Fair play for being a solid performing bike! But unfortunately, that rear swing arm and linkage design is simply ugly. There's no reason to ride an ugly bike, when there are super performing bikes out there, that look amazing. Cheers.
It’s an interesting looking bike to say the least. Definitely separating Marin from a lot of other brands, and it’s good to hear they’ve refined and ironed out many of the issues found in the first iteration of the system.
I'm a huge fan of my Wolf Ridge. I have compared to 3 highly rated bikes in the last year and both Strava times and my perception agree that the Wolf Ridge is awesome. The Mount Vision has me curious about 27.5" wheels for the first time since I spent a brief 6 weeks on 27.5 when they first started gaining popularity (I'm a taller 29er lover - tried 27.5 wheels - yearned to be back on big wheels - probably 5 years ago). I fell in love with my Wolf Ridge's looks after I started to realize how well it performed - the Mount Vision looks dead sexy to me!
For real im waiting for mine, being pretty curious how it looks live, i dont even dislike it on pictures tho. And like you say function over looks! I can't stand those linkage forks tho, they are damn ugly
I don't like the fact a mudguard effects frame warranty , can see that putting people off and for 6500 you could a canyon shapeshifter for half the price with a carbon frame and have enough to spec better
Yeah, Alex was very impressed with the bike, so hopefully the Mount Vision will far much better than the Wolf Ridge. Do you think you buy a Mount Vision if you had the money?
@@damienbradley9209 Trust is going to have to get the travel and price issues sorted first. I don't care if it makes me walk on water, I'm not paying the price of a full MTB, for a fork!
@@bikeradar need to demo first, but I definitely prefer this design over the Wolf Ridge. Just bought a 5010 over the Rift Zone 3 and FuelEx. The size, feel, and agility are very important to me. Also the 5010 had two mounts to allow me to add more storage
While it definitely looks polarising (I don't exactly love it either, but looks are subjective), the price does match the specs. Just because most Marin's are cheaper, what else should be expected from a bike with premium Fox suspension, Sram X01 drivetrain and Shimano XT brakes. You wouldn't expect a Specialised or Santa Cruz to cost less than £6K with that spec, so why should the Marin?
@@Meow-In-Trouble-Now True, but it's not necessarily their fault that no one is willing to spend premium money on a Marin. It happens to almost every lower end brand that tries to market a premium product, regardless of the industry.
@@gpearce11 polygon had the same problem selling this concept due to cost, looks, weight and maintenance issues as well as lots if warranty claims, I'm all for innovation when done right
Having to run a vendor designed mudguard all year round to maintain a warranty should be a massive red flag to anyone, and a bleed nipple to equalise the atmospheric pressure, what does that even mean to the average rider, personally I've never even liked bikes with flip-chips never mind considering atmospheric pressure! Aesthetically not a nice looking bike at all, in my opinion, that pivot looks like an upside-down water bottle, I know that is all trivial but in a very fashion-conscious industry surely a bike has to be pleasing on the eye too.
it means that you press a little button to make sure the pressure inside the tube is the same as outside. Pretty easy stuff. Why is the mudguard a worry, they want to keep mud out the bushings presumably
Hugo Gardner For the release value it’s just more faff, complexity for the sake of complexity that’s all, you get the same or similar ride properties from other suspension designs without the need for such valves. The requirement for a constant mudguard leads me to believe there’s an inherent weakness in the design and they’re worried about mud ingress, again I can’t of another manufacturer that requires that, and what value is it adding that means all this faff is justified. Just my observations.
Rear swing arm is sweet looking. Love big beefie looking swing arms . All the long links make it look like it would be flexy. Guess it is not . If the suspension works great that’s what counts . Can’t see how pretty it is underneath you. How it feels and works makes it look beautiful in the minds eye
Great review. Pronounced Muh-RINN' with the emphasis on the 2nd syllable & named after *Marin County* where they claim Mountain Biking began - though some Coloradans might want to get white knuckled over that - lol

#RideGG. Bike, shock, mid level I9 enduro S wheels, new tires, carbon bars/stem for under $3k all in. This Marin linkage looks like it’s prone to becoming a surfire PITA long term and hurt it’s resale. Especially given the success of the Infiniti switch from yeti. That was a disaster for many model years. Sorry Marin :-/ you can’t communicate the greatness of it simply enough through riders to be convincing. It’s not even enduro race oriented, it probably should have been built around XC given the value prop but suppose you can’t compete on weight yet. And it’s priced a bit out of the average brosumers reach
What does everyone think to Marin's new Mount Vision 9? Is it the type of bike you'd like to ride, or does the suspension design just look too wacky?
But more importantly, why did you heart your own comment?
looks really good and it seems to perform really well. Could a 170mm fork improve it or hinder it?
