The finale sequence of this movie is still one of my favourites to this day. The raining blood, the ancient demon, the eerie silent hill-esque siren sound that is going off constantly… It’s goddamn horror perfection

The creator confirmed that she does not get possessed at the end. He was like "okay...shes gone through WAY too much shit I don't like her getting possesed" So mia does survive. I kinda hope she shows up in the newest coming out!

If you liked Mia's actress Jane Levy in this movie, definately check out Don't Breathe. Just ignore Don't Breathe 2. It ruined what made the first movie good and she's not in it anyway

I just couldn’t believe they made a sequel to it! After the DEPRAVED shit he did in the first film, you CANNOT have him as some sort of antihero protagonist.
David, Eric, Mia, Olivia, Natalie = DEMON. Not many people pick that up...
Mia never died, it was the girl at the beginning who was the first soul.

The coolest thing about this film is that the film is almost entirely practical effects. Even all the way down to the tree scene. The chainsaw scene even used a super cool dummy. I would recommend checking out a video about the special effects they used.
Y'all missed the post credit scene. It's Ash saying "Groovy." Puts the 'remake' claims to rest and instead makes it the fourth movie in the Evil Dead series. Plus, they did put past Evil Dead sound bites over their voices when they are possessed.
What I love about this movie is how the lead character was the first victim, the possessed one and final girl at the end

Underrated as a remake/re-imagining. I like the direction they took it.
She died on OD and brought her back. Kinda like the flatliner movie. :D

This is my favourite horror remake ever, and I actually consider it the best Evil Dead movie out of the 4, it filled me with so much dread watching it that few other movies have matched.
I consider myself a huge Evil Dead fan, have been since I watched the first one 25 years ago and have an original movie poster framed on my wall, but this one really took the concept of the original Evil Dead, modernised it well and managed to be as shocking as the original was in it's time, but in modern times where it's a lot more common and hard to stand out.
Also Jane Levy is 10/10, the pure fear on her face when she's hiding on the bed haunts me.
This movie, The Thing 1982 and The Descent 2005 are the 3 main movies I'd consider pure horror inducing movies.

Yup. One of the very few remake done right in recent decades. It succeeded because it didn't try to be a carbon copy of the originals like so many try to be. Bruce Campbell, his acting, the dark humour, etc. - it's all irreplicable - so going a completely different route, but still paying homage to the OG, worked very well for this movie. The dead serious tone, the absolute brutality and the characters being a little more involved brought something new to the franchise, and something the next movie looks to be picking up which I'm happy to see. Evil Dead 2 will always be one of my favorite horror movie, but I can say this remake is easily on par, just on different aspects. And yeah, Jane Levy totally rocked this role in all its forms: Mia, a deadite, a demonic abomination and a baddass survivor. I do hope she comes back at some point!

Let’s not forget the TCM remake with Jessica Biel. That was a hell of a time as well. I think I prefer this over that but it’s still top of my mind when thinking horror remakes
Usually horror remakes are awful. There´s few exception and this is one of them. Really solid and well made horror film. I just miss the Sam Raimi´s style in this and the weird / black / humor found in Evil Dead´s generally.
I want Sam Raimi to start directing horror movies again, stop with the superhero movies already Sam!
I love that this movie was made by the same person who also did Don’t Breathe.
It possessed her first cause she was at her weakest and most vulnerable.
Watching this in the theater was….intense.

Mia was to be possessed first because she had the weakest will. Possession often goes after those who don’t have the strength to fight back. Think back to Conjuring, oppression infestation possession. Often involves isolation.

This movie gets shit on by a lot of people, but honestly, Jane Levy man. She played every single role you can in a horror movie. From crazy to sane, to believer to cultist. To the monster to the final girl. Not to mention, "Death by chainsaw blow job" Has got to be the most heavy Metal AF kill ever!!!

Rise looks... eh.. I dunno. Looked cheap and cheesy to me. Compare the 2013 trailer to the Rise trailer and it's doesn't even come close. Hoping for the best but I don't think it'll be even remotely as good as 2013 was
The beginning was basically the whole story of the book from the reel to reel found in the basement in the original.

