The subscription would not be a problem. I still have a major issue with connection to my phone data taking around 20-30 times turning my phone and MLM Pro on and off. This alone takes all the fun out of what could be a great launch monitor with a loyal following but there are a lot being sold once the subscription is up.
@@DanielsBrew it becomes a paperweight. Basically no features available other than a few minor ones. However with everything that you get with the subscription, it’s worth it to just renew
Even though the subcription costs is a bit of a turn off, when compared to the price of track man, It really does still pay for itself for at least 5 years for home sim with accurate data. Though I would say in five years time we should see a hige improvement in accuracy with cheaper options for home sims.
Just watched your "Why I'm getting rid of my subscription" only to see this one which you posted 2 hours ago. Love the content mate. I'm looking into the MLM2Pro but see there are heaps of connection issues even on review videos. How do you find it connects to Awesome Golf? Do you get lots of miss reads or the MLM 2 disconnecting?
So with out subscription, if you hit a slice does it show a slice? Or does it not have the ability to calculate that because of the no spin axis feature?
@@davidmaxfieldgolfit's a shame you never filmed the video showing all the things you lost and what didn't work without the membership. You teased that with the video saying you were cancelling it. To rapsodo influence anything?
About to pull the trigger on a 24/7 mlm package. Do you think they will continue with the mlm2pro for a while? Or am I about to buy one and a mlm3 come out within a year or so?
@@davidmaxfieldgolf I have read comments that you can still use the range and that the numbers and direction produced are still accurate when using RPT balls, even though you don’t get spin, which is mainly what I use it for ATM, but I wanted to see a video to confirm as mine is about to expire.
Another great video Dave. In your opinion which unit would you recommend for someone who primarily will be hitting indoors and can only swing to a 5i due to low ceiling 😂 ie- practicing short game mostly.
@@davidmaxfieldgolf I think I’d need a new garage to justify the Skytrak, would want to be swinging the whole bag. How is the data accuracy for MLM2 indoor vs outdoor?
Personally rapsodo have done a disservice to anyone not renewing the subscription. That fact that they basically force you to renew and what they give you for sim courses is unacceptable. If the course sofware was actually good. I'd have no issues with the subscription. The fact that it absolutely sucks and you have to pay yet again for 3rd party sofwsre to actually get nice looking courses is the deal breaker. I hope soon garmin comes out with an updated unit that reads spin. Other companies are coming out with more units it will get better for us. Thanks for the video.
The Garmin native courses are also quite poor and many units also give you free access to the e6 courses. So you don’t have to pay for a third party app if you’re happy with e6.
@rfulch ya heavily leaning towards the mevo +. I may save up more for a camera system but the no subscription is very appealing. Kinda hoping Garmin comes out witha new unit.
@@topgunbass skytrak+ would be a better option and it is a camera based unit. Mevo+ like the Trackman needs at least 2 full revolutions of ball flight with an RCT ball to measure spin accurately. So you’d need 14 feet of ball flight for accurate data, if you don’t have that then you’re better off with the Garmin.
@@topgunbass IMO they are due for a follow up to the R10, unfortunately it seems all the camera units except the Optishot Nova have a subscription, and that unit only works with their proprietary software
Honestly, I’m super disappointed in the free version of the app, the fact that you say it’s a paperweight and you should just buy the subscription is exactly what Rapsodo want you to say. I paid NZD$1300 for the unit, and they’ve hidden even a generic 3D range, impact vision and 3rd party access behind the subscription, which really should be available as a bare minimum after having bought their device. Extras, like courses, shot modes and video storage is reasonable for a subscription. But right now, the subscription is extremely predatory. The one that really gets under my skin is the impact camera being unavailable, that is something I paid for that comes with the unit. It’s the same as paywalling heated seats in a car that you bought. Disappointed you just subscribed again, when you have an audience like you do, it helps everyone to affect change and put pressure on companies when you stick to your guns and shed light on unfair subscription models.
@@FlyingInFocus you do realise that every launch monitor has a subscription of some sort outside of the Garmin R10 right? And even to use the Garmin R10 best you either need GSPro or awesome golf which again is an annual subscription. Plus all of the features that you get you don’t find in even much more expensive launch monitors like the GC3
@@davidmaxfieldgolf just because that’s the case, doesn’t make it right. I paid for a device to be useful, at a bare minimum, the free features should show me some decent data and NOT make it a paperweight, like you yourself have said. They’re obviously smart and know how to entrap the customers, but again, just because that’s what some others do, doesn’t make it right.
And further to your point about 3rd party software, even that’s paywalled behind their subscription service, so I have to pay an annual fee, for the right to pay another annual fee for another service.

Have you checked your home internet connection? A router or wifi booster could solve the issue
So... where is the follow up video that shows what features you have remaining, after the subscription runs out?
@@DanielsBrew it becomes a paperweight. Basically no features available other than a few minor ones. However with everything that you get with the subscription, it’s worth it to just renew
I mean the first 2 minutes of the video explains that. How about watching it instead
Curious.. what projector are you using? I am trying to figure out which one to buy for my MLM2Pro and simulator room. Thanks!
Best ones are the new Optoma 4K projectors from 24/7 golf
Has anyone had an issue with the black coming off onto the screen? I have the Callaway RCT balls.
I haven’t personally
Do you need to purchase the rapsoto subscription if you only want E6?
Yes you do for all 3rd party apps
This may have already been answered in a previous video, but how are you projecting the mlm2pro app output?
HDMI to usbc cable gets the projected image on my simulator then I screen record for the overlay
Does it pick up short chips? Have you had any connection issues? Without subscription unit is pretty useless no?
it does pickup short chips really well. Thats really because of the RPT ball

Most of those will be old issues 😁 I have no connection issues with the mlm2pro. Maybe once in a blue moon but that’s it
I have it; I opted for the low graphics setting and haven't had an issue since.
