Granite Countertop DIY Episode 13 Cost and Reveal

In this video I will show you what the fabricated countertop looks like installed right after fabrication and then once kitchen was completed. Then I will talk about the cost of the granite. This series of videos is good for the home builder or DIY remodeler. It will be especially valuable to the home owner who wants to remodel their own kitchen and wants granite countertops but can not afford them.

Really nice job. Have done a lot of solid surface counters as a contractor and cabinet maker. Will now give my next build a shot at granite. I have no doubt itll turn out great thanks to some of your finer points from these videos. EXACTLY the info Ive been looking fot.

Thanks for the comment. I was in the same boat. I lost many countertop jobs to granite people, so I started to do them. Also, I could not afford the granite prices so I just did it myself. It was the best thing ever. Just be careful because granite is very heavy. You could be seriously hurt if not moved correctly and with some thought. Good luck!!! I am sure they will be beautiful.

My dad fabricates and installs countertops for a living and I'm becoming interested in helping him. He only speaks Spanish and sometimes his instructions get lost in translation as I do not know the technical terms in English. Your videos have definitely helped me gain a deeper understanding of granite and its fabrication process. Thank you for doing this complete series. I would love to see more videos on granite/quartz from you especially because you explain things so well. Keep up the great work + subscribed. You have no idea how much you have helped me.

Stay away from citrus and ammonia products.

Try Tiger ager stone enhancer. Works really good.
Sad to see no more granite stuff. Quartz in the future? Good video counters look amazing. 👍

Thanks! I will try that enhancer. I am hopefully doing a cottage build this summer that I will be documenting on TH-cam. I plan on using granite in many places and will TH-cam them also. Another future video will be converting my shuttle bus into a toy hauler/van life vehicle that I will be putting granite in also. More to come on granite just will be a little bit.

I thought in one of the first videos you paid 1,200$ for the granite slab? Also I thought there was a number of lime 12/13,000$ for something, in regard to savings. Either way, I’m a petty DIY guy and gave me even more confidence to do this project, great job

Hi. I believe the granite for this job was 2 slabs and the cost was about $1200. I did pay $1200 for a remnant piece from a fabricator that was a little less then a half sheet. I did this because I had no other options. I did save about $12000 or so on granite countertops for a high end rental I built. That savings was from a quote I got from Home Depot to do the job. Granite is pretty easy to do. You just have to be careful not to crack it when moving the sheets or pieces. Also very careful to not drop it on yourself. You only have to have patience's on the edging, polishing and the seaming. I will have more granite videos out from the lake house tear down rebuild series I am doing now. Videos are coming out slowly based on the time needed to build this cottage. If you are a good DIY person you should be able to do this easily!!!
