    You don’t have to pick them you just squeeze them into a jar and they will refill on their own

    • @reneeroxann
      @reneeroxann  2 ปีที่แล้ว +56

      I am obviously aware that you can squeeze them from the bud directly without cutting because I grow them. There are certain times in the season when it’s good to squeeze the cones (May-September) they go dormant just like any other plant so the cones will while and won’t replenish when closer to winter. I chose to cut them because it was later in fall when I filmed this video knowing that first frost was coming and ginger shampoo is sensitive and burns easily. Also because this plant grows in very moist grounds there are of course going to be mosquitos so I didn’t want to film this video by the creek and get bit up a bunch, so I cut my cones and leaves so the whole plant wouldn’t decay and left the ginger rhizome in the ground to sprout again this spring. If you’re in a colder climate I suggest taking them out the ground or if they are in pots bring them inside!

      @@reneeroxann It would be great to have added into the video if you should rinse or not. Clearly it wasn't "obvious" to people that you cut it for the reasons you did, or they likely wouldn't have asked. Your obvious is not obvious.

      @reneeroxann  2 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      @@mayseventy4466 Well what you think I could have did is different from what I produced in the video, I can’t turn back the clock. I just started this channel and it was meant to be an educational hair video using a natural plant, not a how to plant, garden and take care of this plant. That was not my intention! I have the amount of information necessary in the hair video! Anyone who has further questions and comments come to the comment section to discuss like you are. If you want information about the plant or what a more in-depth video ask but this is not a gardening channel. CURLS/HEALTH/BEAUTY!

    • @reneeroxann
      @reneeroxann  2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@startreedancer1412 Well I did mention it in the video at 2:26 and I quote “Now you can use this for your skin, for your hair, you can use it as a shampoo or a conditioner honestly anything you choose.
      I also mentioned at 4:18 second that I you can filter your shampoo ginger but I was outside gardening today. So you can guess that after I applied it as shampoo I left it in as a conditioner or deep continent because I would be gardening after the video.
      I did not have to explain every little detail of the video. People act like if you cut it the plant is harmed. It grows rapidly so I cut it to sit down and be comfortable making a video. Did I have to tell everyone that I can’t set up my tripod in the wet soil where there are mosquitos and bad lighting.

    Hey everyone so I am aware that you can squeeze the shampoo directly from the cone. I do grow them so I pay extra attention to my plants. At the time this video was filmed it was in October. There are certain times in the season when it’s good to squeeze the cones (May-September) they go dormant just like any other plant so the cones will wilt especially with how aggressively I am milking them. At this time of year whether you squeeze the life out of them or not they won’t replenish when closer to winter. Because we were in fall I was preparing for first frost coming and ginger shampoo is sensitive and burns easily. Every year the leaves turn and die as well the the cones wilt and die. This plant grows in very moist grounds by the natural stream, of course there are going to be mosquitos. I didn’t want to film this video by the creek and get bit up a bunch, so I cut my cones and leaves so the whole plant wouldn’t decay. I left the ginger rhizomes in the ground to sprout again this spring. If you’re in a colder climate I suggest taking them out the ground or if they are in pots bring them inside!

      This is so neat. I have medium to long very currley hair and I love trying all natural stuff to keep it healthy and strong. I use alot of different oils even on non wash days I rotate between my favorite oils and just work it into my dry hair and it makes my hair s very happy lol. I have a hard time finding shampoos that have the slip to it to keep from drying my hair out so I'm going to definitely try this! Can u leave it in your hair or do u need to rinse it or is either OK?

      I won’t claim that ginger shampoo willwill completely eliminate the dandruff but it will help soothe your scalp and the amount of flakes will minimize. Adding fresh grated ginger into the mix to help the mixture become more potent and essential oils like tea tree and peppermint will help subside the symptoms. If this doesn’t help contact your dermatologist or local herbalist for more answers.

I have kept it in the shower for up to a month no refrigeration but I don't suggest it.

      @@brieb402 Ok, no worries love. When it comes to this plant, you can squeeze her until she’s dry and sometimes they just won’t refill. Because of the time of the season that you’re in depending on your zone or climate. The thing is that they are able to spread rapidly in central Florida, but they are not invasive. We do have them in excess here. I just don’t understand the purpose of people freaking out about my plant and what I squeeze in my garden because it grows in abundance. Once you squeeze Bill in, you’ll let margin and get the shampoo from it it usually will wilt at the end of the season because you have now do you hydrated the plant. After you squeeze it, you can just cut it and it will create a new bulb.

    • @reneeroxann
      @reneeroxann  2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Hey so I will be honest with you. I have had this plant in the garden for some years now. If you squeeze her ever so slightly without damaging the inflorescence they will continue to replenish. If you squeeze the bulb until it’s dry there is no chance for it to replenish because it has been destroyed and milked the life out of. They will usually start to wilt and they will soon dry up and the stem will turn yellow and die.

    • @reneeroxann
      @reneeroxann  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Shampoo Ginger can be grown outdoors in USDA Hardiness Zones 8a-10b. You can try to grow them in containers outside after winter. You can also grow them inside at any point of the year. Ginger shampoo is a natural bug repellent and deterrent for mosquitoes flies, ants and cockroaches. Underground though it does attract small pass, such as a aphids, spider mites, thrips, and fungus gnats, but no snakes. Spraying Neem oil is a great natural deterrent!
      As for invasiveness. According to our Florida data, it is not invasive but it is a runner and a multiplier and it can overrun other plants in the garden so you do you want to either keep it contained in a container. Other options include if you have a yard planted in a low lying area With shade and enclose it so that I can run. It will not kill other plants. It will create space amongst others.

      I Shampooed my hair and garden for 3 hours and left it in as a deep conditioner. You can also apply this as a daily hair moisturizer, it gets slightly crunchy after it dries so it helps to form the curls as you saw my hair transition in the video. I believe you would be able to grow this plant in Russia. It just takes trial and error when growing a tropical plant in cold temperatures. Start growing in pots and make sure to bring in during the winter. If you grow outside make sure to cover the plants or cut back during the winter. The rhizomes can stay in the ground, or you can dig them up.

      Hey so it all depends on where you live but “In USDA Zone 8, these plants survive winter when mulch is added to the soil and the roots and rhizomes are protected from freezing.” They do pretty well in Florida and are tolerant until temperatures reach below 55 deg, bring them inside. Planting them in pots or even keeping the rhizomes in a ziploc bag until spring is helpful if you live in a cold environment. Snip the leaves that die from the first frost. Keep them dry during the dormant winter months and they should also be seasonally waterlogged. I hope this helps, happy gardening!

      Yes! I left it in for a few hours while I gardened and then rinses it out. I have worn it in my hair all day as a styling product. No problem.

    Is there a way to get shampoo Ginger in New York City, excuse me Harlem, and does that work well with yuca?

      Ha ha I love the comment. I am very sure that there is a way because I see people sell shampoo ginger on Etsy. You can also check Facebook marketplace and local nurseries in the area. Try growing them in containers before you put them in the ground. I have not tried to mixing it with the yucca, but I will definitely let you know
