It's always good to see maintenance pulled on heavy equipment. They're too expensive not to maintain. Praying for your continued success in Jesus Name 🙏
Watch and learn, and learn a few things we did - thanks for a reminder that just like the Cat 313 ( a workhorse needs rest) , we also need periodic "spiritual maintenance." "But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded." 2Chronicles 15:7 (NIV) May the Lord bless you and your viewers, Sam, and keep you safe as we begin a new week. Until next time, Mike&Pat
About 2 yrs ago, I was considering buying another excavator. I looked at several different brands, including Cat. I like most things about the Cat 304, except the manual bucket exchange system and the price. All the machines I looked at were the same size class and the same options. The Cat 304 was $91k. The next highest was $78k. That's a huge difference, but I think you are paying for a better parts and service network. Nobody else's service was even close in my area. I ended up not buying an excavator because I had to buy a truck instead. I would still consider buying a Cat when I can afford it. They are nice machines.
Yes, they are a bit pricey for sure. I do like them pretty good though. I wish 1000 times I had ordered it with the hydraulic quick connect. Just didn’t realize how much I would have used it… Thanks
Hi Sam , I just serviced My Skidsteer on the last job. It wasn’t at all comfortable, It was 50 hrs over due🤦🏼♂️😃 ! I appreciate the Message and You for taking the time to share it ! Have a Safe and Blessed Week 👍🏻
That was a 12oz Dr Pepper bottle (I know because I drink Dr Pepper in that size bottle) - you just gave an excellent sales pitch for CAT. Maybe they'll send you a new right rear panel for your machine - LOL.
Yup, I noticed that about the bottle a few minutes later.🤣 I like that size bottle too, it’s just enough. That is a good idea, CAT should send me a new panel. Especially when it was a defective part that caused it to swing open on its own…
Thank you for the great video Sam. I’ve really enjoyed the hickory ridge series so far and I love seeing an owner operator take care of their machines. I’d also like to take a moment to thank you. Watching your videos, along with a few other dirt channels, and seeing your CATs in action gave me the confidence to buy my used 304E2 CR from C and C Equipment. 👍🏻
Awesome Sammy Thanks for sharing 👍 The Wife and I always enjoy your messages and videos. I wish when doing maintenance on vehicles was that simple 😂THANKS Brother Take Care 🙏
Great video Sam. I finally closed on my new Tennessee property. I have 145 acres in God’s Country‼I have been scratching holes in the brush trying to find the perfect shop site. I really need your 313😎. The people in Scott County are some of the nicest people on the earth. My neighbors are quickly turning into lifelong friends. I’ve learned so much watching your videos, I’m going to book an excavator to rent for a month this winter when the leave are off the trees so I can see more than 2 feet.
Hey that is great news and that sounds like a nice piece of land. Tennessee folks are generally good people. 😀 You will have a lot of fun cleaning up with that excavator. Thanks and God Bless, Sam
I enjoyed your walk through on the 313's service. Being someone whose one day mechanical ability can be expended properly on tying just one boot, you'd make a great instructor on such doings. That skill also comes in handy in your Bible messages.
Hey Sam, next time you are trying to get leverage on an Allen wrench, use a box end wrench and slide the closed end over the wrench (in line with the wrench). Use a bigger one like 3/4"...works great. I welded nuts to the plugs on my final drives to make removing them easier
Talk to dirt perfect don’t remember if was Case or Hondai track hoe they don’t have government juice. Yes it’s waste of good money it might don’t remember lol maybe something changed for the good side of that crap lol
Im just curious could you dig a little trench about 3 ft deep then drive over it and make it easier to crawl under the machine to change the oil? I dont think it would collapse if its only as wige as the bucket and it would make your life alot easier.
Great message today Sam thank you for showing us how you maintenance your machine Sam and wow miracles do still happen we got two videos from you in one week wow thank you Sam
Making use of the wet start ! The oil testing service is a great idea, have seen this system used for commercial vehicles, too. You can't see inside the mechanical parts, so this is the next best option to keep an eye on the insides ! 🧐🤓
You make it look relatively easy,.... you still have to know what you are doing 🤓 Oil testing is good idea, you can't see inside the machine, so this brings the inside to you !! With longer service intervals, this is popular on this side of the pond..... for plant and trucks 👍

