I'm glad you're feeling better. I missed your videos. The club recognition works but doesn't. It changes while you're in your session but when you sync your shots it shows it never changed.
Thanks for the videos David, it helped me in making the decision to purchase the MLM 2 Pro for my simulator. I am having an issue of the distances not measuring correctly on anything over a 7 iron. My driver is only showing a carry distance of 180 and a total of 200ish yards. I play frequently and know that I drive the ball between 250-270 depending on the day. I’ve tried 8’ from the monitor to the ball, and 9.5’ to the net, and then I tried 6.5’ to the ball, and 11.5’ to the net, but it still isn’t reading correctly. At the start of this video you mentioned a light that was up against the garage door behind the launch monitor. You said you would explain why in a moment, but never came back to why. Is not having enough light behind the ball possibly my issue?
Another great video, you mentioned lighting in the video but didn’t go into detail. What lighting setup do you think works best? What type of lights do you use?
Yes sorry forgot to get to that. I use the lighting because if I want to go back and see the impact vision the lighting helps give me a much better picture to review the shot afterwards
The Maine reason I'm interested in this launch monitor is the ability to capture the swing both down the line and face on. Looks like an ideal product for self evaluation. Any chance you can do a video in this regard

Because it’s using a camera to pickup the RPT pattern on the golf ball you’ll need some light in the room for the camera to be able to see the ball and rpt pattern. It won’t work as well if it’s too dark
Hi David thanks for your efforts with these videos on the MLM. I have had mine for a week now and generally like it a lot. A few things that I find frustrating is that Rapsodo has not issued any detailed 'how to use' videos, just the basic setup. We should not be reliant on you and others on youtube (grateful though I am) for this, the manufacturer should do it. Anyway, do you know how to get the front-facing camera to work? I can't seem to get that connected. I have also noticed some crazy short rollouts when using the driver. I know carry is the important thing with any launch monitor but it should be easy enough to make it fairly realistic. I am getting 10 yards rollout on a well-struck 220-yard carry shot! I get 30 yards on the course. Thanks again for what you are doing, really appreciate it.
Thanks Paul, it’s always really hard to get the correct rollout with any launch monitor. So many variables with a course which is why most will just focus on carry 😁

Hi David. Just a couple of things i found out to maybe help others with the mlm 2 pro. Re connecting problems, i found that always connect via the profile tab always work. Re distance accuracy, i found when using ordinary golf balls my distances were approx 40m short all the time. When i used the balls (Callaway with dots), the accuracy of distance was spot on. This is using the unit outside in garden with a net. Also to, I'm using a wifi extender outside so as the mlm2pro has line of vision to wifi extender. Actually for the first time could play all 9 holes on virtual golf and also distance practice without any dropouts 😂. Hope this helps any frustrated users. Regards David in Perth

