Bracketry... this is why I love listening to Hillbilly talk. And, for those of you who think Hillbilly made up that word in his unique hillbilly way, bracketry is actually an automotive term for the mounting hardware used to hold one part to another on a vehicle. What do you mean cherry ?, It's a shitter with some shiny parts bolted to it, as an add for summit racing. You need to take off your beer goggles matey.
Okay, a couple comments, first off I agree with Hillbilly about a shop apron, except for in the kitchen, I tend to wear an apron when I'm doing any projects around the house. Secondly, I love those wheels, they remind me of the Crager (or however it was spelled) mags that were the coolest things on the road back in the day, chrome wheels were ok, but mags were the real deal. Can't wait to see what this Chevy looks like when you get done doing your magic. Also tell Summit Justin that his doppelganger, who is the son of one of my best friends, lives in Spokane Washington.
Robbie you need to screen print an apron that has hillbilly on it. I would buy one.

Someone put a flare fitting on backwards on that short piece. That's an amazing tool, and wish I had one like it, but ya gotta be smarter than what you're working with. Be careful when put things together, that both pieces are facing the right direction.

Armor Shield is the real deal (and the special price is a great deal). I put it on my new Tahoe 4 years ago and have been very pleased with the shine and water repellency thought it would be a good time to reapply.

The calibration with Summit is what any GM car guy could ever ask for! I just wish you could break the LS engine in there before the 2000 mile journey back home! God speed when that time comes. Til next time, take care, and we'll see you on the next...

Great Job you guys, this is one of my Favorite cars and I am very impressed with the build.
I remember when they introduced this beauty in a commercial on black & white TV ... it was the best looking car of the year!

When you are working with extra thick oils, just heat the oil in a microwave for 1 or 2 minutes, until it is hot enough to lower its viscosity!

You should’ve put a six speed standard in there. Would’ve been a lot more fun. And you were at that point where you could’ve done anything what a shame. I set up Kreggers would’ve been nice too. Lol
After reading the comments there are lots of praise for Hillbilly, and well deserved. Both, Robby and Hillbilly are living a dream with all these Summit parts, and the boss has her team under control. Amazing experience.

When you get back to your body shop I don't want to see anybody work except for fixing the holes. Clear coat everything else the frame and everything clear-coated. That patina is beautiful.

The year I was born, Dad bought a brand new. white over turquoise blue, 1956 Chevy Belair 4 door that had the gas filler in the fin. I was funny to watch the service station attendants look for where to put the gas in (this was in the day when you did not or in some states COULD not pump your own gas!).

30+ years as a mechanic, I've always used silicone on the diff cover and put gear oil in right away. Never waited and never had any problems
Exactly! So much misinformation in this series, like the engine trans and rear end all being junk. WTH! You were using the clutch to slow the car I believe everything was fine. Body shops shouldn't try to do mechanic work apparently.

Loved this vid! I just watched the engine install on Summit's channel and it hit me why Justin seems "familiar". In the intro he looks somewhat like and sounds a lot like Ian Johnson from Extreme Off-Road, etc. So much so they could be related. In a way I wish Summit had a lot of these items for the old school (F)SJ Jeeps; it would make my life so much easier! Ah well. I'm really looking forward to the road trek back to Ephraim! Safe travels 😎👍
We did this with a 1963 Sedan deVille Cadillac in about 1977... Minus all the money, parts and propper shop tools and environment. We were in my side yard, all dirt, in west Phoenix, in Summer. We made it to Flagstaff. I've never left!

If u got a welder tack a couple plates on to your skids just enough so when they wear u can cut rheum off and add a few new ones if not they won’t last long if the are scuffing the ground

Robby is the first TH-camr to pack bearings by hand the way I was taught in Grade 9 Auto Shop over 40 years ago.

I’ve been a fan of Automotive tv programming since I was little. I’ve seen a few great hosts an programs …. Robby if you ever have the chance to have your own show bigger then U-toobs , DO IT !
So, they get this machine. Then they fully disassemble it and give it the full body rebuild, including new patch panels and stuff like Paul preempted with the body swap on The Nuggie. This will be worth a million when it's done.
I'd love to see Hillbilly's mind build a ratrod. He basically has an encyclopedia in his head of what random old parts work together even if they probably shouldn't, and an odd sense of "junk style" that make me positive the final results of the build would be epic. The Bronc⭐️ is kinda his offroad ratrod, but i mean something for on road, even if it's a family hauler he'd make it cool.
Matt is in the groove with excitement for the build. I like that.
No matter who you are no matter what you like be it a Ford a Chevy a Dodge Toyota or Honda it does not matter. This has been extremely impressive. Looking forward to the next video.

I love your 57 series its been fun watching especially the fact that I live just north of you in Aurora, Ohio and I’m very familiar with Summit racing. It would’ve been fun to have a chance to do a meet and greet with you for the fans here on the east side of the United States.
All these guys are mechanically gifted. Hillbilly not only has knowledge he has mechanical intuition in his Arsenal.

Everyone loves packing bearings! Have you ever tried using a needle fitting on the grease gun?
You can make packing bearings easier by using the wide side to stuff grease in I had a high school mechanics teacher that could pack bearings with one hand
That’s how I was taught to do it also when I was an aircraft mechanic. Put a pile of grease in the palm of one hand, put the bearing on the second section of the middle finger of the other hand with the large side of the bearing facing down. Bend the finger and slap the open part of the bearing into the grease repeatedly, pressing the grease into the bearing. Rotate the entire bearing when the grease starts coming out the upper, smaller part of the bearing and continue slapping it into the grease and rotating it until the entire bearing has grease coming out the smaller end. Very quick and easy process.

The speedometer cable also drives the odometer, so if the tenths of a mile change it's a good indicator that the speedo will work .
But not a guarantee.
Just want to juice the algorithm and let you know you're putting out some great content Robby.
Robby if that was red and white th car would be my dream car as would be what my grandfather drove the greatest man I ever have known. He died when I was 11 man this 60 year old man will have one before I die

Just FYI, per SAE (and FAA) requirement bolt/nut engagement has 3 threads exposed on the outside of the nut. This isn't a rule (unless you're racing) but it's a good guideline to follow when assembling - why 3? because it makes it quite easy to see (on visual inspection) whether or not the nut has backed off when everything is 3 threads.... are you going to get a ticket? no, but is it good practice?... yes.
