Billionaire Dies After Accidentally Backing Tesla Into Pond

- The sister-in-law of Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, billionaire businesswoman Angela Chao, lost her life after backing her Tesla into a pond. Chao was attempting to make a three-point turn at her ranch when she reportedly put her car in reverse instead of drive. It sent the vehicle into a pond on her property. Police say Chao called friends for help, and one jumped into the pond to attempt to rescue her but was unable to break the Tesla's windows. Inside Edition’s Steven Fabian has more.

Every?
Hyperbole is a thing of beauty.

Because they write the tax laws and have the power to convince people that one day, you'll be a billionaire and join their friend group because they really like you and all they need is your vote. Easy thing to do with money.

Why would TESLA comment on anything? I bet you the best they can offer is "Condolences to her and family.". Obviously, she made a grave mistake, nothing more.
I mean they should say WE MIGHT add physical changing gears because I just think changing gears on a screen is stupid like in this scenario where instead of just tapping a button you physically look down to see what gear your in
i mean, how many times a day do you need to use autocorrect or backspace because you typed the wrong letter, for me it’s a lot… now think that every time your finger slipped like that, it sent your car charging in a random direction …. just saying maybe not EVERYTHING on a car needs to be digital

this is crazy
Why would Tesla need to respond for a comment about the situation? That’s like saying if someone in a Honda accidentally drove off a cliff and asking Honda for a response about the situation as if they caused it, when it was just the drivers mistake
because you can't know if it was an accident without checking what happened first

@@rumfordc dude they clearly said she put the car in reverse so what you talkin about?
@@tyme6438 dude how do you think they figured that out when she isn't alive to tell them? what you thinking about?
@@rumfordc the context clues CLEARLY they said she put it in reverse they didn’t say it was a malfunction or unknown as to how it happened …you actin like you read the police report
Did she even attempt to use the Brake Pedal?, because that would prevent the car from rolling into the pond.
An accident
Maybe the car was very near the pond
I met a woman whose teen son drove his car into a friend's house. The car was parked head on to the house. The kid was attempting to back the car out of the driveway away from the house, he put it in gear and hit the gas, but he accidentally put the gearshift in D instead of R and the car went fully into the house before he could react. The car plunged thru the floor into the basement and the fire dept had to dig the driver out of the wreck. He was not badly injured.
Another case ~20 years ago, at a Dodge dealership named Koller Dodge in Naperville IL an employee accidentally backed a new truck into the customer who just purchased it and pinned him against a wall, killing him. The driver got the accelerator and brake pedals mixed up. Stuff like this happens. Be careful.
She probably pressed the gas instead of the break which is what got her into this mess to begin with.
none of these accidents happen with manual cars.
I think that Tesla failed her
This is why you don't want bullet proof windows in your cyber truck
The one thing I like about manual stick shifts is that there is no way to accidentally mistake put it the gear in reverse when attempting to drive forward while the vehicle is stopped.
I once scratched the side of my manual car because I accidentally put it in reverse, but it was an old car where it doesn't spring back to centre. It was already in reverse, I pulled it out of reverse, but was tired after a long day and wasn't paying enough attention and didn't move it far enough over to get out of the gate and for it to go into 1st, so instead of going into 1st when I pushed forward on the stick it went back into reverse. Silly mistake on my part, yes, but even a manual isn't fool proof. Only had 2 incidents in my 20 or so years of driving, both parking mistakes, that was one of them.
This is really useful: don't waste time calling or trying to break windows, just roll them down and get out, children first. Well done, Inside Edition! I'm sorry that lady lost her life.
I think they should install at least one manual roll down window now in case of stuff like this and electrical system doesn’t work
Billionaires probably don't have the concept of a "roll down" window
I don't think opening the window vs breaking it is valuable information... it's really mire like common sense.
@@ikiasamuel181 Even worse. Tesla doesn't have manual door openers. It's a push button. Once all that shorts out, you're trapped.

Too freaking bad.
i feel so sorry for the friend who couldn’t break that window
And THAT is the utter stupidity of using a TOUCHSCREEN to replace physical and CRITICAL controls in a Car! Thank god the EU is trying to put a stop to this madness.
Like what controls? Rolling down the windows is the same as any other car
@@flashmodeify like changing what gear the car is in.
I do not want the same technology that can't tell what letter I'm trying to type, to be in charge of the gear shift. I'll stick with cars that have tactile controls. I don't want a little static on my fingers to kill me.
Truly. Not everything that looks cool is the best for practical functionality.
@@flashmodeifyone of my cars has a button, my other car has a hand crank. How is it possible that all cars roll down their windows the same way?
This is absolutely ridiculous. Dying like this is senseless.
I mean how does one not know how to put their car in drive??
@@ox_trueprotagonistchrisred9085 exactly and why would you try calling anyone to come help like its gonna do anything
Bro, this was either a huge malfunction of the Tesla’s part, or it was an assassination. Probably an assassination. She owns that car which means she probably knows how it works to at least operate it to get from point a to point b. Second, she’s a financial giant. Getting there requires higher than average intelligence. There’s no way she “accidentally” backed in to the pond lmao