The yellow hitting box used for alignment shows up as a line on my MLM2Pro. Any idea why mine does not show up as a box, but as a line? I'm wondering if this could be affecting results? Most of the numbers seem "ball park", but driver is off..
I was able to hold my club up at the unit at the driving range and it did work. I had to move it closer a few times but eventually it would read the club "number" and show it on the app. I'm not sure it saves any time though. Maybe if they make it read a little faster or better explain what the proper distance is from the camera to get it to register.
I just got my MLM2Pro, don't have a home set up yet but have been taking it to the range. Problem is there is a drop off behind the hitting mats, so I'm unable to get a level set up for the unit. I can get it somewhat close and the unit is reading when I hit, but how accurate are the numbers when unit isn't 100% level with the hitting surface? Any insight you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have any suggestions as far as lighting goes? I have led cans, 1 over the mat and 1 over the net. Do you think more light better or just light the flight path?
How does aiming work…looking at the MLM shot camera video feed, the target line is off to the right of the center of the projector screen. Are you aiming at the center of the projector screen or are you guessing where this target line is? Surely if you hit it at the center of the screen the MLM would detect this as a left pull (I think the video is actually flipped, so it’s actually causing the ball to go right). This would apply to simulation mode too…the flag would appear in the center of screen, but because the target line is off center, if you aimed at the flag you would hit it left or right….hope that make sense. Just trying to understand how aiming works based off what I can see on your screen
I have a very similar set up and really battle with carry distances, especially driver, it struggles to ever read over 180m, whereas I know on average on the course should be 240+, some sessions I can’t even get it over 140m in the MLM pro. For example, 7 iron on MLM2 showing 125-130 yds (real world 160 yds) up to 4 iron on MLM2 reading 150 yds (real world 190 yds). The longer the club, the greater the disparity. I have good lighting above ball with very little shadow from netting on impact screen but haven't tried placing extra light behind the device like you've shown. Also hitting from mat that does move slightly with each shot as is placed on carpet which as you say may impact accuracy. Hard for me to understand why sand wedges so accurate but everything else is way short. Does hitting white balls into the white screen have negative impact? Any other suggestions? Same here. I know my carry distances on the course. Spent the whole weekend with this thing and then played Monday using those carry distances. I flew multiple greens. 🤷♂️. But , my net is black and it needs more light in the basement. I may try adding lighting and see what happens.
I'm also having some issues with accuracy and wondered if you could help? I've updated the firmware to latest and are using the latest app. I have set up in an indoor garage, hitting into a net, and have the unit sitting at the same height as the hitting mat, 7.5 feet directly behind the ball aimed down the target line, and I have around 10ft of ball flight to net. I have tried using the supplied Callaway balls, and also changed the altitude settings - but these tweaks make only very small differences to my readings. My issue is all distance readings are way short. For example: Rapsodo shows my 7 iron carries 125m at best. On course my ave carry is 148m. Rapsodo shows my driver's total distance is 178m on average. On course my ave driver distance is 240m. What am I doing wrong? These numbers are way off. The 'experts' on TH-cam all said this unit was very accurate, but that's not my experience to date. Any help/suggestions, as this is a little worthless with current readings?
@@davidmaxfieldgolf I have tried using the Rapsodo-supplied Callaway balls with dots on, and also a mix of other Premium balls. The Rapsodo supplied Callaway balls read a little longer, but only very slightly (1-2%). When I take the unit to an outdoor range the numbers are very accurate. So something must be off with my indoor setup. But as I say, I'm following the instructions - I have the unit sitting at the same height as the hitting mat, 7.5 feet directly behind the ball aimed down the target line, and I have around 10ft of ball flight to net. Perhaps it doesn't read as well when hitting into a black net VS hitting into a white impact screen?? Or not sure if lighting plays a part? Wish I could solve this - any thoughts?
I love my mlm2pro. The one thing I wish it had was a shot type with clubs for review reasons like trackman. I hit 4 shot types per club but all I can do is select the club. It screws up the average data.
@David Maxfield Golf tried getting it connected but I believe you have to have a tablet with a cellular connection. Wifi to the rapsodo and cellular to talk to awesome golf. Can get it to work on my phone but not my tablet. Oh well

I finally got my mlm 2 pro work after few days of trying. It is nice device to when it finally work, but it is probably the most frustrated setup process..... Both my home wifi and my new ipad pro m2 are problematic to mlm 2 pro...the original firmware won't connect to the my galaxy s23 and the new purchased ipad pro m2, fortunately, it does connect to my old huawei mate 10 pro and I eventually get the firmware update to the latest one....and finally, I could get my ipad connect through home wifi, but lost connection every few minutes...which make it impossible to use. Finally I end up bough and dedicated 5G wifi router to use only with mlm 2 pro. I also need to disable the AirDrop, so it won't drop the connection every few minutes....my ipad still won't do the direct connection with mlm 2 pro while my android devices were okay....
That’s very strange. I’ve heard of those issues but I’ve never experienced them myself. Could simply be a case of not a strong enough connection in the unit
@@davidmaxfieldgolf the compatibility issues is common for a new product, but it seems more on MLM 2 pro....i guess they are rushing to get the unit out and short of test. With the R10 & Sci-Core practice balls, I get good numbers with 6.5ft. from R10 to tee, & 7ft. from tee to net. The Rapsodo seems to require specially-marked real golf balls, & gives away the major advantage of optically-based units, which is reduced space requirements. I’m moving to the new Skytrak+, which requires only 18 inches horizontally from unit to tee, & few inches of ball flight with any lighter-colored ball (Sci-Core are making white balls, now). The Rapsodo just doesn’t seem to have any advantages for me, & has significant disadvantages.
You didn’t give a single setup secret for accurate numbers as your description stated. If people are getting lower distance like you mentioned, this video did nothing to help them.
For me the mention of setup 10ft from screen is a tip, the manual says 8 feet I believe but the unit don’t seem to pick up my driver distance, short by maybe 60-80 yards. Shorter irons seem to be fine though and I think it’s down to having ball 8 ft from net. Will go back a couple of feet now and see how it goes. So for me it is a vid that gives setup tips 👍