One of my favorite horror movies of all time. Mia is a scary antagonist and a badass final girl. I love the raining blood scene, I want a poster of it. Fedi Alvarez did an excellent job directing this masterpiece.
There was originally an ending where the guy that picked up Mia was Ash.
Idk if I've ever seen a bloodier scene than that ending, the world was drenched in blood

This is my first time seeing a reaction from you guys and your cracking me up and I’ve seen lots of other reactors react to this movie but this was the best. Earned a sub.
One plan after this film was released was to have sequels to this and Army of Darkness leading to an Evil Dead 3 where Ash and Mia would team up.
This film has one of the highest usages of blood at 70,000 gallons. 50,000 gallons were used for the final sequence alone! I freaking love this movie so dang much!
By the way, one of my favorite parts of the movie was the musical score. Reminded me of the earlier Evil Dead scores but takes it to a much more intense and bombastic approach. Those sirens, string tremolos, creepy choirs/whispering and other sounds still gives me chills whenever I hear them! I'm looking forward to the new Evil Dead film coming out this year!

I watched this movie at the theatre with my Mom. She loved horror movies and I vividly remember laughing my butt off during it and my mom looking at me like I was crazy. Great times!
What I liked about this one is that not much has changed really. Other than no humor. Which is fine to me. What matters is that the story is the same... with brutal results.
I liked that this has little to no CGI like the other films. The other interesting but quite messed fact is the main character's names spelled: "DEMON." Which makes it more fitting and adds to the irony of the movie. Also, each of the characters are basically the original cast but in younger forms... so to speak.
Mia being an amalgamation of Ash and Cheryl. David was supposed to be Ash as well. Eric is Scotty. Olivia is Shelly and Natalie was supposed to be Linda. Of course, there are some differences between each character. For example, both Eric and Scotty were such assholes but unlike Scotty, Eric knows he fucked up and is not a coward. I don't know which one I hated more between those two though! The movie is also full of easter eggs and adding a bit to the lore in certain parts. Paying respects to the original trilogy, while also doing their own thing.
Edit: Another thing I forgot to mention, is that this Evil Dead is not just a remake/soft reboot, it is also a continuation from where the original trilogy left off as well.

Malignant was great. I get why the 2nd half loses so many people, but personally I loved how unabashedly insane and campy it let's the concept get.

I think so many people are reacting to this movie because there’s a new Evil Dead movie in the works. I think people are either watching the old ones for the first time or revisiting them in anticipation for the next installment.

Evil Dead 2 is not a remake of Evil Dead 1, it’s a sequel. They didn’t have the rights to use footage from the first movie so they reshoot a few scenes with a different actress. The first 10 minutes is like Evil Dead 1 redone until Ash got pushed up in the air, got knocked out on a tree and woke up possessed.
When I saw this movie I was like 8 and I thought it was the most horrific movie lmao, now that I’ve watched actually horrible things this movie is such a light slice of pie.
I remember renting the first Evil Dead in early 80s from a gas station/video rental place before our small Texas town got a proper vhs rental store , Evil Dead and Faces of Death were must watches, happy to the franchise continue decades later, thanks y’all and yes Evil Dead two and Army of Darkness are a must also

As a horror movie fan and a guy. Mia's demon make-up is IMO the sexist horror, omg creepy but weirdly attractive thing I've ever seen. Thus up make up team, you made me question my soul.
Evil dead 2 is a MUST watch for horror fans! it's more of a restart than a remake! Sam Raimi and Bruce Cambell kind of denounced the very first evil dead! they had some issues with rights or something after the movie came out, so Sam Raimi basically redid the movie on his own terms!

Truly sick and demented cause oof the violence is up to the max. Evil dead rise I feel will be like on the same level with the remake or possibly better cause this is one of the best remakes. Just so brutal and nasty which makes for an entertaining reaction.

Evil Dead 2 is not a remake. They wanted to do a recap of the first one but didn't have permission to use that footage so they reshot the recap scenes.
Absolutely bias on the topic. I'm a HUGE Evil Dead fan, and even for the last few seconds following the credits of this remake, there's one more end credits scene the features the legend himself. I dressed up as Ash for the remake in the theaters and still deciding if I should repeat the stunt for the 'Rise' release. The blood and gore is being kicked up for the next installment, and Campbell himself says it'll be the bloodiest yet.
You guys will definitely have fun going back to Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness. It's absolutely among my favorite franchises of there.
