    One hour in and bored to tears. Sometimes I prefer some action in a military adventure book. 2/5

    The fact that this PC stuff among the citizens is allowed to continue in a timenof war is not believeable... It really weaken the plot.

    Reading the comments, I had no idea how many closed-minded people read sci-fi. The book is from 2018, long before hardly anyone had heard the word 'woke' let alone thought they knew what it meant. Ditto CRT. Sit back and enjoy, it's free! (PS - thanks to the uploader!)

    Like Star Trek, the crew seems incapable of doing the obvious without an order. Surely evasive maneuvers and returning fire should be automatic when ambushed? Also a marine escort for the captain should be S,O.P. With no complaint from the captain.

    • @TedBronson1918
      @TedBronson1918 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      In the military you often don't have the option of doing the obvious at your own discretion - especially on a ship. It takes an order from an officer or the Captain to move the ship or fire a weapon system. The job of the crew is to be ready to instantly obey those orders. Enemy ships operate the same way and under the same restrictions. Equipment plus the better use of it, and better tactics are what make the difference.

      @youaregodspursuit-47 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TedBronson1918 Agreed, there is very little freedom of action in larger groups. Won't work. If you are on a three man patrol, it could work... but on a ship with hundreds if not thousands of crew members cannot survive making things up as you go along!

    • @ericblair3009

      @@TedBronson1918 absolutely CORRECT! The crew are the Captain's eyes, ears and hands.... There is no room for loose cannons.

    • @TedBronson1918

      @@ericblair3009 It's sort of funny... that lack of personal discretion and inability to fire back when threatened was one of the reasons I decided to join the Army Infantry instead of the Navy. The same type of situation may occur - holding fire until the order is given etc... , but a soldier often has far more discretion when his personal safety and that of his unit are concerned.

    Well guess what, every single person is racist to some extent - not on moronic things like skin color but because we all (to some extent) dislike people different to us.
    But better to keep the big pretense going that we all "have" to love each other - uh, we don't. If we did truly love each other there would be no war, no stealing, no murder and no arguments.
    If someone can explain why these human traits existed since the beginning of our species and what to do about them, then you will have solved racism and get a big emoji in thanks.

    I find grandiose space ships boring. No sailors would waste a single micometer of space. They would stuff every in. Compare it to Spanish armada. As in all instance were the commen becomes the rare. The average citizen would be packed in like the emigrant of the 20 centurie. A few rich but most of them would have private. What kind of humanity is willing to step in to the cold fires of stellar space. And all that awaits.

      The arguments are way too cheesy. Everyone is acting as though they are children including the protagonist of this book. It’s almost unbearable. The plot is nice though so I endure. If only the arguments were a little more well structured and not so blatantly fallacious this would have been the perfect space fantasy novel.

    This book is ridiculous, half way through the story thinking theres more to the story, nope the main character is having problems implement procedures that damping racism. Its written in a way that make it seems that fighting racism is preventing this man from doing his job. Because he has to take sensitivity classes and bend to the demands of people upholding civil rights he was losing respect of his crew. Now his whole crew is pissed that they have to take racial sensitivity classes.Yeah he have to takes sensitivity classes. because he might have some racist tendencies tour other aliens. This guy really said that he's not racist because he has aliens friends. This book should have focus on the bureaucracy but the main focus is racism. Let's point something else out. He was accused of only hiring humans and his excuse was there not enough aliens who have the qualifying skills. There are billions of aliens in the galaxy and he couldn't find enough aliens to qualify for his ship. Ridiculous smh
