You know. This is what Call of Duty's WW2 series was missing before in their campaigns. The beginning of this was showing how intense and chaotic battles can be. In COD it mostly just showed linear story and gameplay. They missed the opportunity to show a how isn't all about killing, but more about surviving.
The bright, wacky paint on the field guns is called Dazzle Camoflauge. It was used a lot in WWI, primarily on ships, and the idea was that the bright colors would confuse anyone looking at it, making it difficult to gauge size and speed. It's effectiveness was debatable.
The balloon Ryan was looking at was a barrage balloon, or spy balloon. It was either ment to be hit by a dropping bomb or keep an eye on the movement of enemy troops. As a world war 1 buff, watching all of this is a little painful xD but i still love it.
You would think that Geoff would have any idea about the function of a suppressor. It really doesn't (I'm especially sure in the earlier stages) lessen the amount of noise produced by the weapon much. It just distorts it significantly so that it causes a much different noise.
I hope they do realize that silencers on guns aren't as silent as they are portrayed in movies they are still super loud. I mean you cant muffle an Explosion cause thats whats happening.
WW1 did have Sticky Grenades, but you had to run up to the tank an place it on the side before arming it. But, many soldiers tried throwing the grenades, the adhesive didn't let it go too far from their hand and well you can guess what happened next.
You can actually steal that tank if you kill the guard next to it... but then of course this is Ryan, the not-as-stealthy soldier so telling him that would be pointless

I understand having an interactive story, but the pigeon/dove section was too much... Seriously though, aside from that it's nice to see a serious and (for an FPS) respectful representation of World War 1. Having each character death carry a name and date of birth really does make it feel like your actions have consequences, which I honestly wasn't expecting from "Battlefield except in the First World War". I really hope to see the rest of this campaign video if only to see Ryan charge a team of soldiers with an anti-tank weapon and grenade launcher.
