It’s 1:41 am, Tuesday morning, March 5, 2024, at the Amtrak station at Spokane, Washington, on the BNSF Railway Spokane Subdivision.
We watch the transformation of Amtrak’s eastbound Empire Builders, headed from Portland, Oregon and Seattle, Washington, to Chicago Union Station.
Number 28 arrives from Portland and combines with number 8 that’s already arrived from Seattle, to become number 8.
While this transpires, we also see a westbound BNSF Railway unit grain train with Canadian Pacific Kansas City Railroad GE locomotives still in the Kansas City Southern Railway Southern Belle livery!
    Temperature is 27 degrees Fahrenheit.

Judging from the length of those platforms there must have been much longer trains in the past. Fun watching the switching action putting your train together. Good catches and video. I never thought i would see a familiar shadow in Spokane.

John, they were long platforms! They must go back to the days of the Great Northern Railway Empire Builders!
