    Nice to see a review with the bag actually setup for use. I know it took some effort to load it all up for us, just to unload it on camera, so thanks and great job!

    Man! Thanks so much for modeling that bag. I see a lot of reviews on table tops, but it is important to see someone wear it and see how it rides. You getter a better idea of scale too. I appreciate the vid. This gear slinger is too large for EDC. I'll go with a Sitka. And a Vulture 2 for bushwhacking. Thanks again. Thumbs up. ~Wolf

    Another fantastic review! I have a jumbo versi-pack, condor 2, spartan wallet and a 10x4 nalgene holder. All khaki. Excellent quality gear. A little pricey, but you get what you pay for. Thanks for the review.

    Yes, I think so..It was loaded heavy and you made a good observation on the pack. I could still manage the pack and it really performed well for a single strap. I guess its really comes down to personal preference...Thanks

    Thanks....I got them both and I guess it would depend on what you are going to do...Hike , Camping or EDC. I really like the Sitka for a scout pack and the Kodiak is good for overnight. Then if I want couple of days the Condor is the one I take out.....Hope that helps somewhat...

    I just got it. It is a cool pack. I think that a quilt or tarp would fit into the larger rollypoly. I wonder if it would balance properly if it were clipped to the front of the pack. Might be a nice way to add some space when needed.

    I had it fully loaded but just for about 3 hours..Shoulder strap is padded really well. That's all the time so far I have on this pack. The reason I chose this over the sitka is the size and the outside pocket for my stove...Hope this helps....

    Neomik2410 ....Thanks for the comment and the Kodiak could ride a little higher if you wanted to adjust that way. I had about twenty lbs. in the pack and I wouldn't want any more than that on a one strap pack. I 5'8 and 177 so we are close in build so that should give you an idea if the pack is a fit for you. Hope this helps some. Take care...

    Question 1..it would depend on the load.. I picked up my pack once I read this and I had about half the load as you see in the VID. It felt very comfortable to sling it that way if I understood you right. I think if I have the load as shown in the VID I think it would get old quick. Question 2..Proteus would attach but not the Sabercat. The Proteus would be secure on the PAL webbing if attached right ..Hope this helps...

    Jon89maccom ...Condor II would be my pick just because of the two straps..Really depends on what you will be using the pack for, I have a few gearslingers and I really like them and I still use one for an EDC. For more extended use on the trail I want two straps on my pack. Hope this helps and thanks for watching...

    calld2serve if it were 3-5 I would choose the Vulture II which I do not own yet. If I had to use what I currently own it would be the Condor II ....I think I could get 3 days anyway..Thanks!!!

    good review (as are all of your others). I'd like to pick your brains if I can. I'm going to order a fliegerduffel with 2 6x6 pouches for long haul flights but I am also after a backpack, mainly for daily use (want to carry a laptop) but would also like to use it for overnight camping, walking. I'm thinking falcon 2 with 2 rolly-polys on side but wondered what you would suggest !

    I would love to have a nice pack like this one. Currently I have a medium allice pack. I like the versatility of the frame on the Alice but I like the organization of the max packs. I need to add that I am a large fellow. 6'3" and 300 lbs so small packs can be uncomfortable. Do you have a recommendation for me.

    I can't really decide between the sitka and the kodiak. I'm gonna use for work/EDC, but also for hiking/travelling, so I don't wanna to buy something that's too big/small!
    Also, I carry on the right should I buy the S type?

    I carry a lot of weight. Sometimes on horseback other times hiking. Is the versapack comfortable enough to carry all day meaning does it kill your shoulders since their is no waist belt. I considering this pack or one of their actual backpacks.
    Thanks, for the help

    Would this be too big for an EDC for a woman? I have a jumbo and that is not big enough for all of the "stuff" that I have. I tried a mondo.. but that seemed really big, but I like the look of the gear slingers. What do you think?

  • @aaronready1
    @aaronready1 15 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi i am debating if i should get kodiak or sitka for air travel. I need a bag fits under the seat. Any suggestion? Thanks.

    • @rolandaujero9879
      @rolandaujero9879 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sitka is smaller by a long shot (more of an EDC bag). Kodiak (more of an overnight bag) is a lot roomier. Now, it depends on what you want to carry. I carry a 13 inch macbook air and typical EDC shit like a basic FAK, toiletries, flashlights, knives, tools, tech-based stuff like hardrives, spare batteries. Personally, I use a mega rolly poly on the outer molle strap for quick storage stuff (groceries, laundry, anything extra that doesn't fit the Sitka when I have my laptop) b/c the interiors are too tight when I have the laptop and everything in the bag. Using a mega roly on the outside has worked for me b/c I like how compact the Sitka is. I also have the Kodiak, which can be more of an overnighter (24hr-48hr bag?). You won't need a roly poly with it, but with the same exact contents I put in my Sitka, it's heavier just b/c of the bigger size alone. Sitka is grab and go bag. Kodiak is car to office, office to car type bag. Both will fit under airline seat though. If I had to do it all over again, I would get the Falcon II. In my opinion, the 1 strap gear sling style doesn't work well with the size of the Kodiak. If the Kodiak had 2 straps, a sternum and a waist belt, it'd be better. Ultimately, it depends on what your intended use is. EDC or EDC Plus (EDC with a decent amount of room to spare).

  • @Zaidini
    @Zaidini 15 ปีที่แล้ว

    Two questions though. Firstly, have you tried slinging the Kodiak on the shoulder by the side? How comfortable is it? Just curious.
    Secondly, is it possible to attach the Proteus or Sabercat to the front of the Kodiak? Would it hold securely or would it flop around?
    I'm thinking of attachment options that may be compatible with other Maxpedition products.

  • @hcmalibu72
    @hcmalibu72 15 ปีที่แล้ว

    CJ, do you think a good amount of weight in this pack would cause it to sit lower than a normal dual-strap backpack? Just my assumption, but I thought it looked to sit low when you showed the view of your back. Thanks
