obvious point because there are people in the comments of these videos saying that the rain was not bad enough to cause the flooding shown in the clips, but this storm definitely wasn't anything we haven't already seen here. We rarely get rain here and the ground is dry af, that's why we always end up with flooding even in mild storms.

I live a little less than 20 miles from the epicenter and it felt like the big one with the first jolt! But then I calmed down a bit when the shaking didn't increase after maybe 5 seconds.