Jim that’s right. Relatively speaking maintenance is much cheaper than repairs…
Thanks and God Bless
Looks like cat engineered their machine with maintenance convenience in mind. Thanks for sharing Sam
They sure did Ron! They definitely made it pretty easy to do. Do you still have the CAT demo?
@@tristardiggin yep Sam I'm still in the 304 demo. Not sure what he's gonna buy but the cat is a nice machine
Great job servicing that cat! Im sure it appreciated it quite a bit... thanks for the message and spreading good news👍
Yup, I’m sure the 313 enjoyed the fresh oil…
@@tristardiggin 👍

Thank you Todd! Hey that’s cool that you stepped out and bought the 304. It is a great machine and you will get a lot of stuff done with it. Congrats…
Awesome Sammy Thanks for sharing 👍 The Wife and I always enjoy your messages and videos. I wish when doing maintenance on vehicles was that simple 😂THANKS Brother Take Care 🙏
Thanks Jon and glad yall enjoy the videos. Right, vehicles can be a bit more difficult…

Yup, that would work great. Also welding the nuts on there is a good idea too…
Gov’t juice!!! Hahaha!! You mind if I incorporate that into my vocabulary arsenal?!
Don’t mind at all! 🤣🤣🤣
Talk to dirt perfect don’t remember if was Case or Hondai track hoe they don’t have government juice. Yes it’s waste of good money it might don’t remember lol maybe something changed for the good side of that crap lol
Yup the DEF requirement is aggravating for sure…
2 Timothey 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
Amen! 😀
Im just curious could you dig a little trench about 3 ft deep then drive over it and make it easier to crawl under the machine to change the oil? I dont think it would collapse if its only as wige as the bucket and it would make your life alot easier.
Yeah that would work. Wouldn’t take just a minute to dig it…
Thanks,
Sam
Great message today Sam thank you for showing us how you maintenance your machine Sam and wow miracles do still happen we got two videos from you in one week wow thank you Sam
Thanks Kevin and glad you enjoyed it. But don’t get to use to the 2 videos per week. 🤣🤣🤣

Alex that is right! It’s well worth the time and money. Especially when CAT makes it so easy…
Thanks
Nice equipment and you’re keeping it that way! I agree with you 100% about the DEF
Thanks Charles and that DEF is a bit far reaching in my opinion, especially for equipment and tractors…
Eastern ky here. We see ya down there good cousin. Enjoying your videos brother. God bless yall
Hey thanks and I appreciate you watching and supporting the channel.
God Bless you as well…
Now ready to make many more hours with !
Maintenance and "preventive" is important.
Yup, should be good for 500 more hours…
Thanks
Oh boy Sam, that crack really stuck out like a sore thumb during this episodes message! 🤪
Hey Warren that is right! Wow, I wish it wasn’t like that. Maybe some day I can get it fixed…
Thanks
Enjoyed the servicing and message sir! Daily maintained on “us”. Maybe one day I’ll have a 313 and I’ll already know how to service it lol
Hey thanks, I appreciate that! Yup, you will be ready for maintenance on that 313…😀
Looks like you may have an A/C leak? oil around the a/c join and service port area, see at 5:17- 5:23.
Thanks Greg I will check that out…
Hey Sam those ports on the pump are quick couplers to hook up pressure gauges for diagnosing problems or pressures tests.
Hey thanks for the info. That clears it up, I wasn’t sure what those were for…
Seems alot easier than most machines I've seen. Great videos sir!!
Thank you Bradley! I was pretty impressed with how this machine worked out! 😀
I'm surprised you running cheap diesel cat recommended is the good diesel
As far as I know it’s the same Diesel except it has dye in it to marks it as untaxed fuel for off road use only…
That was pretty easy Sam, it`s all about the maintenance, well done sir.
Thanks Joe, it wasn’t too bad at all. CAT makes it easy to do…
Good Message brother
My Pastor preached on that this morning!!
Sounds like you got a double dose of that one! 😀
Well I guess you weren't kidding about not getting used to two videos per week!
🤣🤣🤣
Excellent message and video. Gotta love that government juice lol
Thanks Scott! But the government juice, 😡🥵…
I like the new style air filters . That’s a cool program for the oil samples!
Yup, those filters seem to work pretty good. I like sampling the oil. It’s definitely cheap insurance for potential problems.
Thanks
Very good video good job on the maintenance and the message amen.
Thank you David! That was a fun video to make and glad you enjoyed it and especially the message…
God Bless,
Sam
