This I Love - Guns N’ Roses cover

Chinese Democracy is such a divisive album. It’s Axl Rose and a bunch of hired guys calling themselves Guns N’ Roses, because legally they could, and after a decade of build up for the album, people were underwhelmed.
I certainly have my mixed feelings about it as a full album, but one thing is for sure, it does have some great songs on it, and none better than this ballad with some of Axl’s best vocals ever on record. So good I had to downtune the song 2 full steps, and even then (as you’ll hear) I still struggle.
But there isn’t a song I’d rather choose for my 2008 entry in my little backwards Time Machine. Despite my mixed feelings, I listened to the album a lot when it came out during my first semester in college, so I have those memories attached to it.
