I have a lot of electrical back up, my electrical usage is way low compared to most. In Utah AC is nice but not required. Lots of very affordable options for lighting.
Natural gas outage would be rough, 9 months no problem but December thru February would be brutal! I have back up but it will be cold! My backup heating will only last so long, & I’m always looking for more/better options. Diesel heater(s) look good but I’m not wanting to store another fuel source.
If there is a power outage I do not think stores will sell even with cash. Do you think today’s cashiers can total up your purchase, add tax, then figure change without the registers working?

Be ready to deal with your fridge and freezer for a short period of time with a generator or get that stuff canned quickly. Heating is a big issue for me as well. I have a wood stove standing by as a back-up that I would need to install quickly if the natural gas is also disrupted.

@@Thepreparedguy I plan to power the fridge for two days, then abandon. I will continue to power chest freezer, & I do have two dc fridges that are very low elec draw. I went 5 days without power in 1993, so long ago I can’t remember, but I must have lived.