Call me nutty..... But if you need some sort of super secret set up method just to get accurate numbers from your multi-thousand dollar launch monitor... it may not be worth it.
It’s not a multi thousand dollar unit, it’s a budget launch monitor and they all have their own setup requirements no matter which one you get for optimal numbers

Are you using range balls?
You can do that in awesome golf by naming the club - 7iron fade then 7iron draw etc
@@davidmaxfieldgolf oh sweet, good to know, thank you
@David Maxfield Golf tried getting it connected but I believe you have to have a tablet with a cellular connection. Wifi to the rapsodo and cellular to talk to awesome golf. Can get it to work on my phone but not my tablet. Oh well
The instructions say for club recognition it needs to be 6 inches away and for 2 seconds long. I can’t tell if you did that but it’s in the instructions
👍🏼👍🏼
Its very hot ? What city you in ? Sydney is pretty chilly these days
I’m on the Gold Coast in QLD

For me, i was strike by few issues: my outdated 2.5g wifi, my latest ipad pro M2 also have connections issue before i disable the AirDrop. Right now, my ipad work with new home 5ghz wifi router, but not the direct connection......i played again this morning and it last more than an hour before drop connection....so it is okay...the unit become hot after an hour of use.
this didnt do anything for me im still having distance issues with my rapsodo mlm2 pro my driver is up t 100 yards off and my irons are 20-30 yards off
why is your backswing so short?
Just seems to work better for me 😁👍🏼
how did you find it with your Driver, im struggling to accurate data with that club, all the others are good.
Yeah found it perfect for me. Very accurate with the rpt balls
@@davidmaxfieldgolf thanks mate. I will keep at it and try to figure out what I’m doing wrong. All the other clubs are great.
@@GMC_Photosame problem here let me know what you did
My experience is that the MLM2Pro cameral will pick up numbers off your irons.
Yes apparently it does
th8mbs up for socks
👍🏼👍🏼😁
my MLM2 pro is way off. All irons are too short
Mine are spot on
Did you get a fix for this
With the R10 & Sci-Core practice balls, I get good numbers with 6.5ft. from R10 to tee, & 7ft. from tee to net.
Skytrak+ definitely has advantages with space for sure and other things
@@davidmaxfieldgolf the only problem with the skytrak+ is the $$. $3K plus $150/mo puts it in a totally different category.
Thumbs up for no shoes!
😁👍🏼👍🏼
You didn’t give a single setup secret for accurate numbers as your description stated. If people are getting lower distance like you mentioned, this video did nothing to help them.
Watch any number of the other 50+ videos I’ve done 👌🏼
For me the mention of setup 10ft from screen is a tip, the manual says 8 feet I believe but the unit don’t seem to pick up my driver distance, short by maybe 60-80 yards. Shorter irons seem to be fine though and I think it’s down to having ball 8 ft from net.
Will go back a couple of feet now and see how it goes. So for me it is a vid that gives setup tips 👍
@@MrBluegoohI need to try the 10’. I did 8’ and my driver distances were way short. I have about 20 more days before I have to return it if need be. I need to get the max setup details to see if it actually works. I’m going to try longer distance to net, and better lighting.
